Season 2 Premiere Ratings: Could Be Better, But Still Impressive

The Sept. 8 season premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles did fairly well although it was down from last year's season premiere ratings. Part of this could be due to stiffer competition. The show did, however, win the Adults 18-49 demographic, and it doubled the ratings for Gossip Girl which is classified to be a "hit," so, you do the math. TSCC News Round Up

September 3rd, 2008
TSCC News for Wednesday, September 3, 2008 Five days and counting until the premier of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES’ Season Two, Monday, September 8, 2008. As always, the Sarah Connor Society is hard at work to bring you all the TSCC news you can shake a search engine at.
Mom, are we at Season Two yet?Mom, are we at Season Two yet?
First up, today in cast & crew interviews, the SCS has: Meanwhile, SCS’s friends at the Imagine Me & You Fansite have a scan of Lena Headey as Sarah Connor from TV Guide’s Fall Preview issue. Digital Spy picks up Josh Friedman’s praise for new cast member Shirley Manson from Sy Fy Portal here (calling Manson’s debut “steely”? GROAN) and you can read the original Sy Fy Portal report here. IO9 considers TSCC vs. Chuck match-up this fall Mondays at 8:
The smackdown we promised almost a year ago has finally come to pass. Chuck, the NBC show about a dorky retail nerd with a spy-database in his brain, is airing at the same time as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Monday nights at 8. Will you prefer comedy or drama? Which Firefly alum would you rather watch every week: Chuck’s Adam Baldwin or Sarah Connor’s Summer Glau? Which whiny boy wins your heart, Chuck or John Connor? Robots or spy gadgets? You decide.
C’mon, Sarah and John Connor, Terminators and Summer Glau FTW, people. iVillage Movie Insider calls TSCC “must-see-TV-on-DVD“. TSCC is also no. 4 on Entertainment Weekly’s Must List for August 31, 2008:
As we march toward Armageddon, it might help to know who’s already dead.
Excellent, if somewhat morbid, point. Firefox News summarizes the coverage of last week’s conference call with Josh Friedman and Lena Headey for you herehere. Chito Lapena considers TSCC and “The Dark Side of AI”: and weighs in on the possibility of a little Terminator-Future Leader of Mankind romance
The Terminator mythology is a good lens to address some of the more important AI questions: will our machines eventually turn on us and try to kill us all? In the first Terminator the answer was simple: yes, yes they will.
Eclipse Magazine includes TSCC in its look at the new fall season:
Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got off to a great start last season, but ratings fell off until Brian Austin Green was added to the cast as John Connor’s uncle from the future. The explosive [in more ways than one] series started out smart, but seemed to get smarter from Green’s debut on - and the season ended with quite a bang, considering that it wasn’t planned for that purpose. One of the key relationships in the series [after Sarah Connor and son] has to be the one that’s developing between the cautious Derek Connor and John’s guardian terminator, Cameron [Summer Glau].
Read the entire article (including the amusing typo in the first paragraph) here. The Modesto Bee squeals with glee at the new season of TSCC:
I can’t wait to see if Cameron (Summer Glau) makes it out of that Jeep on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” (Sept. 8th) Given that she is a indestructible killing machine, I’d say all signs point to yes. Now with Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson in the cast as a corporate baddie, the girl-power quotient on the film franchise’s spinoff is impossible to resist.
Oh, hell yeah. TSCC viewers in the UK and Ireland take note: What’s On TV is reporting that TSCC returns to Virgin 1 for a second season October 22, 2008. They also call TSCC one of the “11 best returning US TV dramas coming soon to a TV near you” which is pretty cool. Not specifically related to TSCC but of interest to TV addicts everywhere is this story from the Hollywood Reporter, “Study: DVRs save relationships“:
A whopping 79% of 1,000 digital video recorder owners reported that the technology has improved their relationship, according to the NDS DVR Report… DVRs were cited as the second most essential household technology item they can’t live without, second only to the mobile phone. Among non-technological household items, DVR was beaten out only by washing machine and microwave oven. “The results show how fast the DVR has become an indispensable part of many people’s lives in the US,” said Steve Tranter, vice president, broadband and interactive delivery, NDS Americas. “It’s one of those technologies that, once you use it, it makes you wonder how you coped before.”
Hat tip to TV Squad for the link. Finally, Blabbermouth.net has posted a new video interview with the band Shinedown, whose song “Second Chances” was used in TSCC Second Season promo video. And remember, you can discuss these stories and more in the Sarah Connor Society Forums. Just remember to keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times.

