The references to Cameron being the "Tinman" are basically the same as Guinan calling Cmdr Data the same name in Star Trek TNG. Do you find this valuable?

I suggested before that they could get a puppy (maybe Derek brings one home as a mean little trick "Build Day" Present for Cameron) to train as another warning sentinel backup since he doesn't trust Cameron anyway (perhaps a German Shepherd since Sarah had one at the end of T1 and we don't have our Toto yet).

However, things don't go quite according to his plan because instead of reacting negatively towards her... it actually takes a liking to Cameron to Derek's (and everyone else's) surprise! And maybe it's one possible way that Cameron gets better at caring for another life, and it's like they bond (though Cameron only really shows it affection in more subtle ways).

A little twist on a theme.

Perhaps on a sad note one of the evil Terminators or other bad guy hot on their trail (Chromartie or another enemy) kills the dog when it starts yipping and growling at it. The dog's death actually affects Cameron in a somewhat emotional way... you didn't think she really felt for it (though you might have just seen her feed it, walk it, pet or scratch it behind the ears seemingly offhandedly when it cuddles up to her, tell it to sit, and maybe give it a look once in a while-- but the dog still responds happily and obediently to her)... but she actually did care for it.

Maybe that this enemy killed "her dog" ticks her off and "getting" them becomes personal for her. It's pay back time and when she does come face to face, her responses (body language and facial expressions and aggressiveness, especially) to her enemy show that this is very personal indeed: a completely un-machine like response... and you finally and completely realize that Cameron is very much capable of emotions.

This leads to more realistic, human-like responses to people like John and Sarah and other events. Like a pressure release valve is slowly turning.

Just one idea.

Here's my take....

Tin Man - Cameron
Sarah calls her Tin Man and Tin Miss in one episode. And she seems to be "looking for a heart" when she empathizes with Allison.

Lion - John
He has courage, but his mom always taught him to run from danger. Now he's finally learning to fight.

Dorothy - Sara
She's in Oz (a future with terminators) trying to go home to a world without terminators by stopping SkyNet.

Scarecrow - Agent Ellison
He's trying to understand what's going on (poor guy)

Wicked Witch - Catherine Weaver
She's searching for Dorothy.

I don't think we know yet if catherine weaver is good witch or a bad witch. She always wears whites or light colours. Skynet is oz-like. Somewhere over the mushroom cloud? No, that's the tornado. Somewhere over the microsingularity.

I think I'm going to rewatch season 1 with the sound down while playing Dark Side of the Moon.

In D&D, there was a lion with a Terminator's head in it's mouth painted on the wall of the resistance camp. In "Alison", the aircraft carrier was carrying tigers and bears. Alison said, "I just want to go home". 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm with ya on most of those counts, but I think Derek would fit the scarecrow archetype more than Ellison since he seens to go with gut instinct and brute force rather than strategy and finesse. Example:

John: Well, guess when they say you can't fight City Hall, they really mean it.
Derek: Whoever said didn't have as much plastique as we do.
Sarah: We can't blow up City Hall.
Derek: Oh, it's really not that hard.

"Many viewers have noticed the numerous and varied references to Frank L. Baum's classic childrens book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" throughout Season 1.

What do you think are the significances of the Oz fable to this story in terms of story development, character development, and other deeper concepts of the show?

And if you have concrete examples, be sure to place them in the Wizard of Oz-ology reference list.

Enjoy! "
so...

catherine = Wicked Witch of the West
cameron = tin man
sarah = Dorothy
john = scarecrow (needs a brain)
derek = lion
skynet = wizard

Nice

Someone somewhere pointed out that the poster that the safe was hidden behind had a kitten on it, dangling from a branch, and it said "Hang in there, Baby"; the same thing that was painted next to the Lion in the future. And Riley's nickname for John is, of course, 'Cat Fancy'. "I don't even know your ten favourite scratching posts."

The pilot episode starts with a road, and then the nuclear storm wakes Sarah up to her 'normal' life.

In Heavy Metal, one of the trucks used to cart the coltan is from a company called Tetsuo - Japanese for "Iron Man"

Maybe I'm trying to hard.

OK then, why did they give Enrique a nephew? So he would be Uncle Enrique. ("Uncle Enrique would be proud of you" - Sarah) Enrique is Spanish for Henry.

And in a season 1 conversation with Cheri, John mentions that they both live near Wichita, Kansas. WofOz references abound in T:SCC - it's refeshing to see that in season 2 the writers haven't dropped that theme. Assuming that we get more seasons, it'll be fun to see how they handle the Tin Man/Cameron getting a heart...

And talk about a blast from the past - I can't believe that anyone managed to resurect this long-forgotten thread ;-)
