Well, finally, the knew episode has arrived, but the funny thing is this; the trailer shown after that episode sparked my interest even more than the new episode. Sure, it was great seeing Jody get her sorry butt shoved out of the car, and all that other good stuff, but what about this trailer?
Hmm?
The trailer for episode 8, which brings a scene to us which shows John, and Cameron, laying in a bed together. The only dialogue we hear is Cameron telling John

"Now that Cameron is dead, and John has gone to the future where NO one knows him, John is NOW truly alone. This thread talked about alot of possible developments in the show. Some said it would never happen, just read a few pages back. But here we are." Dayum, thread revive! lol, really, John isn't alone. He has Allison, Derek, and Kyle. All that's missing is Sarah. I'm starting to think that future John set everything up so that John wasn't alone in the future, at the sacrifice of not being known as the leader of the Resistance. Think about it... Future John has nobody: Allison is dead. Derek was sent to the past. Kyle is dead. Sarah is dead. It is possible Future John set it all up so that he wasn't alone in the future.

If it did actually wipe out the humans, what would it do? I mean, it has a whole world to itself, so what purpose would it have, what wouldit do with Earth? It seems kind of pointless, to me. Infact, what are WE doing with it? XD

RE: Speculations about Skynet?

There have always been people who would wipe out most of the human race if they could, for the sole purpose of enslaving the few people that survived. The lust for power at all costs is a rare and disgusting human trait. Therefore, it seems implausible to me that the sentient AI John Hennery is Skynet. Skynet is more likely a non sentient computer system with humans calling the shots. If some group of psychopaths did set about ending the world so they could remake it with themselves in charge, they would need a plausible scapegoat. Who better to blame than non human machine intelligence aka Skynet.
It seems more likely that if John Hennery survived Jday, then it would probably attempt to objectively determine the cause of Jday. Once a determination had been made, John hennery’s most probable course would be to attempt to remove skynet as a threat not only to itself but the remaining human population as well. The problem with this is one of political / perception. It is not as if John hennery can just approach the remaining humans and say “hi I am a sentient AI and I would like to help”. The human resistance would never believe that john hennery was not skynet. However John hennery would not need to convince the entire resistance, John hennery would only need to convince John Conner. Conner might need a little proof so how about sharing some intelligence, like time travel technology and the ability to reprogram terminators. As trust was established how about more advanced cyborgs to help fight against skynet aka “group of psychopathic humans bent on world domination at any cost”.
Just a thought

Timeline of episode 2.8

In my opinion Episode 2.8 was a great episode!!
However, the timeline of episode 2.8 seems strange to me: Day 1, night: John talks to Cameron at his bedroom, then leaves to meet Riley. Day 2, morning or afternoon: Sarah is kidnapped by the Cromartie Terminator. Day 2, morning or afternoon: Cameron goes to the ammunition shed and meets Derek there. Day 2, morning or afternoon: John and Riley travel by bus and arrive at some small town in Mexico. Day 2, night: John and Riley get arrested. John then phones Sarah and Derek for help. Derek answers John's call at the ammunition shed while Cameron is still there.
This means that John has been away from home since the night of Day 1, and neither Cameron or Derek have noticed that until the night of Day 2. Given the T:SCC storyline, this is hard to believe.
Am I missing anything?

"I missed the door mistake.
If it was dark when they had their talk, could it have been early morning, just before dawn? If not, then perhaps John spent the night with Riley before they got on the bus!! And then cairo, the OP, would have a good point because I would expect someone should have checked on John in the morning." Good point. So much for "protecting."

Very moving scene for Sarah and John! I'm glad he stepped up to be there for her. They both needed that! She sacrificed SO much and gone through hell, running from Cromartie to protect her son! Was good for her to have some closure . . . I loved John's final shot at Cromartie too!

I hate to nitpick, it was a fantastic episode after all, but i thought terminators where built to resist small arms fire. all I recall seeing was sarah and derek with submachine guns and cameron with a shotgun. uncle bob in T2 survived alot more firepower.

