  • Here's another crazy thought-- you better be sitting down for this one Call it a shameless plug or a brilliant marketing strategy, whichever you prefer. I'd call it a way to get more water cooler talk for your show, so there's a better chance at a second season! =)

There was a lot of media and internet buzz after the mock squabbling between Conan O'Brien, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert spanning all three of their shows during the writer's strike.

I wonder if that could be a way to stealth market Terminator: SCC on two networks and three popular shows and get a lot of exposure. It's silly, but that is in keeping with all three shows' skits anyway.

Book at least Summer and Thomas on Conan, Stewart's, and Colbert's show and have them do a semi-serious interview on Conan (either as a regular "talk up the Terminator" plug leading into a scripted skit or they come on in character and Conan interviews them as if they were the characters-- like when Borat made his rounds), which progesses into Conan getting worked up over the old feud between Stewart & Colbert for some reason. He gets a maniacal idea: yeah, I've got a terminator on my show and I know just how to use her! Conan zaps Summer (Cameron?) with a big stun gun and drags her off stage and holds a concerned Thomas (John?) at bay with a gun.

In Conan's evil laboritory he reprograms Cameron with a new target: his old enemies Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert!! Of course, John finds out his plans and rushes to save Jon and Stephen from a terrible fate... and get Cameron back!

    To be continued...

  • Episode Ratings Episode 6 ratings :

"Fox capped off the evening with the season-finale of Prison Break (Viewers: #3, 7.40 million; A18-49: #2, 3.1/ 8), which has no doubt lost the former water-cooler buzz, and renewal-worthy Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Viewers: #4, 8.09 million; A18-49: #3, 3.2/ 8). Comparably, Sarah Connor built from Prison Break by 690,000 viewers and three percent among adults 18-49."

  • No Episode next week???
"I live in St. Louis, and the people here are such sports freaks it doesn't matter WHAT is on....of course the Cards, Rams & Blues come first, but if they have to watch a 4th rate unknown college game just to see a sporting event they will....I have actually seen Hurling on at a bar before.....it's weird, just don't get it...."
I think it's like that just about everywhere - nobody with a Y chromosome here in the Atlanta metro area is allowed to talk about anything other than football around the water cooler on Mondays. From what I can tell, the entire southern US is the same - at least those cities with a football team, anyway.
Want some real proof of concept, check out a city with only one sports team and see how many people who barely even understand the sport will actually PAY for tickets just because there's no other sport to watch.

  • who says the Connors don't have Efficiants Gun's ??? The recoil of that weapon is really great, like a kick in your shoulder.. but a good kick :) And the muzzle flash is really bright too, like really blinding at night. And holding it/running around with it like Derek did....
When he fired the weapon at point blank range, the .50 shell/grenade would not have cocked off as it did in the episode. The shell needs to travel a certain distance before it "activates". As mentioned earlier, this is a heavy sniper rifle for destroying materiel at a distance.
It looks cool for sure, but had been even cooler if the directors had added more realism.
Or maybe its just me with a nose for the little details to make it an even better show. It would have been really cool to be allowed to give the directors some real feedback on stuff like this though.. :)

  • GREAT NEWS! FOX asked for episodes 14 and 15 to be written! Man, imagine if there was no writer's strike. 13 episodes go last year from mid January to April, with the show airing right after 24 on Mondays. There would've been 18+ million viewers, and more plot and intrigue last year before the jeep explosion finale.

Then this fall 22 episodes would've been ordered, Prison Break would be so thankful that this new smash hit would be propping them up, and Heroes employees would be pissed that they have to go on the same night as TSCC. The first 11 episodes would air before Christmas, then the last 11 would start in mid January, and the viewers would jump from 12 million to 20 as another season of 24 starts. The finale in late April or early May would have 22 million viewers, and Fox would order 2 more seasons over the summer.

We would be talking about the same things here, minus the cancellation fears. In summer 2009 we would hear that the main 4 character in TSCC are getting a pay raise. Millions would be irritated at T4 for any deviations from TSCC's plot and continuity. There would be rumors then about which new show would be so lucky to air right after TSCC in September 2009 after Prison Break ended for good the previous May.

The effects budget for season three would be increased 25%. In season 3, the ratings would stay consistent at 15-20 million, as the 4th best Fox show after American Idol, 24, and House. There would be a huge cliffhanger at the end of season 3, and everybody would be wondering all summer.