Sarah searching for TSCC NewsSarah searching for TSCC News
After the flurry of promos, photos and interviews released in the last week, we seem to have hit a mid-week lull in new TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES news. But, like our eponymous heroine, the Sarah Connor Society is not about to let any obstacle get in the way of accomplishing our objective, so… Canadians love Sarah Connor (I mean, who doesn’t, right?) — Canada’s sci-fi channel, SPACE will celebrate the second season premier of TSCC with a Season One marathon starting at noon EST on Saturday, September 13, 2008, ending with the SPACE premier of “Samson & Delilah” at 9. TSCC Season One was also the 9th highest-selling DVD in Canada for the period ending August 24th according to Blockbuster Canada. Not bad, eh? And if you haven’t bought your TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Season One DVDs yet, Warner Brothers have put together this site to help convince you. Finally, TSCC will be moving from CTV to “A” (formerly A-Channel) this season along with Pushing Daisies, Mad Men and Samantha Who? in a bid to increase the Canadian net-let’s viewership. Click here to find an “A” affiliate in your area. Meanwhile, Norse Terminator fans will get to watch TSCC in full high-def glory this fall with the launch of TV Norge’s HD channel October 3rd, reports Broadband TV News. If you can’t wait until September 8th, Io9 posted a synopsis of TV Guide’s video review of “Samson & Delilah” along with the latest TERMINATOR SALVATION plot description from Warner Bros. in today’s “Morning Spoilers” column (beware of, well, spoilers). TSCC is also featured, along with its pulchritudinous female leads, in AfterEllen.com’s 2008 Fall TV Preview. Speaking of TERMINATOR SALVATION, CanMag.ca has posted some interviews with cast members Bryce Dallas Howard (Kate Connor), Anton Yelchin (Kyle Reese v.3.0) and Sam Worthington (Marcus) from Comic Con. You can check out all of CanMag’s TS coverage by clicking here. Also in movie news, Michigan Live has an interview with Benjamin Smolinski, an extra on the TS shoot in Albuquerque:
“Being an extra in a film means your job is to give the background a sense of reality during that particular scene. Most extras don’t even get to shoot in the same frame as the leading actors, but I lucked out. The three leading actors in this film are in the same scene as I am. “Albuquerque has seen a huge rise in major film production recently,” Smolinski continued, “with films such as ‘Transformers,’ ‘Little Miss Sunshine,’ ‘The Spirit’ and now ‘Terminator: Salvation’ being filmed here. It really is exciting, and I plan on participating in more films as they are produced here in Albuquerque.”
Read the whole article here. For Facebook users, you can read the press release for the TSCC Recruit and Destroy Facebook App here (beware of extremely annoying flash ads). And the extremely awesome “Sarah Connor Is My Homegirl” t-shirts previously found on UK site 8-Ball are also available from US T-shirt mavens StylinOnline so TSCC fans on either side of the Atlantic can now find that perfect shirt to wear Mondays mornings this fall.

TSCC BANNER Continuing their week of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES coverage, ComicBookResources.com is back today with an interview with the (Tin) Man in Black, Garret Dillahunt: Sarah Connor Chronicles: News & Rumors - Terminator: Sarah Connor ChroniclesGarret Dillahunt sat on the “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” panel at last month’s Comic-Con International in San Diego, and the experience was an incredible one for the actor and self-professed comic book fan, who said he had twelve boxes of comics at home. “Good lord, there is such power in that [panel discussion room], and it’s maybe the most discerning audience I’ve ever [seen],” Dillahunt said of the Comic-Con audience. “People know the most obscure things you’ve done, they talk about themes, and is it 75% of the movies in the theater are now based on comics books? Maybe more? It’s fantastic.” While most “Sarah Connor Chronciles” cast members seemed worried by the announcement of an imminent death for one of the series regulars, Dillahunt hasn’t been fazed by the news. “I feel good, I feel hopeful either way,” he revealed. “Really though, I was surprised they asked me to be a regular on the show. I wouldn’t think a Terminator’s life would be that long so whichever way it goes it’s okay with me.” Read the rest of the interview HERE.