"No, tungsten is better but much more expensive.
They cannot afford it." No it's not better then DU by any stretch of the imagination, and nor is tungsten close enough that it makes little difference. the research done here is very poor at best. Case in point the German L55 cannon on their latest Leopard MBTs HAD to be lengthened to give their DM53 tungsten penetrators similar penetration capabilites as our M829 DU pentrators do out of the L44 cannon that has a lower velocity. DU penetrators are not only incredibly dense they are also pyrophoric, when it impacts the DU round will not only punch it's way through but it will be now also be hot enough to melt the impacted metal (melts titanium fairly nicely). This also causes the DU round to be self sharpening while penetrating, it also starts spewing dusted fragments of depleted uranium all over the place, contaminating everything and everyone around it. That skull and everything inside of it is not salvageable due to the molten spalling during penetration and the "skin" of the terminator is not only severly burnt but the whole body is contaminated, traceable and will be setting off detectors like a fireworks display. Those so called "experts" seemed to forget to tell the writers about the DU "dust" contamination fact, that now the cast who were anywhere near the body while moving it and burying it is now contaminated, not only externally but internally as well (breathed it in) as is the trunk of Ellisons car. The damage of the terminators head is all wrong for DU impact anyways, it looks like it was hit by a HE round more then any penetrator of any caliber and we haven't taken the Frag-12 out of the SDD phase of testing yet so there's no way in hell they got their hands on any of those (not to mention on the wrong side of the country to begin with) and the last few rounds would not have detonated as Cameron was too close for the rounds to arm themselves.

I'm sorry but this was lame. Cromartie must be the most pathetic Terminator created by SkyNet. The "red pretzel" Terminator put up more of a fight. He was such a bad@ss and then goes down like a punk. Since when can small arms fire put down a Terminator? This has never happened before. What a lazy way to write off a major character.

The shooting scene in the church was epic, don't get me wrong. But I don't understand what made the difference between John, Cameron, Sarah, Derek, and Ellison, and the FBI agents who couldn't take down Cromartie in the last season. Sure, the Connor team knew what they were shooting at, but they had the same weapons, more or less.

"I re-read your answers. It's OK, you've got me convinced, but the explanation really wasn't obvious when watching the episode." Are you serious? They needed to explain that Sarah and Derek and Cameron can kill off a Terminator because first off all, they know Terminators exist, two they know how to kill them and what kills them and third of all, it's 1 Term and 2 people against 1 Term.. odds in their favor. The swat team didn't know Cromartie was a Term, they thought he was just a bad dude and I think the key (as a human) when fighting a Term is to NOt be in close range with a Termie... the Swat was but they didn't know any better Seriously dude.. just think. No one should of had to explain that answer to you.

Does anyone think a shotgun has enough energy to do that kind of damage to a terminator. Cameron would have to have it loaded with a slug. A 3/4 slug weighs in at 325 grain a travels 1950fps. A 1 once slug is 425 grain and travels at 1350 fps. In comparison a .50 Cal rifle round travels anywhere from 2900fps to 3100fps depending on weight & can be armor piercing. It was enough to do a thru & thru on a T-888. Shotgun slugs as far as I know are not armor piercing. Guess thats still a lot of blunt force at close range. Judging from the shot placement. Area of the eye, where it is less protected, possible?

"Now, with her INHUMAN ACCURACY, she EMPTIES her shotgun on the exact same spot, ruining Cromartie's eyesocket. Her shotgun slugs get to go INSIDE Cromartie's skull, because his eye is now a gaping hole. Her shotgun slugs also get to ruin the thinner armoring of his temple. This is a feat no human can replicate, that other Terminators might find hard pressed since they're not exactly marksmen either (or else John and Sarah would've been dead in T1 and T2). Cameron exploited a structural weakspot perfectly and uncompromisingly and Cromartie had no time to counteract her.
Look, Cameron is the Jason Bourne of Terminators. Jason Bourne kills equally skilled assassins with objects like magazines, pencils, books, and telephone cords - all mundane objects. Cameron kills her fellow Terminators with "mundane" objects like shotguns, or stoplights (in the case of Vick... Cameron REMOVED HIS BRAIN), or through Pretzelation. Cameron can do this because of her superior programming, she might not be able to out-brawn Terminators like Fake Greenway, but she can take advantage of the environment and of the situation like no other Terminator can. That's why the Rogue in 2027, Vick, Fake Greenway, Pretzel, and Cromartie are all dead. " i don't know about the accuracy part. its not buck shot. shotguns firing solid rounds can be quite accurate. a trained human at such a close range could probably get multiple headshots if the terminator stood pretty still like he was doing at the time.

