20. RE: FOX picks up TSCC for 2nd season!!!
Feb 24 2008, 6:11 PM EST
I hop this is true, but like others I've looked elsewhere (e.g. Variety) and haven't found any confirmation.I don't expect to see a renewal announcement until after the season finale on 3/3, just 8 days from now. Then Fox and Warner Brothers (the studio that makes SCC) will both have a solid measure of the success of season one and can negotiate with more confidence. If the show finishes off the season with some good numbers I think it will be a slam-dunk. This season Monday's most powerful show has been Deal or No Deal. It was on at a 8:00, with some extended shows that went to 9:30 or 10. Now NBC has moved it from 8:00 PM to 9:00, right opposite SCC. That's going to hurt SCC this coming episode, 2/25. It looks better for the 2-hour finale on 3/3. It starts at 8:00 with little competition. It's hard to imagine anyone changing channels half way through it to watch Deal or No Deal. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Deal or No Deal is for retards. If people would rather watch a stupid guessing game that takes about as much skill as accidentally knocking teeth out than a show that actually took real talent to make, then our pathetic species deserves Judgment Day.

Why is it that everyone ignored me when I said that the topic creator is full of BS? He tried the exact same thing on another forum and got called on it.A healthy practice on the internet is to never believe someone who walks in, and starts a lavish claim with "Hey, guess what I heard?" and then offers no source for his information. If people are going to be this gullible when it comes to misinformation, then it becomes very hard to resist not BSing people just for fun. I just heard that in the season finale, Cameron builds uses the colton rod and T-888 CPU to build a naughty toy. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I hop this is true, but like others I've looked elsewhere (e.g. Variety) and haven't found any confirmation. That's not true. Deal or No Deal airs on NBC at 8 ET. Fox moved The Moment of Truth, a popular show in its own right, to Monday at 8 to compete. TSCC airs at 9 ET and competes with a movie on ABC, a re-run of Two and a Half Men on CBS, and "My Dad is Better Than Your Dad" on NBC. I'm really excited -- Moment of Truth is pretty popular, so it should provide some kind of lead-in for TSCC. Personally, I think TSCC will get renewed and will air in January 2009 to lead-in for 24. The audience for TSCC and 24 seems to be equal, and TSCC has gotten pretty damn good ratings for having no lead-in. Remember, Bionic Woman was getting 4 million viewers. Fox continues to promote the show pretty heavily... I think we have a winner, but we have to (1) keep watching!!! and (2) tell Fox as loudly as we can how much we love the show and that it should get renewed! 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

They'd better not make us wait till January for the next season. This season (9 eps) was ridiculously short, and if we have to wait until NEXT FREAKING YEAR to get more, then I'm going to be PO'd, especially if the next season isn't significantly longer. I'm hoping that they do like with The Office, where Season 1 was very short, but the subsequent seasons are much longer.

IMO it's still too long of a wait. I'd rather get season 2 in the fall and then have a break from sometime in December until January.

NBC keeps moving Deal or No Deal around. Here's the Eastern Time schedule for Monday 3/3: http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?fromTimeInMillis=1204592400000 This, and all of the sources that I checked, say that NBC will be showing a repeat of last week's premier of My Dad Is Better Than Your's at 8:00, and a new Deal or No Deal at 9:00, as I said. I guess that they figure that My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad just needs some help getting started, so they're going to try tricking people into watching it by putting in Deal or No Deal's traditional 8:00 slot ;-). They were planning on doing something like that tomorrow (2/22), They were going to show a new episode of My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad at 8:00, and move Deal or No Deal to 9:00. That's what you'll see in print sources published last week, like TV Guide. However, they've since changed their schedule for tomorrow, and now they'll be have Deal or No Deal at it's traditional time, 8:00, and My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad at 9:00, and which is what outlander00 said. S/he was looking at the newer source. That scheduling of Deal or No Deal helps SCC -- now SCC won't be competing with it on either tomorrow 2/22 or next week 3/3. Instead it will be competing with My Dad Is Better Than Your's, which is less of a challenge. Last week it had 9.8 million viewers overall, compared to Deal or No Deal's 16.9 million. Otherwise as noted by outlander00. SCC will follow Moment of Truth, which got 14.5 million viewers overall last week, making it a great lead-in. P.S. It's too bad everyone couldn't just get a TiVo or other DVR, and not have to choose between shows. I hate having to even think about how this scheduling crap influences the success or failure of our shows! Do you find this valuable? |

I'm old -- 53. You know how it seems that every year the networks do more unexpected schedule shuffling and cancellations each year? It's not just you -- it's absolutely true. Shows were never canceled in the middle of a season. If it started in September, it would get it's 22 episodes. Schedules were written in concrete. Gunsmoke was on for 20 years (no joke), and it's time slot was only changed once in that time. Flash forward to 2006, when the lovely Heather Graham's sitcom "Emily's Reasons Why Not" was canceled after one episode! (Yes, they aired the 6 other episodes that were already in the can, but the cancellation announcement was made right after the pilot was aired.) I don't think it's because the networks are now full of evil people, but I do wish they would at least try to allow shows that have an established audience to have endings, the way Battlestar Galactica is doing it. That shows much more respect toward the audience. Do you find this valuable? |

Sorry, wrong quote..."The show's first season was shortened due to the writers' strike, but luckily next week's two-hour finale ends with a decent cliffhanger. And Friedman is lumping together his plans for the original end of season one with the planned second season to create a new second season." Do you find this valuable? |

"As for the future of the series, Friedman promised, "Yes, I've mapped it out. Yes, I know where we're going." Season 1 ends with the ninth episode, cut down from the intended 13, thanks to the recently concluded writers' strike. Friedman said Episode 9 ends with a big cliffhanger, but that was "purely luck,' as it was meant to be a cliffhanger for the next week's episode, that now will function as one for the whole season. http://tv.ign.com/articles/854/854575p2.html 5 out of 5 found this valuable. I think it's reassuring that someone working on the show is finally talking openly and they are pretty optimistic. I'd say.More: http://thearnoldfans.com/news/1240.htm TAFs: The show is fantastic and everyone wants it to come back for season two. But sometimes FOX can pull the plug on a project too early. It's ratings are by far greater than longer-lasting, hit shows like Battlestar Gallactica or Smallville and DVR recording numbers for Terminator are something to celebrate... and yet, we are unsure of FOX's plans. Please tell me it will BE BACK! John Wirth: I believe we will be renewed but no one has said that to me. This show has always been the little engine that could. I mean, it's a big, flashy, well-known franchise. I think it's good to go! I'd be very surprised if it doesn't come back. But it's been a battle every step of the way with the strike and everything.
