I was reviewing the page
http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/page/Sarah+Connor+Chronicles+Nielsen+Ratings And I came up with a better way to test TSCC ratings... compared to other shows. See TVBYthenumb is comparing all shows based on their current ratings... but that's a horribly skewed test. Completely unfair to shows that are not on Monday or Tuesday night at 9PM... Though they compare shows on friday nights too, that's also unfair. They completely ignore demographics & TV networks... Let's face it, sci-fi is least watched on fridays. If we want an accurate test... we need to compare it with a similar show... Prison Break... great comparison. Prison break was also on Mondays for it's 4th season, and then it switched to fridays mid-season, almost like TSCC. Here's the PROBLEM... tvbythenumbers uses cancellation index, based on the shows "season to date". However, for some reason, they delete TSCC's ratings on mondays from this voodoo calculation. This is why Prison Break's "cancellation" index is 0.85, while TSCC is like 0.46. Dollhouse is also LOW for this very reason. They are practically comparing a full SEASON shows ... to MID-season shows with LESS episodes and different time slots. This is called cherry picking data to fit their needs. I also found an interesting article on Nielsen ratings: http://tvoholic.com/news/how-wrong-can-nielsen-be/ Anyway, I am trying to find a list of RATINGS by EPISODE for PrisonBreak, so if anyone finds this, I'll be able to complete a full analysis. Remember, Prison Break wasn't canceled for Season 4, it was decided to be ended by the writers. The story resolved itself. Prison Break compared to TSCC? They are about the same, TSCC has done a little worse from Prison Break, but that's only because TSCC is a much newer show.

I made two charts and added more data to this page on the wiki... I hope it helps someone reach better conclusions.
I sure hope Fox has statisticians that work on their shows constantly and figure out similar information. http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/page/Sarah+Connor+Chronicles+Nielsen+Ratings

From my understanding the ratings are not as bad as they appear. I hear the show is the number #1 dvr'ed show and number #1 downloaded show. So take whatever the ratings is at the moment, and add that by 45%. So we are sitting really at a strong 5-to-low-6, with a strong 2 in the 18-48 ages.
So if the final 5 episodes adds more drama like: senseless violence, like: fights, shooting, stuff blowing up, killing, slapping, biting, cutting, stabbing, decapitation, torture, strangling, eye gouging, human mastication, death by mutilation...etc ...more pain and suffering...etc.... Oh and more Cameron...and maybe a story more Terminator-like....than I think ratings go up and we might pull of the biggest miracle in TV history.

Okay, so we've all read the threads involved in the grass roots efforts to get another season of Terminator. And I applaud every one. One of the methods I have heard touted is to advertise the show everywhere we go in order to get more viewers watching. That got me thinking about the way TV ratings work, and the more I thought about it, the more I wondered to myself about how this is going to do any good.
This excerpt is taken from an educational web page on TV ratings: ***"To find out who is watching TV and what they are watching, the company gets around 5,000 households to agree to be a part of the representative sample for the national ratings estimates. Nielsen's statistics show that 99 million households have TVs in the United States, so Nielsen's sample is not very large. The key, therefore, is to be sure the sample is representative. Then TVs, homes, programs, and people are measured in a variety of ways...."*** Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless the efforts at increasing viewership somehow rope in a significant number of the tiny subset of 5000 nielsen participants (something that probability suggests is highly unlikely), these efforts are going to do absolutely no good. Now, I don't write this to discourage the admirable efforts of our friends trying their damndest to drum up more support for our show; rather, I post this as a plain and sobering illustration of just how screwed we, the fans of TSCC, really are due to a wholly defunct system of determining what shows live and what shows die. A sample of 5000 to represent 100 million. Incredible.

TV by the numbers is getting on my nerves.... They smell blood in the water, and are almost giddy that our show is in the ratings dump.
It would be nice if all 7000+ of us went over there, and told them to Kiss Our Ass. Nuff said.

