his time with someone else than with her. Yes, even here there is a
mission involved, John being with Riley interferes with her mission to
protect him. But if you remember Data, even before he received the
emotion chip, he would define friendship as (paraphrasing here) being
used to a presence of a certain person and his neural net missing said
person when they're not around. It's something like that here as well,
Cameron's place is at John's side and she will find it difficult that
he's pulling away from her and rather be with Riley than with her. The
word "jealousy" is being used all the time, because the thing is, it
really is a form of jealousy."
