Reflection and Words of InspirationFacts are difficult to find. Objectivity is just as elusive when it comes to the future of television shows. The real picture is blurred by economics, politics and what information business leaders are willing to reveal.
If people want to save or bring back a show, I think it is important that they look at past fan campaigns. Consider, for example, the campaign to save Star Trek Enterprise, or even as far back as 1968 with the original Star Trek series. The following article discusses how Star Trek fans back then "miraculously brought back their show to the airwaves."

http://www.trekunited.com/news/content/view/21/44/1/1If we want to bring TSCC, we have to make the strongest possible statement. I believe that a while back there was too much optimism over TSCC's future. When FOX ordered in the last nine episodes, people had the idea that "FOX loved the show." True or not, they are the ones running the business and have to make a profit. Contrary to the impression fans may have received, TSCC was in deep trouble when FOX ordered in the last nine episodes. Warner Bros, knowing that it was then unlikely that they would ever have profited from Season 2 of TSCC, decided to make it into a mere advertising campaign for Terminator Salvation. That was most probably the rationalisation behind FOX airing the last nine episodes. FOX and Warner Bros kept the truth from TSCC fans so as not to hurt Terminator Salvation's performance.

http://www.fmqinc.com/save-tsccI believe that there is a far more powerful way of bringing TSCC back than writing letters and simply buying products with the TSCC brand name. The producers of TSCC needed money to make TSCC. Writing letters achieves very little in the way of generating the cash they needed for it. The purchase of TSCC-branded products may help throw money in their direction, but not directly. One must consider the costs involved in manufacturing these products. These products also emerge from a hodge-podge of contracts between manufacturing and design firms. The manufacturing firms make the goods. The design firms provide the creativity and imagination that makes these products unique. They make money out of their ideas for products that receive TSCC branding.
A more powerful way of supporting and sponsoring TSCC is to speak the same language as the executives running Warner Bros: money in the form of cash. If you simply buy products with the TSCC brand-name, your money is propagating through a network and web of business contracts.
Why not put your money into a specially dedicated fund?
While you may try to write to FOX and WB to support TSCC for a third season, I've heard there are problems with even getting WB to consider it. WB is currently involved in a law suit with MGM over the rights for the distribution and production of T5. Considering that WB was using TSCC for promotion for Terminator Salvation, if MGM wins the contract to produce and distribute T5, there's little point in WB producing Season 3 of TSCC. WB isn't necessarily in a position to start with a third season. Having said that, if we cannot rely or depend on WB being in a position to produce TSCC, we should be wary of channeling our efforts in that direction. Without a movie, WB has no capital with which to finance TSCC. Someone, however, will always have the rights to TSCC and the idea is to direct our cash to that company, whoever it may be, in two or three years time.
Production for TSCC has stopped. There is no contract to renew TSCC. The actors have moved on to other projects. It is going to be very hard to bring them back. Bringing them back requires a contract involving Halcyon, a distributor (currently WB), a director/producer/lead writer, writers and the actors themselves. The actors will be gone for possibly two to three years. That means that considering the economic, financial and legal factors, for at least two to three years, you will not have a third season. They cannot restart production now. You cannot just bring back the writers and cast. Contracts have already been signed and money has already been dedicated for other things. The business leaders are now waiting for profit, for return-on-investment on other things.
The question is whether you can wait that long. It is a question of whether you have the will, financially, economically and politically to not only wait, but to put your money into a fund that will eventually be used to persuade Josh Friedman and the cast to come back.
If we're going to fight a war, we are going to have to be smart and if we know what we need to do, we have to go all the way with it. There is no turning back. We also have to be prepared for the possibility that this is going to be a long war. It's not going to be over that quickly. A nation, a country that is not prepared for a long, hard, drawn out struggle of attrition will probably fail and be defeated.
In war, just as important as courage and skill is the way you conduct that war. It's called military doctrine. There was a way in which the Germans went to battle. There is more to it than Blitzkrieg. German and British fighters did not fly the same formations. The Germans flew loose formations. The British were trained to keep their formations. As a consequence, the German squadrons were more effective than the British because the British wasted their time trying to stay in formation rather than look for the enemy.
The Star Trek Enterprise campaign managed to raise a whopping US $3.14 million. Just imagine that. We have 10,000 members here in Terminator wiki. If each of us contributed $100, we would be able to raise $1 million. Some of us cannot afford that, but some of us do have the financial capacity to do it. $100 isn't much for those of you who have incomes of at least $20,000 a year. Even if you don't have a job, you probably have social security benefits, and hopefully you're not paying rent or paying off a mortgage. Ideally, you've either got a good-paying job or you're living off the land (so to speak -- ie. living with your parents). I hope most of you TSCC lovers aren't broke! Most importantly, if Star Trek fans have been able to raise that much, we should try too.
Are you living life on the edge? The Scots who faced the English in the Braveheart movie were certainly living life on the edge. They left their families behind. They were about to leave because of the size of the English army when William Wallace stopped them. William gave a fantastic speech to turn them around and persuade them not to give up.
I came across a post on IMDb where a guy said that TSCC wasn't going to come back because people weren't willing to pay. There may be some truth to that, but maybe a fund is something we haven't yet tried. Yet, we'd probably recoil at the idea of contributing cash. But let us not forget that no battle, no war can be won without loss.
William Wallace: Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!
We haven't really been fighting until we have thrown a part of our lives away. What this means is that we are going to have to bleed some money if we are determined to get TSCC back on its feet. TSCC needs some capital and we must be willing to provide it. We are not going to be able to convince Josh Friedman and the cast to come back without capital. Capital will win us contracts and without a contract there will be no TSCC.
Consider the rhetoric on the Star Trek web site I quoted: "Our mission: to boldly go where no fan campaign has gone before and raise money to sponsor the actual production of another Star Trek: Enterprise season." Obviously, every franchise has its slogans and Star Trek is reknowned for its "boldly going where no .... has gone before" slogans. I believe that we too, are going to have to sponsor TSCC's production. It's not the first time I've said this. I have said this before on the TerminatorFiles and Sarah Connor Society forums -- but maybe not here.
Remember Kyle when he was speaking to Sarah about John: you must be stronger than you could ever imagine you could ever be, otherwise I will not exist.
Someone needs to set up an account so that we can deposit our funds. I have a PayPal account so that is my preferred channel:
1. Create your PayPal account.
2. Attach a credit card or bank account to it.
3. Transfer funds to your PayPal account.
4. Send these funds to the dedicated fund for TSCC.
If you're a TSCC lover, that's what you would do.
It is time for us to bleed some cash.
We may not succeed in getting TSCC back, but there is something more important than succeeding. Far more important than succeeding is fighting. The struggle itself is a noble and honourable one. Let us be warriors for a noble and honourable cause. Let us fight for what we love. For some, it is the love of country, it is national pride. For us, it is a TV show. Yes I've heard, "it's just a TV show." But if you love TSCC, you don't care.If you agree with what I am advocating, let me remind you that we may not see any results for two or three years. Patient is the key. In the meantime, find as many TSCC lovers as you can that will put their money in and hopefully someone will set up an account where we can put our cash!
Regards,
IntrepidVillain.
