| After having spoken to sickbay, the recovering Trogs were brought up to the busy hangar on wheeled stretchers. Everyone in the hangar looked at the woman surgeon pushing the second stretcher, Kate Connor was unmistakable with her long chestnut hair in a braid down her back. The Major faltered: "Uh, I wanted it done quickly Colonel Connor, but there must have been someone else who could have brought them up?". Kate smiled "At ease Major, it was on my way anyhow. I was curious to see one of your famous helicopters plus that you are due for a checkup and you can't evade me now. So be a good patient and let me have a look at that leg wound I patched up after that raid you pulled. H/K landing site, wasn't it? John was quite pleased with the results. Sit on that crate over there. Should have checked you up but General and I have been elsewhere and you've been away quite a bit." "Everyone's busy. Skynet never sleeps", the major replied while pulling his combat fatigues off his left leg. Mathilda was looking amused but the major just pointed at the stretchers and at the chopper and she promptly got busy with loading the chopper. Normally Green wouldn't have been bossed around by anybody with subordinates around, but this was Kate Connor, the General's wife and one of the the top field surgeons the Resistance had. She was famous for doing her checkups on the fly on patients who didn't come back for checkups when they were due and she never left anything to chance. Kate took a look at his scarred thigh, put one hand on the kneecap and the other on his foot. "Push to extend" she ordered. The major did as being told and was rewarded with a sudden shot of pain, but he managed to extend his leg a little. Kate was stronger than she looked but the Major already knew that from having fought beside her in the past. "How did that go?" she demanded. "That was ... fine." "Really? You make grimaces when you're fine? No macho bull now. I think I've patched you up enough times to deserve an honest answer." "It hurt, Kate." "How badly? If 10 is where you can't take it and 1 is a tickle, where was that?" "5 ... I think". "Good. Try to keep the pain under 4, that gives you the use of your leg while not interfering with the healing process. I think I'm done here." "Right, I will Kate. And thanks." "No problem Major, fly safely. Godspeed.". With that she turned and walked over to the orderly handling the stretchers, exchanged a few words and then she disappeared off to whatever business she was up to. Mathilda interrupted his watching of Kate Connor leaving the hangar by telling him that they would be set in 10 minutes. The major went to get his shotgun from the armoury. As he returned, Mathilda was already in the cockpit doing flight-check and the engines had begun to turn. The Major climbed in, secured the doors and strapped himself into the co-pilot seat. Seven was sitting behind them on the cockpit floor, still blindfolded. |
