"Cameron wouldn't do that if that wasn't part of her mission. Everything is done on a purpose, but we may not know what it is yet."
Like I've been saying all along. She's an infiltrator!

If you go into one of the other threads where I talk about John and Cameron's relationship, I liken her to a priestess whose god is her mission. A prietess will do anything she can to get a promotion at the Temple and please her god. She cares more about her mission than about John. What Cameron does is like a religious ritual. She only appears to care about John because it's important for her mission. Her feelings are not really for John. Her feelings are for her mission. A failed mission means that she is a failure as a terminator. It's like there's a little Skynet inside her that says, "Cameron you're useless. You're worthless. You're a reject!"

Would Cameron be jealous of Riley?

I think it's more like this. In the Pilot, her flirting with John was effective.

Cameron: I'm doing something right! I fooled him!

Throughout Season 1, John showed signs that he liked her.

Cameron: I must be doing something right!

In Season 2, oh no, Riley is coming into his life!

Cameron: I must be doing something wrong! What I say and do isn't effective anymore. I'm a failure as an infiltrator.

If John was to make Cameron feel better, he'd have to say something like, "Cameron, I think you're a very good infiltrator. What you do is effective."

Cameron: Really?
John: Yes, I think you're very good. You're fantastic.
Cameron: Oh, thank you John. (wiping the tears from her eyes. She doesn't feel like a failure anymore. Her god (mission) will be pleased. She's looking forward to her promotion at the Temple.)

"Is there anything else than 12 year-old girls in the show's fanbase ?"
Hahahahaha. A person who just a few posts up talks about respect, then throws such an insult. I'm a 12 year-old girl. Cool.

How about a more constructive answer?

Remember that in Terminator verse these "toasters" have almost defeated humanity and invented things we couldn't. All because we were arrogant enough to think Skynet was "just a machine" that would do what it's supposed to. Alas we were wrong about that. AI being more than just a mindless tool IS Terminator canon. This puts a dumper into any claim that Cameron cannot be more than her mission requirements.

Also, the way I worded the first reply is to deliberately include multiple interpretations. If you think John has a one sided crash on Cameron, that also counts. And that point of view there is already something romantic standing between the two.

"My question hasn't been answered yet. What's a toaster, apart from a machine that makes your bread go dry?"
It's meant to be a metaphorical. Just like "metal", a piece of hardware and nothing more. You are telling me you couldn't figure that out?

You have the absolute right to be a 12 years-old girl.

But, unlike some other person, I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to watch the show, and I'm not interrogating you like I'm from the Thought Police. I never meant to insult anyone. I was just noticing. 1  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

No, I thought "toaster" might be another way of saying "a smoking hot girl." Toasters make things hot and "burn" the bread you put in them to toast. Was there a reason for me to think that toaster could only mean "emotionless robot?" Was it not reasonable for me to think it was a metaphor for a girl on which you'd have a crush with a passion that burns you to toast?

Why a toaster? Why not a car engine, mixer, lawn mower, fan, electric shaver or Coca Cola vending machine?

Ok yeah, Cameron's a lawn mower! She doesn't have a mind of her own. She just goes where you want her to go. She's just a machine, doesn't have a soul and never will.

That way I wouldn't think it's a metaphor for a girl with which you'd have a crush with a passion that burns you to toast.

"You have the absolute right to be a 12 years-old girl."
Umm, I meant that sarcastically. As in "You say I'm a 12 year-old girl. Cool, thanks for the insult." I'm not a 12 year-old girl.

Thanks for the apology. I know the internet being a written medium it's impossible to convey meaning beyond words, but your message couldn't really be interpreted as anything but an insult. Still I didn't feel insulted, I was laughing that you didn't have a more constructive response. And I wouldn't have said anything in the first place if it wasn't for your "Ever heard of respect" message above.

"I cannot believe 74% of voters believe a romantic thing between John & Cameron should happen.
She is a Terminator, a machine I would'nt call her a toaster but the people who think John & Cameron should get it on must have been affected by the heat of thier own toaster.
Cameron is Johns Body Guard, that is her mission and thats where it should be left."
I guess I am one of 74% but I am not say they should jump at each other on the bed, I am just saying that if goes gradually, and very slow, then it is ok in my Book, and even if they should once jump each other, I think it should be sometime in the last season.
but I would not mind if it kinda were a bit like a Romeo/Juliet story, at the time of possible first kiss, in them trying to keep it from sarah and Derek, could be that Charlie finds out, due to the talk scene, that is mentioned as a extras on the DVD, between him and John, could be that there came some pretty awkward moments out of it, because sometimes they are just about to get caught,

Because of Battlestar Galactica.

Ironic that after this you talk of respect. You have an inflated opinion of your own maturity.

Before I answer that question. I'd like to ask, why the question?

Can you explain and justify why you've chosen to ask that question?

Why, of all the questions you could ever ask me, do you ask that one?

I can't understand how a conversation about colloquialiisms suddenly leads to a question about someone's age.

I couldn't be more respectful. I think people who want Cameron and John to be lovers have the right to live and think whatever they want. I just think it's a shame and it's cheesy. You shouldn't feel offended if I call you a 12 years-old girl, if that is what you are (Provided we agree on the definition of "Being a 12 y-o girl" as "Supporting the John/Cameron romance").