Then the 4th season would start, and Judgment Day is less than a year away. Fox suits want another year, and lots of arguments about that would occur all over the internet, but the story is complete after 4. The show's finale in May 2010 would be talked about by millions, and be water cooler talk at work for even people who don't like sci-fi.

Maybe we can get closer to that denied destiny with this piece of news. I hope so.

  • Is There Any Hope of Saving This Show????? There has been a lot of talks lately about the declining ratings of SCC and how if the trend continues Fox won't order more than the 13 episodes already in the pipeline (http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/09/sarah-connors-1.html). I hate to say this but to be honest, after watching the last couple of episodes I would have to agree with them.

First off let me say that I have been a die hard terminator fan in every form possible. I've watched the movies hundreds of times, I've read most of the comics and growing up had a ton of the action figures. I LOVE the terminator world and LOVED the first season of SCC.

For all these reasons I should be the biggest proponent of the second season, but they've nearly driven me to hate the show.

Instead of continuously developing the main characters and their relationships to eachother, we are continuously bombarded by a slew of nobodies that are endlessly boring and ultimately worthless.

From the stupid guy from the powerplant to Riley to that pregnant lady next door who drones on and on about her baby and cop boyfriend, I feel like we waste more screen time on these nobodies than on the characters that I actually am supposed to care about. Namely: Sarah, John, and Cameron.

The story doesn't feel like it's headed in any clear direction. No progress is being made. No interesting reveals. Is there any hope for this show? Can it pull itself back from the black hole of cancellation by speeding up Shirely Mansons's painfully slow story? Let's deal more with the interplay of Cameron's machine logic but fascination with human customs.
There is just too much quality television on these days for viewers to put up with less than well thought out stories that move in a solid direction, that build tension and reveal answers.

(As an example of sloppy writing, what happened to their code word for the cell phones?)

  • Toni Graphia on Derek's Death
"And they all didn't know it was a Terminator either."
Yes, that's a good point. In John's, Sarah's, and Derek's earlier encounter with the water cooler thugs, they were all human goons sent tby he Kaliba AI. Still operating under that assumption, they were unprepared for a battle with a terminator sent by future Skynet.

And BTW, why would the Skynet term use the same bottled water company uniform as the Kaliba goons? What's up with that?

Lastly, as has been pointed out, BAG himself may have asked to be written out of TSCC, and Josh Friedman simply complied by writing in a hurried death scene. Still, they could at least have managed to give it a little more emotional impact. Even if they wanted him to go down after a sudden, unexpected shot, using slo mo would have given that scene more ooomph.

  • Sarah's Inconsistencies
    "

But Sarah realises she can rely on her at least up to a point, but because of her independent behaviour Sarah can't fully trust her.
When Cameron “go's bad,” this makes having her around a completely untenable situation from Sarah's point of view.
Up until that point Sarah didn't know that a reprogrammed Terminator could revert to it's original role.
From that point onwards, with the certain knowledge that Cameron could at any given moment turn on them, Sarah should have gotten rid of her at the first convenient moment regardless of what John thought, "
Getting rid of Cameron would be nonsensical, IMO.

In the movies there was just one terminator. In TSCC there are many. Cromartie, Carter, Stark, Vick, Water Cooler Guy, Ellison copy, the Sherman assassin copy, the Fields terminator, the Greenway terminator...

Who knows how many *more* Skynet sent back?

Sarah cannot destroy terminators. She, Derek, and John would have died multiple times from Terminators. If Cameron was not there in Mr. Ferguson is Ill Today to do the shotgun run, Cromartie would have killed Derek and Sarah (9mm bullets from MP5s would do nothing to his armor other than knock him off balance).

Believing Sarah, Derek, and John can handle the terminators on their own is tactically unsound. The *only* way they have ever beaten a terminator is either via Cameron or by trickery. Cromartie was trickery. Cameron was sent to kill all the others. Sarah would have died in Automatic for the People or if she returned to Sherman's office, or if she attempted to rescue Savannah without Cameron.

While I can see the argument on getting rid of Cameron, it comes down to either the enemy you KNOW will murder you in a blink of an eye or the "enemy" who may, but probably wont baring some grievous injury, turn on you.

Getting rid of Cameron would have been the worse decision imaginable and made no sense.
