What do you think the connection is between Derek and Cameron?

One thng we all know, is that Derek has some history (or future) with Cameron that we don't know about. I think that Derek has such many bad memories of the Terminators that he does not like them one way or the other but because she is so close to John in the Future he does not want to go in between John and Cameron as she might be some good help in the future to come while he is learning in school and Cameron is learning what humans do and as well as that cameron is also collecting information about the terminator for john in the future war to come.

I do think that the music plays a part in the mystery. The person that Derek meets in the Basement is either Cameron or another version of her. You never know because there may be two Camerons out there. One bad one good. Or she could be the same robot but later was reprogramed and modified by John Connor to have a emotion program. But personally I think that their are two Camerons.Just imagine what it would be like if Skynet sent back a bad Cameron for her to replace the good one without John Knowing. Sort of like what the T-1000 wanted to do by replacing Sarah Connor and trick John and kill him. You never know. But I think their are Two Camerons(TOK's) because I think John may have reprogramed Cameron to have special emotional abilities. Common because John is a good programer. He is able to hack the government main-frame really easily. Plus he is able to hack a terminator chip to prick it for information. So yes I think John has the potential to totally reprogram a robot to be human possibly. The other Cameron I think may play a more prominent role next season. They may send another one back in time to kill John. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference only if the real Cameron started to develop a more close friendship with John. It could be that he simply hates machines.But with that ballet scene it's quite possible that it may be something more.It's possible that as an infiltrator that Cameron(when with Skynet) may have infiltrated the resistance and Derek may have known her. He may not have been able to pick up on any peculiarities that would have led him to believe she was anything more than human since they may have moved from base to base. In other words he may have come into contact with her in passing. Some have suggested that they may have had a relationship. I guess that might be possible or he could have liked her the way John does. John may have figured out what she was and reprogrammed her unbeknownst to Derek and all of a sudden he doesn't see her at any of the bases anymore as she is working closely with John. Could be that John was testing Derek and crew in the basement(since skynet probably wouldn't have released them John was probably behind the capture)to see if they could be trusted. And he may have used a reprogrammed Cameron to do it. It would have been a shock to Derek (even if he just knew her in passing ) because he had been fooled. I do think there may be something more to it than just the basement because of Derek's strong reaction to her -- in fact he called her a bitch. That made me think he was looking at her as a female and not just a machine. It's just that with the language if it was just about being a machine I would have thought he might have called her a thing(like get that thing away from me). The reaction did seem more personal to me. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

The music cues definitely tie in Derek with Cameron in the basement. Apparently, Cameron is partial to this type of music - perhaps as part of her infiltrator programming. I believe Cameron in the basement was a Skynet-controlled model, maybe as an interrogator who specialized in non-brutal methods of torture (waterboarding, anyone?) to extract information. Sensory overload (by distracting music), sleep deprivation, and any number of methods could have been employed by her.Notice Derek seemed exhausted, yet no marks on his body? He was tortured, but he wasn't beat up. That's how he recognized her when he got back to the human base - and tried to shoot her (even knowing his pistol would have little effect). That's why he called her a metal bitch in the police van. Too many clues to rule out Cameron as Derek's interrogator. That's why he would rather have died than let her touch him (and he almost did). 6 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

I wish it was that simple -- there is just too many things could have happened down there and we have a while to wait to get answers - and we better get a second season to get those answers -- and no actors strike.

Another point... when Derek goes to find John in the future he runs into Cameron in the control room (or wherever) and immediately yells, "METAL!" Somehow, he new *immediately* that she was a Terminator from across the room...mysterious, eh? 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

But if he is having this little back and forth word battle with Cameron... then why is he keeping his knowledge from the Connors? Is it something Future John told him before he went back? Why does he react so violently to Cameron in the future and when being rescued in the present upon seeing her... and then all of a sudden switches gears and just just snarks at her and says she's a liar? Inconsistancy in the writing? Why the sudden change in attitude? If he was brainwashed in the basement, wouldn't he have not reacted to Cameron BOTH TIMES the way he did? I'm still not sure where the writers are trying to take this particular mystery. The only thing we REALLY know out of all this is that Cameron, by dancing, is showing that she is becoming more than your ordinary, run of the mill Terminator and is on some sort of path on par with humanity. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. When Derek went into the basement, both John and Cameron were there waiting for him. Given Derek's general dislike of machines (an understatement), it's understandable that he "hates" Cameron. However, John instructed Derek that he must work with Cameron in the past. While he does not like it, he is just following orders.

If he knew Cameron was going to be there on a mission, wouldn't he not be so reactionary? Are they just trying to sow seeds of doubt about Cameron? I think things would starting falling into place if they showed the resistance fighting Skynet controlled "Cameron" models and other humanoid Terminator copies to show that Derek may not have known WHICH Cameron he was facing. Cameron's "look" is not unique. She even stated her particular model was assembled and brought on-line at that storage bunker in Heavy Metal. I even think it would be cool in a flash forward sequence (or staggered sequence of side stories) to show what OUR Cameron was like BEFORE John captured and reprogrammed her. That way, it's like the new Cameron, underneath it all, is trying to make amends for the misdeeds of her former self. Like a sort of redemption of her character. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Is it possible that Cameron was the one that was supposed to be calling the shots under John's orders and Derek didn't want to take orders from a machine. I really think a lot of this jostling about with Derek in relation to John is that he's actually somewhat jealous of John's trusting of Cameron. I mean he couldn't get in to see John but the machine(Cameron) turns out to be John's own personal messenger proving that she has access to John. As for other models that look just like her -- that's very possible but it's also possible that Cameron has changed her appearance at some point in time -- whether the future or present -- just like Cromartie did. Nevertheless, I have been thinking the same thing that it would be wonderful to see a flashforward of what Cameron was like before. I guess that would have to Derek's FF unless they introduce a new character or just have a whole FF eppy. Then again maybe Cameron's memory can somehow be recalled even though it was scrubbed. There are just so many thing that we don't know about her and what she can or cannot do. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