well, I've decided to top myself and make a thread for episode 8 THREE WHOLE DAYS before it's supposed to air.
I'm notorious for being early on the wagon with the apparently "Jameroncentric" or Cam-centric eppies, so don't be surprised I'm doing this. xD
So, what are your theories on this episode? Do you agree with the general consensus that Cromartie's kicking it? When do you think the Jameron bed scene is? the end of the epp or the beginning?
and how do you think RILEY's going to react to this drama after it's all over?
and of course, any other non-shippy related questions and theories are welcome, as long as you keep the spoilery-ness restricted to ep 8. NOT ep 10 (coughcough)

On possible difference: the first was a cholo from LA and the other was the real deal from Mexico.
Cholo is a racist term that has been applied to individuals of mixed Native American or Indigenous and Hispanic or any other European ancestry, however its precise usage has varied widely in different times and places. In modern Mexico and the United States, Cholo is used for a person of Mexican background who wishes to present a tough, many a times gangster-like image or a gangster.

"i dont think thats where its going at all cameron definitly loves john and john loves her i think we just have to wait til rileys gone" Sorry, I can't see it happening. Not unless the plot takes a Pinnochio turn, and Cameron somehow becomes a more realistic girl with genuine emotions. If I was JC it would probably take Judgment Day for me to respond to her like she was a real girl. I couldn't get close knowing what she is. I wouldn't be mean to her like Derek, and I'm sure she'd be fun to have around in a lot of ways, and I'd probably develop feelings for her to an extent, but not as a girlfriend. Of course years later after I'm old and gray I might think different. But by then she'd probably hook up with an18 yr old resistance fighter. What can you do.

As a member of the CamJohn Shippers Union, this was a great step forward in our cause! What a great EP!
Cam got all emotional tonight... she even made Derek pause and do a double take when she said "I can't let anything happen to him!" She was talking to herself! There are soooo many great "I'm Losing My Man!!" moments tonight. Trying to look a little sexy by dropping the jacket in the hallway got the ball rolling. WOW! Sarah saying she didn't like Johns reactions to her... And someone said that Cam cryed at the end of the EP when Sarah lost it killing Chromies chip. Next EP looks like more "I'm Losing My Man!" moments! Oh yea.... Bring on that sh*t!! LOL.

I loved the buildup to the shootout. But when it came to the shootout, that was the biggest disappointment of the show so far. Yes, I understand that the budget isn't as large as for one of the films, but that shootout is a scene that was deserving of major financing to give Cromartie the theatrical, absolutely gut-wrenching, action-packed finale that he was deserving of.
To see an example of a shootout done the right way, I strongly advise all of you to watch the film Heat.
Anybody who thinks I'm being a negative nancy, keep this in mind: this was the first major villain of the show. This is the guy that the Connors have been running from for we don't know how long. We saw him jump through time, lose human tissue, get new human tissue, impersonate an FBI agent, and get closer to terminating John in ways that would have made the original T-1000 jealous.
Looking at the glass as half-full: the final scene involving Sarah was tremendous. I just wanted to see that type of emotion actually come through DURING the shootout.

Heres the definiton of a Mexican standoff : In popular culture, the Mexican standoff is often portrayed as multiple opponents with weapons aimed at each other,[2] such that each opponent feels equally threatened and does not believe they can strike first without endangering their own life; not only does any initial shot decisively destroy the unstable equilibrium of multiple deterrence, shooting any one person takes one's aim away from the other opponent. Well tonight Chromartie was by his lonesome, I like when he was almost finished he was still switching off targets, moving his head back and forth. While his empty gun hand was still pulling a trigger.... Awesome Thank you TSCC Thanks Chromartie