TSCC News For Tuesday

August 26th, 2008
With two weeks still to go until Season Two of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES begins, our friends at theTVaddict.com once again win the Internets by posting the first review of the premier episode, “Samson & Delilah”:

From kidnappings and carjackings to collisions and explosions, the second season premiere of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES plays out not so much like your traditional episode of television, but rather like one seriously action-packed instalment of the popular video game series GRAND THEFT AUTO. Complete with the requisite mobsters, shootouts and double-crosses, fans will revel as Sarah, John and Co. do anything and everything to survive, as they’re chased through the streets of Los Angeles by…. well, we’re not about to spoil all the fun.

New TSCC S2 WallpaperSarah Connor Chronicles: News & Rumors - Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
To help pass the time until September 8th rolls around, the Sarah Connor Society has collected a whole endoskeleton worth of “Samson & Delilah” goodies, including:

And if that’s not enough bone-crushing TSCC action for you, log into the Sarah Connor Society forums for spoilers, speculation and discussion about the new season. In other TSCC news, the Guardian Online (this writer’s favourite paper in the whole world), has nice things to say about TSCC in its TV& Radio blog. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has even nicer things to say about TSCC Season One on DVD, awarding the show 3.5 out of 4 stars. Novelist, blogger and all-around cool guy, John Scalzi, thinks about Ellen Ripley and her thematic daughters on AMCTV.com’s “Sci-fi Scanner”:

'I’ve had cause to think about women’s characters in science fiction, and the single most important female character in the history of science fiction film: Ellen Ripley, of the Alien series. What makes her important? Because she’s a pivot point in the history of science fiction film, and how women inhabited the genre. In a nutshell — Before Ripley: Barbarella. After Ripley: Sarah Connor."

TSCC is also mentioned in two industry-centric pieces from TV Week’s Josef Adalian: - “Broadcast Battle Comes Into Focus” takes a look at how the Fall TV schedule is shaping up. Adalian’s take on Monday’s at 8 p.m. - “It’s gonna be a dogfight.“ - “Autumn is the Age of Anxiety” focuses on networks’ fears about the new season in light of last winter’s writers’ strike and offers some insight into how FOX is treating TSCC this year:

What will happen to the freshman class of 2007? A slew of promising newcomers from last fall-think “Chuck,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Life,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”-had their initial seasons cut short by the strike. Most have been off the air since March (or earlier), causing network execs to worry that audiences may have simply decided to move on. That’s why many producers are treating their second-season premieres as pilots, and network hypesters are promoting many of the sophomores as brand-new shows. Will viewers who initially flirted with these frosh resume their infatuation, or move on to the sexy new morsels the networks are offering up this fall?

IO9 has TSCC in its sights once again, this time in a couple of posts about the current crop of genre villains: “Why We Deserve Better Villains - And How To Get Them“. Vote for Cromartie (or not) in their “Who’s The Weakest Recent Villain” poll. For Facebook users, Daniel Romano has reviewed the TSCC “Machines vs. Humans” Facebook application:

Today’s Facebook Review is about Terminator SCC (Sarah Connor Cronicles). First before starting with this Facebook Review please let me say WOW. Honestly this Application goes beyond all the previous app Reviewed on this Facebook Blog… The graphics as well as the user friendly interface make of this Facebook Application a must for those who enjoy shooting games… 4.3 out of 5.

