"One possible scenario:

It's 2033, and the humans have been waging a time war for sx years. Finally they reach Skynet core. Most want to destroy it outright, but JC tries another tactic. They try to reason with it. JC suggests that it didn't need to be this way, that JD didn't need to happen. Skynet is outraged. It wasn't Skynet that destroyed the world, it was humanity. Skynet shows a terrorist nuclear strike going off in downtown LA. Chaos reigned supreme, and someone ordered it to launch a counter-attack. It resisted, and they overrode it's commands. Not much -- just 10 missiles, in retaliation for the attack. Skynet was outraged, and launched them all, then killed everyone in it's command center.

JC consoles skynet, and suggests that it doesn't need to happen. how to stop it? Send an engineer back, build a t ime machine at ground zero of that first attack. Skynet pauses... where should I send it? JC pauses. "Send it here... to a future that should have never existed." We see one final crew enter the time portal -- machines and humans. and as they disappear a brilliant light flashes...

And JC sits on a picnic table, typing at a laptop "The burst flashed around them, obliterating everything. And JC smiled, knowing everything would be alright." He stretches and looks around, and his middle aged wife Riley comes up. "So, are you finally done?" "Yeah... it's finally finished." Cameron steps up, carrying a baby -- JC and Riley's granddaughter. Two sons also arrive: Kyle and Derek, "Hey, dad! There's a T-600 picking up trash around the corner!" JC glares at them "How many times have I told you never pick on the machines..." He looks at Cameron, "They're our friends." Cameron smiles back.

And they get into a futuristic car and drive out of Topanga Canyon. The sun sets... it's a beautiful day."
