A Place in time
Over the next seven days John, Cameron, Derek and Kilee bought the parts needed to fix the time displacement device. On Saturday Derek disappeared. Kilee told John and Cameron what was needed to finish the device and they went to get the last few parts. Kilee then put on a dress, it was only the second time in her life that she wore one, the first was when she buried Sarah Connor. It was a simple sundress made of sea green material. She took her hair down and curled it. Sarah came in while she was attempting this and helped her out and styled it for her. So know she had a braid around her head and curls spilling down the back. John and Cameron came in from the shed with the list that they would need and John only starred at her. Sarah smiled “You look great, do you and Derek have a date planned for today?” “Something like that.” Kilee said then told John and Cameron to get in the truck. Leaving Sarah in the door way waving good by to them. Kilee stopped at a corner in town and got out. “See you two back at the homestead.” she joked as she tossed the keys to John and walked away/ “Where is she going?” Cameron asked. John picked up the newspaper that was in the back seat. It was open to the wedding page and a circle was around a picture of Malcolm Ripley and a beautiful brunette with the time of the ceremony listed. “My guess is here.” John answered. They drove off to get the rest of the parts. Kilee walked into the church. It was beautiful. The stained glass windows rained color all over the seats. She couldn’t help looking around at all the beautiful artifacts. She had been in several churches, but they had all been burnt and destroyed. She never knew that they were so fantastic. She was brought back to reality as a hand grabbed her arm and Derek hissed in her ear “Let’s not attract attention by starring at everything.” “But it looks so wonderful” she said then turned to look at Derek. No one had seen him leave, so no one knew what he was wearing. She starred at him. He was freshly shaven and wearing a dark blue sports coat with a button up light blue dress shirt and black docker pants. “Wow! You clean up perfectly!” she had never seen him look … well civilized before. He smiled “You look incredible as well. After we get out of here if you need help getting out of that dress I am at your service.” she laughed. It was a sweet sound and Derek remembered the days that he had hated to hear it because it meant that Kyle had done something that she liked. He hardly recalled her every laughing at him or even with him. He smiled “Let’s find a seat.” They walked down and sat on the grooms side of the church. Derek hadn’t wanted anyone to know that he was coming here but when he saw Kilee standing in the door way with the sunlight lighting up that hair of hers he was relived and happy that she had come. They had arrived late so it was only moments later that the groom and his men came out and the bride came down the isle. Derek studied Malcolm. He had his left arm in a sling and a few scratches on his face but otherwise looked alright. Derek’s sense of quilt eased a little, he had also but a bunch of money in an a gift bag and left it on the gift table in the adjoining room where the reception was to be held. After the ceremony the couple walked out, not wanting to go through the line incase Malcolm remembered them they headed to the car that Derek had stolen for today. They arrived back at the house only to hear Sarah screaming at John and Cameron from inside the shed. Derek and Kilee exchanged worried looks and rushed to the open door. Sarah was yelling “What did they think they were doing with this? How did they get it? When did they get it?” apparently she had just found the stolen money and John and Cameron where standing there having just returned themselves for they still held the bags of stuff that they bought. “There you are” Sarah yelled upon seeing Derek and Kilee standing in the door “What is this?” She thrust a packet of money in Derek’s face. “Looks like money to me, were did you get it?” he said coyly. Sarah hissed “Don’t play dumb with me.” Cameron snorted and said in a loud whisper “Who says he is playing?” John tried hard not to laugh and was only able to stop when Derek glared over at him. Kilee stepped in “You guys got the rest of the parts.?” “Yeah” John said “Okay then lets get this done and we can go back to 1984.” Sarah spun on her “You have not answered my questions.” Kilee looked coolly at her “I was unaware that you asked me one.” as she took the stuff out of the bags and started placing the parts together. Sarah shoved the money at her with out saying anything, but glaring at the younger woman. Kilee took the money from her and tossed it over with the rest of it “We needed money, we got money end of discussion.” “Did you shoot that armored car guard?” “No.” Kilee said. And then lifted up the time placement device. “Okay I just have to adjust it and then we can go, now we will need someone to stay behind and guard our return. To them it should feel like only a few minutes, so we need to get clothes for everyone that goes back ready and then some for Kyle.” “Kyle got hurt so we will need someone to look him over.” Sarah said. “John you know what to do.: Kilee said the boy nodded and headed back to the truck. Time for Charlie, he thought. Sarah went to stop him but John shrugged her off “Mom I have to do this. I can’t go back and neither should you.” He said and climbed into the truck “But it is between you and Kilee, I will see you when I get back.” He started the engine and pulled out of the drive. Sarah rejoined the others. “… Cameron and you.” Kilee finished saying. Sarah said “I will stay and look after John.” “Good that was what we just decided. Can’t have two of you running around back there. I will take Cameron and Derek with me, as long as Derek understands that I am leader on this mission.” “You have only been telling me that for the last month.” “Fine then lets go get some clothes ready Kyle would have a heart attack if he sees either of us dressed like this.” “I thought you looked nice. How was the wedding?” Cameron said. Sarah looked up but Kilee cutoff anything that she was going to say. “It was fine now lets get ready to go.” They spent the next half hour gathering up clothes and supplies that they thought they might need for Kyle and themselves. Judging by the injures that Sarah could remember Kyle receiving in the 24 hours he was with her they made sure they had the right bandages. Kyle and John were about the same size so they took some of John’s clothes for Kyle. When they returned to the shed it was to find Charlie, Sarah and John awkwardly seating together in silence. Charlie looked up at his daughter as they entered “What is going on here? John said that you guys have someone that is injured.” “Not yet but we will.” Kilee said with that she had the three of them step outside the shed. Then she set the date for a few months before Kyle would meet Sarah and activated the device. With a blinding blue/white light Sarah saw them disappear. She watched a little amazed as the clothes they were wearing floated to the floor. The pain eased and she could breathe again. She was cold and curled up like a baby. She carefully stretched out her arms and legs. A groan to her right signified that Derek was feeling the effect of the time travel. Kilee opened her eyes as the ringing in her ears stopped and she could hear loud music and laughter. They had landed in front of an 80’s dance club, completely naked “Great’ she thought as she rolled over and pushed her self t her feet. Cameron was already standing on her feet and Derek stood up slowly beside Kilee. “Well that is what I like around here. A man that stands at attention.” there was laughter and Kilee closed her eyes, it was cold and she could just imagine what the hooker was looking at. Jus then something soft and warm wrapped around her shoulders. She opened her eyes to see a few ladies of the night take off some long coats that they had on and wrap them over the three strangers. “Come with me we can find you something to wear in the back. Just so you know we are dancers not one of them.” She said pointing to the group that was laughing at them still. She lead them into a crowded dressing room and asked Derek to keep his eyes closed and have a seat. The three had buttoned up the coats and sat on a bench near the door, but before the women could come back they heard a loud voice say “This is the police Everyone stay where you are.” Derek groaned, Kilee closed her eyes again and Cameron continued to look around “There are lots of colors here!”