I spent a good chunk of my afternoon scanning the poster (which wasn’t easy since I had to reassemble it in Photoshop because it was larger than my scanner bed) to bring them all to you since there aren’t any digital versions of these available. Although there seems to be no official word on when Season Two will air in the UK, according to information posted in the Digital Spy UK forums, Scots won’t get a chance to see their favoured daughter (and fellow British citizen Lena Headey) in TSCC Season Two until January 2009 on Virgin1. From our friends at Dekker_Daily: Glau-philes and Browncoats take note: the HDRoom reports FIREFLY will be coming to Blu-Ray on November 11, 2008, for $89.95. To mark the release of the first season of the Sarah Connor Chronicles on DVD yesterday, here is a thoughtful review of the first season from DVDTimes.co.uk to tide you over until your Amazon order arrives (and if you haven’t bought your copy of season one yet, why not? Better yet, click here):
This is very much a show with a huge amount of potential, and the signs that it has all the necessary ingredients to flourish into a great show. But it’s not quite there yet. It doesn’t yet have It, that sometimes indefinable quality that elevates the great from the merely good. There hasn’t so far been a moment which sends chills down one’s spine, the scene where Locutus appears on the view screen, say, or Angel turns to Angelus, and you realise you’re going to be talking about this show for a long, long time to come. It’s come close a couple of times, such as the moment when Cameron calmly walks down the stairs while those who have just helped her are shot dead, but at times there’s a sense the writing is trying too hard to get there - the shootout in the last episode, for example is too familiar to be effective, as is the scene from the same show when John meets his father - but ambition is not to be condemned and there is certainly a fair share of that. If the series can vary its tone a little more, and can continue to expand its characters and keep its writing to the standard it is now, the phrase “She’ll be back” will very unexpectedly become a cause of celebration.
TSCC Season One is also JoBlo’s DVD Clinic’s Pick of the Week (warning: some images are NSFW) and TV Guide says:
Once the show finds its stride, it’s hard to pull away, making the abrupt end after only nine episodes (thanks again, writers’ strike!) even more tragic. On the upside, however, you should have no problem burning through this set in record pace. The only thing you’re likely to do faster is set your DVR for this season.
Look for a DVD review from Sarah Connor Society staff as soon as we can find someone to pull us away from compulsively rewatching our DVD sets long enough to write one. AfterEllen.com blogger Dorothy Snarker loves her some TSCC, what with imagining a cross-over between 30 Rock and TSCCcommenting on the new Season Two promo photos. TSCC composer Bear McCreary writes that he’s just begun work scoring the second season of TSCC and promises “a special musical treat in the first episode!” If you haven’t checked out Bear’s blog yet, you can read his posts about working on TSCC here. Also on the musical front, Blabbermouth.net has a small piece from the band Shinedown whose song “Second Chance” was used in the Season Two promotional vid: (no word on what would happen when Dennis Duffy and Charley Dixon met) and
This song is for me the most personal song on the record because it’s about how I grew up and my childhood… It’s about throwing caution to the wind and going after what you truly want in life.
For industry watchers, MediaBuyerPlanner.com has an article on the competitiveness of FOX’s fall line-up versus ABC. TSCC gets a mention. Finally, SlashFilm has a pretty cool suggestion for what to do with all those endoskeleton bits left over after humanity wins Future!War.

TerminatorSite: The San Diego Chronicles, Part 2: Thomas Dekker & Summer Glau Interview

