Why don't the good shows last??????
May 1 2008, 1:39 AM EDT
I don't know about the rest of you but it seems to me, in recent years, that good shows go bye-bye and shows that really suck last forever. I used to only watch Fox for NASCAR and 5th Grader....until Sarah Conner Chronicles came along. I watched the pilot and was hooked from there on out. Next thing I know, there's this petition board to bring it back because, once again, a good show is in danger of being cancelled. Come on Fox! Get with the program.....and keep your GOOD programs going.I mean, you blow up the terminator just so you would have an easy ticket out. We don't even know very much about her model yet. I mean, we knew more about the movie terminators from a 2 hour movie than we know about Cameron from the first season. Well, personally, I think that's the chicken crap (in place of a much better word) way out of giving the fans a decent show to watch and then eventually replacing it with one that really sucks.....that will last for 10 seasons. BRING T:SCC BACK FOR SEASON 2 10 out of 10 found this valuable. Do you? |

Much of the Sarah Connor Chronicle's audience downloads each episode via torrents to watch through their PC without commercials. Since this does not create ratings on the television network, the suits will view it as less popular than it is, therefore the corporate money moves elsewhere.I am confused as to why this season was short myself. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. "Why don't the good shows last??????"Because the networks always want to put on something sucky. And they love to hype up sucky shows on Entertainment Tonight and E! So they hype up the sucky shows, people get curious about the sucky shows..people watch said sucky shows and their ratings go up....THUS...they think the sucky shows are popular based on "curiousity" ratings. First of all, anyone know why I can't (I'm using Firefox on a mac) seem to leave a post on the petition page. You all seem pretty certain that they show is coming back but it seems it must be precarious. Second season, yes. Third season? Fourth Season. I want to put all the support behind this I can. I don't want a show that is rushed to be concluded because it's seasons are limited. Second of all, I do disagree slightly with thegunn slightly. I enjoy the unhurried way that they are unavailing Cameron's model and character. It has that perfect combination lethal alieness and childlike naiveté that made the second movie so great. I also love the final episode last season and felt it was meant much more to be a cliff hanger. It didn't conclude anything and raised lots of new questions so it is hard for me to see calling it a way out. Third of all, I don't torrent the show but I do watch the videos from foxes website Does anyone know if this is counted towards the shows popularity? Do you find this valuable? |

I don't want a show that is rushed to be concluded because it's seasons are limited.1) The show is coming back for at least 13 episodes and will air sometime in late October (it would come back sooner, but FOX is broadcasting baseball's World Series). It will start off preceding "PRISON BREAK", and in January '09 will precede "24" (as PRISON BREAK goes on hiatus). 2) Agree with your assessment. 3) It's hard to say, but I would guess "no". People associated with TSCC might access sites to randomly view threads and membership counts. Although, they do track "clicks" on any link you migh click on (whether this is used to assess popularity is anyone's guess). 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

But sometimes they do In addition, membership with pretty much anything that has to do with a show can also be used (thats one reason why I encouraged everyone to sign up for the TSCC newsletter at Fox, they send you email alerts about the show....how many sign up for it could be used toward other stats to gauge a shows viewership) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. First Joss Whedon's Firefly, now TSCC? I agree, why DO all the great shows get cancelled? What is wrong with the bureaucracy behind Fox ? Is it all old dried out critics who have no clue when something brilliant is written? When a story truly touches on the human side of existence regardless of being cast through a Sci-Fi medium? There is so much in this series that can bring fans in by the stadium load and yet these suits are so eager to cast it aside. Who are these people? Who are the men or women who make the decisions at fox as to which shows will live or die? Honestly, if anything should go from Fox it's them, they're far out of touch with what is good and bad in the media. They're far out of touch with what fans want. Perhaps they're far too interested in lining their pockets with silk, since I'm sure crappy reality shows make them more money, regardless of how enormously little substance they carry compared to a provocative series such as TSCC. I suppose that the majority of audiences in America rather not think about humanity, about psychology, about the way people work and the way A.I. can change the world. Perhaps they're too lazy and rather sit by, apathetic, unresponsive instead of think 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"First Joss Whedon's Firefly, now TSCC?Reality shows seem to be fading in popularity (at least, I hope that's not just wishful thinking on my part), people are starting to come back to shows with things like, well, acting, directing, scriptwriting, cinematography...actual skills and talent... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Just look at American Idol. That show had to get a new judge, why, because the show is old, boring, and tired. So to boost ratings a new judge had to be brought in. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. (the joke I like to use is....on TLC they have a show called "What Not to Wear", well, they need to change it to "What Not to Watch") The only thing that matters are the fans......if we like it, make it.........thats all they need to worry about. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. "If you miss an episode is there a place to watch it on the internet, legally?"If you're in the U.S. http://www.hulu.com/terminator-the-sarah-connor-chronicles And FOX also has it online one day after a new episode airs. http://www.fox.com/fod/player.htm?show=tscc Or if you can buy them on iTunes for 2 bucks each! Plus side is that there aren't any commercials. :D Do you find this valuable? |
