Inside the Vault
John was sitting at the table, this gave Kilee an idea, but she would have to get the boy alone. It took most of the night and Kilee was full of nervous excitement waiting until the right moment. Finally Sarah went to take a shower and Derek ran to the store for some supplies. Kilee grabbed John’s arm “Let’s go outside.” She pulled him out the door and over to the swing set. They sat down then Kilee said, still watching the house “You remember what I told you in school that day.” John’s eyes widen “About my dad?” Kilee nodded. “Cameron my have a way for us to get him back.” “How you know I’m in for anything.” Kilee smiled “Yeah I thought so. Well there is this vault we need to get into. I have a device that will scramble the security system so that no one will be able to see or hear us. But I need something to get into the vault. It is possible that it is a card entry.” John smiled “I have just the thing, but I am going with you.” Kilee thought about this it could be dangerous mission, but then he was Kyle’s son. She smiled “okay but you do what I say when I say and no questions. Got it?” John punched the air “You got it.” he grinned. The next day Kilee loaded up John and Cameron and left before Sarah got up. She figured she will try to explain when they got back. She did leave a note saying they were safe. They headed back to San Diego. Cameron gave them the directions to the headquarters. They parked outside and Kilee pulled out what looked like a radio and turned it on. Static came from it and Kilee hide it under the seat, then locked the truck. The trio walked across the street and into the building. They headed straight for the elevators and managed to catch one that was just closing. As they turned to face the lobby they saw the security guards running toward them before the doors closed completely. Kilee and John smiled. They got off on the fifth floor and took the stairs up three floors before heading back onto the elevators. They reached the floor that the vault was on. As the doors opened Kilee sprayed the entire floor with sleeping gas. John and her had already donned masks. They walked over the sleeping guards to the first door. Cameron had picked up the keys from the guard behind the desk and she got them through the first set of doors. They came into a type of lab, but it looked like it was placed in someone's living room. There was a couch and TV in front of them, to the left was a work station and to the right a glass case that held several weird devices. This is were Kilee headed and as she looked into the case her heart started to race. She could not believe what she was seeing. A plasma rifle, security rods, small explosives that they used to blow off tracks on some of the machines. She was looking at devices that did not exist in this time. They should not be here, Her mind was blank from shock until Cameron said “Look over here.” she walked over to where the machine stood and looked into a cryogenic unit that held some one all too familiar. It was Clark Brown. What the hell is he doing here! Was her first thought, then his chest moved and his eyes opened. Cameron grabbed Kilee and pulled her back, just as Clark’s hand shot through the glass to grab her. Kilee pulled the rifle up and fired right into his face. Only then did she see the glowing red eye. Cameron stepped in between them and the Clark machine grabbed her around the throat. Cameron spun around in a flip throwing it into the glass case with the other future devices. When he recovered he lunged at her. They crashed through the metal doors that they had come through and disappeared from view. John had been at the door at the far side of the room and was watching in silence. Kilee said to him “Open that door!” John reached down And turned the handle “All ready did while you were playing around.” They went into a small room. It took a second to find a light switch and it illuminated a closet size room. The only thing in it was a glass case that held the time device. John wrapped his jacket around his arm and smashed the case. A wailing alarm sounded as he grabbed the device out. They quickly headed back the way they came. Cameron was standing next to a broken window. She turned and held up something in her hand “He didn’t make it.” Kilee saw that what she held was part of Clark machines skull, but inside is was his chip. Kilee laughed “Let’s go before we share his fate.” They headed for the stairs and went up. As they reached the top and came out onto the roof they were greeted by a few dozen guards. “John run” Kilee said. John did. He ran right to the waiting helicopter and climbed in. The pilot was so stunned he just starred as the teenage boy clocked him across the face with the time device. Then John began to power up the machine. As the blades started to spin he looked out over the action. Cameron had ten men dead or at least motionless at her feet and was fighting with four more. Kilee was in the middle of a group of men that seemed to be holding her arms, but she was laughing at them. This puzzled John so he continued to watch. Just then Derek and Sarah came from another roof and tazzered the men holding Kilee. Cameron saw the electric charge and turned. “Let’s get out of here” She called. Kilee shot a man who was taking aim at Sarah’s back. Sarah looked at her and nodded then they all ran to the helicopter and John lifted off. “Where did you learn to fly this?” Derek asked. John smiled “Playsatation.” “John you did not” Sarah said. Kilee was sitting in the co pilots chair and examining a wound on her arm as John said “This guy mom knew in Mexico taught me how to fly when I was like eight or something.” He grinned at Derek “By the way how did you know where we were?” Kilee looked over to Derek and Sarah “I would like to know that myself.” Derek and Sarah exchanged looks then Sarah said “It helps to have friends in the FBI.” Part 4 The Device