Following the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles panel at this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego (where some spoilers were revealed to a packed crowd!), many members of the cast and crew took some time to speak with the press. Today, we spotlight the roundtable discussion with Thomas Dekker (John Connor) and Summer Glau (Cameron).... The most notable change, both in previews for Season 2 and in the few promotional shots and appearances that we've seen so far, is that Thomas Dekker's hair as John is much shorter. "The hair thing's weird, because a lot of people ask if it was for [T:SCC] or for the movie I did over the break, where I had to shave my head and shave my eyebrows off and everything," he says. "We've always from day one wanted to have the long hair and then cut it off as another way of stripping away his identity, [but] it was for the movie, originally," he reveals. Sarah Connor Chronicles: News & Rumors - Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles"I purposely wanted to play the role in the first season very weak, and hiding behind his hair, and like a little kid," Dekker explains. "We did that on purpose even though we knew it would kind of frustrate a lot of people who wanted to see this savior, [who were asking] 'where is he'? To then in the second season, where he goes through this huge thing that I can't disclose - a bunch of things at the very beginning of the season that change him," he says. This new bolder John Connor will even get to handle some weaponry this year. "I fight people, I shoot people... I wasn't doing it all last year," he teases. Summer Glau's Cameron will also change as we enter the new season. "After the explosion, Cameron does get damaged, and she's more unpredictable than ever," Glau says. "John already had issues with having someone with him all of the time, trying to protect him, and now he meets a new girl, and he pulls away from Cameron, so that's something that Cameron's really struggling with. I think she's really struggling with jealousy, in a way that a robot can't really feel jealous, but her whole purpose in life is to protect John, and when John takes that away from her, she's lost." Cameron's reactions and evolution are a big part of what separates The Sarah Connor Chronicles from Terminator projects that have come before, though Glau promises that no shortcuts will be taken and that the show will not "sell out." "We really want to stay true to what a Terminator is, and what they should be, but when I took the role I really had a feeling that we were going to go further than any Terminator has before, and I think that that's one of Josh's goals," she confirms. Sarah Connor Chronicles: News & Rumors - Terminator: Sarah Connor ChroniclesCameron's backstory will be fleshed out a bit in the fourth episode of Season Two as the show revisits the future to learn the origins of the character. "That's my favorite episode of Season 2!" Dekker exclaims. Glau agrees. "I'm so excited about it. I wish I could say things about it, but it's probably the most exciting acting I've ever done," she says. "You're going to love that episode," Dekker promises. "I read it in a Starbucks, and at one point yelled so loud in shock, and the whole place looked at me like I was a nutcase. It was kind of funny." TerminatorSite: The San Diego Chronicles, Part 1: Josh Friedman Interview

