Synopsis

"Haunted by nightmares of the man she killed in the factory, Sarah checks into a sleep clinic. When suspicious things begin happening, Sarah suspects Skynet may be using the facility for brain-mapping."

  • This episode told one story line: Sarah's. It was however convoluted between reality and dreams. It was not revealed until the end that the apparent dream was reality and the apparent reality was but a dream.

Unanswered Questions

  • Is Calabris separate and competing with Zeira Corp?

  • Will Catherine Weaver go after John and Sarah now?

  • Was Sarah's dream about brain scans in the basement an indication of the basement in Dungeon and Dragons?

Episode Trivia

  • Nurse Ratched was an omage to the evil nurse in One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest.
  • In Sarah's dream she went to the basement to find the records of thousands of human dreams to be used by Skynet. Derek was dragged to the basement for unknown purposes in Dungeon and Dragons.
  • The coyote was key in the episode. Sarah saw one at the start. He took the form of a tatoo on the knapp of the orderly. The orderly told her that her roommate Dana did not take charge of her life and died. Sarah bit her wrists, drew blood and broke her hands to escape Winston. Coyotes are known to chew a leg off to escape traps.

  • Executive Producer's credits overlay was on Sarah when she was being lied to in her dream by the dream enemy, Nurse Ratched. The whole episode was about Sarah, but the end revealed that the dream clinic was the dream. Winston was not the nightmare. He was real. Sarah ended the episode's fight on Winston's chest. She is strong. She is beautiful. She is a bad bitch. She is Sarah.

  • John continues to be referred to in the feline sense. Dana called him "Hey Tiger".

  • Winston used to smoke but now he eats rummy seeds.

  • The hospital johnnies worn by Sarah and the other patients were martial arts uniforms, or "Ghi's".

Anyone also a huge X-Files fan? I actually recorded every show on VHS. Lots of similarities in writing style. Lots of plot threads scattered all over, loosely connected. Important details not explained, left to the viewer to speculate. What is Weaver's true mission? What is Jesse's true mission? Are either working directly for, or against either the Connors, or Skynet? Lots of unanswered questions.

In X-Files: Kill Switch (season 5, ep 11) there was an AI that "got loose" on the internet, and built itself a safehouse in a trailer full of computer equipment connected to a T3 line. When Mulder tried to stop it, it's robots captured and drugged him, and in the drug-induced cyberspace dreamworld, it interrogated him and kept amputating limbs in a hospital room to get information. Very similar to Sarah's sleep clinic dream sequence. I kept waiting for the doctors at the sleep clinic to start interrogate her about her mission. Then when Cameron makes the kill switch for John to keep in Ourselves Alone, it was just too coincidental.

I'm just thinking maybe this ep is a tribute to, or a knockoff of X-Files Kill Switch.

Iranatest Yeah, Sarah's Monologue are Back! 2 Feb 28 2009, 2:28 AM EST by Iranatest

"A spirit sits on a man's chest. She is strong, beautiful.....He is paralyzed, the terror in him will burst his heart if he cannot control it. She is a nightmare. A demon woman. ...The witching hour is controlled by witches. She is a bad dream. She is a bad bitch."

Was that Sarah's self description in the closing monologue?