I'll get straight to the point. We want to make sure TSCC gets another season. So even this early, we need to start our email campaign.
We need to write to 2 entities here, FOX and WB. I also suggest writing after you've seen the most current episode, so that way we can send multiple emails as every week goes by. Each (weekly) email can be different by telling them which parts of the episode particularly appealed to you. And of course, do let them know you absolutely love the show (forget nitpicking for now, we can fight amongst ourselves any other time). Include some basic demographic information. Age, sex and occupation perhaps. FOX and WB need to know that the show IS reaching their target demo. They NEED to know that we're watching. International fans, please write them as well. I've forgotten where but I've read somewhere that WB knows that TSCC is huge internationally, and this will give them further motivation to work with FOX on keeping the show alive. 1) For FOX, write to askfox@fox.com 2) For WB, write to scott.rowe@warnerbros.com Remember, WB were the ones who sent us fans that thank-you email/e-card/whatever for our support for TSCC to get a full season. So at the very least we KNOW they're listening. Let's make this happen fans. I'm not one to sit back and wait for things to (hopefully) get better. We need to move and mobilize. There is no fate but what we make. -ZuluSeven

Such a huge portion of SSC viewers are in it mostly to watch Summer Glau kick ass. This season...she has hardly had to shoot her gun, let alone move. Let alone talk.. She has uttered what..a combined 30 words the past 3 episodes? The writers need to stick in a new physical enemy. I've tried getting a few friends hooked on the show in the past weeks promising it to be an action show (Which it primarily should be), with them tuning in for the first time and being completely lost in pure dialogue. I mean..ultra character development is great, and works if the show is on scifichan, but it simply doesn't work on network television. I just don't want to see this show go the way of Firefly.

Since they started to air the first season of tscc in germany i have become a fan. Like all US shows, except for House, it is kinda flopping. Atleast it does better than Lost and Smallville. Well, i've downloaded most of the episodes from torrent sites and i started to get more information about the actors and the show. As i saw that the show might get canceled, i was kinda shocked. I did wrote one email to Warner Brothers.
I was trying to find a way to watch fox on demand outside from the US to boost the rating. You will need an US IP for that. I stepped into Hotspot Shield, which maybe works on a 32 bit system (didnt worked for me). If it works for you, nice. Just download it here: http://www.hotspotshield.com/. Install it and connect and see if it works with fox on demand. Since i have a 64 bit system it didn't worked, because of driver errors. I also tested it with my notebook and hotspot shield did not work with fox on demand, but it worked fine with hulu and abc. Nice, but useless. After searching for another solution i have found this: http://insidethebrackets.blogspot.com/2008/12/use-hotspot-shield-in-vista-64-bit-no.html. Basically it creates a VPN connection with an US iphone IP. Takes around 5 minutes to set up and it works just fine. Right now i am watching the current episode. If you want to boost the rating further by watching it again, you have to get another iphone IP and reconnect. I assume fox saves the IP of the viewer and stores them 1:1. For a strange reason i can only watch the show with IE, so if you use firefox and it does not work you might want to try out IE. I've already watched the current episode, just let it stream in the background while you do something else. If you wish to support the show from outside the US please follow the instructions and watch the show on FOX. I will try and post this on as many fansites i can. Regards, Chris

The threads all weekend have been nothing but trash! Getting sick of reading them.
Of course the ratings were horrible!!!!! Fox picked the WORST Fri night to switch it to! It was FRI 13th, on Valentines weekend! Where do you think everyone went Friday night?! THE MOVIE .... I myself went Sat to see it, because TSCC came first to me. The movie did $42.2 million in three days!!! The network is retarded for even attempting this night. Gotta give it a chance yet ...... This was one of the most anticipated movies of 2009! done by Michael Bay Yeah it's a remake, but much better than ANY other of the series ~ and even had nudity! So yeah, it was a pretty big deal.