Following the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles panel at this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego (where some spoilers were revealed to a packed crowd!), many members of the cast and crew took some time to speak with the press.TSCC CAST SE2 We'll be rolling out the interviews within this coming week, but first we'll sit down with executive producer Josh Friedman, who will share with us a little about what to expect from Season Two. Be warned, some spoilers may follow. Friedman began the junket by discussing a revelation that came out at the convention's panel, which was held preceding the Q&A. "I think one thing that we revealed at the panel that was quite shocking to the panel was that one of the people on the panel was going to die this season, and then since they don't know which one, it was a little unnerving for them, and they seemed distracted for the rest of the day," Friedman teases. He wouldn't reveal who would be on the way out, however. "You could narrow it down a little bit, but why do that? Lena, literally, was like 'I'll show up on time, I promise!'," he laughs.Cromartie Although the second season doesn't have the challenge of the writers' strike, other challenges of production are a bit more difficult in Season Two - even though the show will have a higher budget. "Ironically, we were given more money this year than we had last year, so we decided that we needed to make an even bigger show than we made last year. It's quite challenging. We're doing a lot more days on location; bigger stunts, and car chases, stuff like that we did some of last year, but there were certainly episodes that were smaller, and this year, there are episodes that are quite large. It's interesting," he says, also revealing that there will be some really big stunts, including a car flip in the season premiere. Being on a network like FOX, which has cancelled many genre shows before they really would get a chance, provides no concern for Friedman. "It's a different group," Friedman says. "Kevin Reilly [and crew] were not there when the Firefly thing went down." Friedman seems happy with the show's placement on the FOX network. "What I like about FOX is that they are a more disruptive network in terms of their taste. They will do things in order to make noise," he says. "A lot of the other networks, they want people to watch their show, but maybe they're a little more polite about it, and I think FOX will embrace the things that we need to have on our show. No one ever says, is that a little too dark, or is that a little violent, or is that too edgy, or whatever. The Terminator franchise needs to live out on that edge, and I think that's FOX's reputation. I think that they're the closest to cable in some ways, in terms of what they're willing to push."Another concern or question about The Sarah Connor Chronicles is whether or not Season 2 will have self-contained episodes or if it will have an ongoing storyline. "I'm not a big fan of standalone storytelling. I think the Destiny is worth the fightbest science fiction is inherently serialized and I am a serialized storyteller. It's what I like. I really only want to be doing serialized television," Friedman reveals. "I think that what we found last year is that there were people that were trying to access the show some episodes in, and they were frustrated by that. I felt like I was trying to tell some very complicated stories and do a very seralized version of those complicated stories, and I wasn't allowing for any standalone elements. There were very few access points for people, if they missed a few episodes." However, Friedman would like to make the show accessible for new viewers. "I would love for somebody to be able to jump in on episode 2 or 3 and at least have an experience where they understood 70 percent of it. It's never going to be CSI or Law & Order; it's always going to be seralized. It's a saga, and it'll never not be serialized. It will never be 'Terminator of the Week'," he says. However, a story device in Season 2 will help stories along. "There is something that happens in the first couple of episodes, where they discover something that allows them to have a particular engine to go on missions, so that there are missions, but they're also sort of tied in to the larger mythology. There is a little teaser in the [season 2 preview] clip that if you saw something and froze it, that perhaps it would indicate how they might go on missions and have standalone episodes, but it's going to go. I get bored." Changes are in store for John Connor as the show approaches its second season. "He's got a tougher haircut, for example. I hated Thomas's hair last year. He used to come to me on the set, and I'd be looking at him and all I'd be doing is looking up at his hair, and he was like 'You hate my hair?' And I go, 'Yeah I do! Let's shave it off!' We couldn't, because we were shooting a lot of episodes out of order, so we were stuck in this weird continuity loop, so I couldn't change his look, because we were shooting Episode 4, but it was airing episode 8, or whatever. It was a mess. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles season 1 and season 2 coming soon!!!But we always talked about it. And then this year, I had an idea for the first episode that involved some significant changes between John and Sarah, and that sort of propelled them forward, and then as it happened, he did a movie within the break where he had to shave his head," Friedman reveals. He has nothing but good things to say about Thomas Dekker, the young actor who plays John. "Thomas is one of the smartest actors I know, and he's very, very brave, and he's very aware of the franchise," he says. As far as John's interaction with Derek Reese, played by new series regular Brian Austin Green, Friedman reveals that Derek and John don't always have the same agenda. "Part of what Thomas and I have talked about is [that] John is getting kind of tougher and he's coming into his own, [but] it doesn't necessarily mean he's becoming more mature all the time. He can make a lot of poor choices, and I think that he's still a kid." Fans looking for interaction between Derek and John shouldn't have to wait for very long. "There's one episode we've already shot that's entirely a Derek and John episode, in terms of the big story, and you get to see a lot of the contrasts in terms of how they approach things. He's not where he needs to be yet, and he hasn't seen what Derek has seen, so I think that there's still a lot of interplay that still needs to take place." Season Two will also bring a love interest for John, played by Leven Rambin of All My Children fame. The introduction of the character, Riley, will bring forth some conflict between John and Sarah. "In a mother-son relationship, there's always another woman involved," Friedman says. "Last year, that other woman was Cameron; this character Riley serves that purpose. I also think that she'll serve the purpose in challenging the bonds that are between John and Cameron."Comic-Con Pictures When asked if CameronSarah Connor Chronicles: News & Rumors - Terminator: Sarah Connor ChroniclesWhat is the most valuable thing to her? Well, John Connor is the most valuable thing to her. He's not going to die, but that doesn't mean their relationship can't die. No one has ever said in the franchise that at the end of the day they didn't go separate ways strategically. You have to examine it and you have to try to find things to do with [the relationship], because that's the stuff that I'm interested in, so you have to challenge it. Lena, as an actress, loves to run around and kick ass. Put a gun in her hands and let her get punched or punch somebody, and she's the happiest girl around, but she also really loves the real nitty-gritty emotional stuff. She really loves digging into that kind of stuff, and I think she's so good at it, and she's so intense," Friedman says. Season Two of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles comes at a time when a new Terminator film, Terminator: Salvation, is on the way. Friedman says that this does not add pressure to his work. "I don't feel the pressure because I'm ignorant, I guess," Friedman says. McG and I have talked a few times, but I've never read the script for it; James Middleton who is one of our other EP's is one of the people who developed the script, but I've never asked him what happens in it, and I don't really wnat to know. McG and I have just sort of decided that it was best if I did my thing and he did his thing. But, you know, it's a 200 million dollar movie. Their trailers cost as much as our shows do. But, I mean, we've done a lot of hours now on the show, and I feel like what TV does bet is character. At the end of the day, that's what we do best." However, Friedman does seem optimistic that both projects can co-exist. "I hope that the two of them actually help each other. There's no problem," he says. would possibly be jealous of the John and Riley relationship, Friedman reveals that it is in her program to at least be affected by it strategically. "In the way that she thinks it's not in the best interest of the future, that John be away from her, then yeah. Absolutely," he says. Expect more conflict between John and Sarah as the second season continues, as well. "One of the big things I've done with Sarah is take John away from her, sort of, as a dependable son. I think that last year, that character could really take for granted his love and his approval, and I think one of the things when you're writing these things, is that you want to try to find challenges for the character. Terminator: The Sarah Connor ChroniclesCheck out the Latest Interview with the Producers!

