"Terminator Salvation: Cold War" by Greg Cox is the latest T4 spin off novel. The basic premise is as follows:
"Russia 2003. When it appears that the United States has unleashed its entire nuclear arsenal upon the world, Captain Dmitri Losenko, commander of the nuclear submarine Gorshkov, has no choice but to retaliate. His target? Alaska. Alaska 2018. Fighting for survival in the frozen wilderness, Molly Kookesh struggles to protect her makeshift Resistance cell from the Terminators. Inspired by John Connor’s radio broadcasts and following a brutal encounter with a fearsome machine, she decides it’s time to fight back… An official novel exploring the post-judgment day world of the hit movie Terminator ® Salvation™." Terminator Salvation: Cold War hits shelves October 20th. http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-Salvation-Cold-Greg-Cox/dp/1848560877

It looks like it won't surpass T3 either. T3 raked in 283 million in foreign numbers and 150 million in US, for 433 million total. As of 9/10/09, T4 is at 371.3 million and appears to have finished it's run in the US. After my last posting, it made 63.5k the following week from August 24-30, then made about 35.6k the rest of its run which ended on the 10th. It's grand total domestically 125.3 million dollars, about 25 million below T3. As for foreign numbers, T4 is still sitting at 246.0 as of 8/23/09, up from 245.3 million the previous week. This is because of a late opening in Mexico, putting the new foreign estimate at 246-250 million. Unfortunately the latest update available is for the week of 8/23/09 and no update has occurred since. That puts the likely total gross from the film between 370-375 million, about 55-65 million below T3. It cost the same to produce, but as Tscchope kindly provided some budgeting data, it's not a flop for all parties involved. WB invested 60 million in the project and has US distribution and marketing, Sony invested 100 and has international distributing and marketing, Halcyon put up the rest. Assuming Halcyon splits the grosses 50/50 with each partner, they receive 50 million from the US gross and about 96-98 million international gross, for a total of 146-148 million (profit about 105 million). They also receive money from any DVD sales. WB only gets 50 million from the gross, that puts them 50-60 million in the red after marketing, so they need very strong DVD sales to break even. Sony will get about 96-98 million as well putting them in the red by 2-4 million before marketing, with marketing they're in the red by 40-50 million. Obviously Halcyon looks very good and the studios look bad.

Just saw this while browsing Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-Salvation-Cold-Greg-Cox/dp/1848560877/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1251866676&sr=1-1 I read "From The Ashes", the official movie prequel, and it was pretty good. This is from a different author though. I'll definitely be picking this up in the end of October. Pretty cool to see that the Terminator franchise is still selling new stuff. I wish someone would commission a TSCC novel though.

Here is the link to the article:
http://movies.ign.com/articles/101/1011868p1.html This article was posted yesterday August 7, 2009 Here is the Q&A with McG regarding the TV Show: Q: Do you think the TV show perhaps lessened the impact of having a new Terminator movie? McG: That's one of those things that we realized looking over our shoulder. I believe that we can put enough separation into our film construct where the television show would be the television show and the film will be the film. But one could also argue that cannibalized Superman to some degree – with Smallville doing its thing. It's always witchcraft. It's guess work. It's dangerous. It was very difficult to follow in the footsteps of my hero, Jim Cameron. I did the best I could and I learned a great deal, and I'm certain that I'm a better storyteller now, having had that experience. And I think the next film is going to be very pleasing and very surprising to the fans. That's the goal. McG's response is cryptic to me. He seems to be saying that they didn't fully consider the impact of the T.V. show in advance. It also seems like he is inferring that the movie and TV show should be separate but not too separate. Is this revealing something about the future of TSCC? Is he merely trying to blame the lackluster performance of the film on the existence of TSCC? Topic: Is McG hinting at anything about the future of TSCC in his statement, or what is your opinion of the overall planned direction of T5 based on the information thus far, or what direction would you like to see T5 go? It is unfair TSCC has million of fans in the world, TSCC world rating is like 15 million (current forescast), everybody in this wiki went to Terminator Salvation, if you enjoy a TV Show about star trek, you go to Star Trek movies..... I am pretty sure million watch Terminator Salvation just for TSCC. a Terminator movie with heavy weak points like Terminator Salvation is danger for terminator world; after Terminator Salvation million will think twice before go to other Terminator Movie I believe this WB / HALCYON need TSCC FANS if they want T5....They cannot lost costumer right now... WB / HALCYON must learn from Star Trek, movie and tv shows in peace working for Star Trek world :-)

according to IMDB.com james cameron is involved with the deveopment of T-5.
it is on James's page where it lists all he has done and is doing. James Cameron imdb http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000116/ at the top T-5 is listed as one that he is doing something on and it is in development. and down below , under "crew misc" it says he was involved with 6 eps of S-1 doing something. If they would let cameron make T-5 it might be pretty good, and if he was involved with TSCC early on he might want the show brought back to create interest in the T-5 movie, and if he laid out a storyline....new one for TSCC, I wonder how tscc fans would react to that. I am not saying he would write it, just lay out the story arc so there would be some similar things, to T_5. maybe even some tie -ins like intro cameron or Weaver ...or both ! ....in T-5

I wondered this when I saw T4 and thought that because it can switch genders easily it is Transexual. However I know this is a little odd as it is a Cyber Computer however you have to consider the possibility that Machines actually know the difference when It comes to Gender. What do you think? any views are welcome as always :)