"Friedman also revealed that there will be more self-contained episodes in the upcoming season. “If we learned anything last year, sometimes the show got overly complicated. There were heavy mythology episode and serialized and we're trying this year to tell—I don't want to say less complicated, but maybe slightly less ambitious stories.”

Terminator executive producer James Middleton discusses the dilemma that the new film Terminator: Salvation might bring to the show's timeline. “Both the show and the movie take certain inspirations from the Terminator mythology and certain themes are important like the value of sacrifice, perseverance and faith,” he explained. “What we did in the pilot is put them in the present day, so there is a new timeline and can only be seen on this show. I wouldn't call them inconsistencies though. The franchise has always had this idea [that] a new fate can be created by time travel … so it's consistent with the mythology in that way.”".. I love wandering around the web looking for something specific and finding something else instead. Look at what I found. I have NO idea when this was recorded other than sometime before Season 1 began. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Thomas looking this preppy before! LOL! Enjoy the snippet video!
Sarah Connor Chronicles: News & Rumors - Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles TerminatorSite has learned that the third episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season Two is called "Goodbye To All That." Roles being cast are Tran, Marty, a Senior Cadet, Bedell, Marty's Mom, General Hobbes, Pyle, and a Terminator. Added May 29, 2008 Former Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has been cast as a series regular for Season 2. She will be patherine Weaver, the CEO of a "cutting-edge high-tech company" which could very well be Cyberdyne. New Characters Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is currently seeking two new actresses to join the cast of the show for Season Two. "Becky" is a teenage girl (high school age) and is said to be a "hot hipster." She's probably going to be a love interest for John. "Catherine" is the CEO of a major organization and is said to be "unusually Earthy." She'll be in her 30's or early 40's. We'll let you know when and if any casting announcements are made. Both roles are said to be series regulars. Other Spoilers Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles executive producer Josh Friedman spoke with members of the press in early May about the upcoming second season of the show. While TerminatorSite was not included in the junket (very lame, FOX)... here are some highlights (be warned of spoilers): - Summer Glau will be back, in full force. - Brian Austin Green is joining the cast as a series regular, so, no New 90210 for him. - Some very minor spoilers from Mr. Friedman: "The show is about the family and everything that concerns the family concerns us. Last year, John was still in denial and didn’t want the problems of being a hero. This season will be his coming of age year. John will grow up and what will be interesting is that as the boy grows into a man, the less he’ll needs his mother. Sara’s ex will also be back. As will Agent Ellison. And I think it’s fair to say that Agent Ellison has seen some things that will make him re-consider everything he’s known before." - Friedman is not big on the idea of cameos, so we probably won't be seeing Linda Hamilton or Michael Biehn. - The goal is for next season to incorporate more action. More "Future War" episodes are possible, but they are the most expensive to make, and the msot time consuming.
