Kevin Reilly's Riley
Sep 24 2008, 1:24 AM EDT
I read a post that intimated that the Riley character was forced into the series because Kevin Reilly "strongly suggested" that John Connor have a girlfriend introduced early in the season. I googled for proof and found it at the following link: http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/blogging-the-tca/2008/07/sarah_connor_shifts_away_from.php Now everything makes sense. I am sad that Kevin Reilly decided to exert his power to the detriment of the show. Most fans reject her character and see her as extraneous. I would ask Josh Friedman to demand that the writers either find a way to make that character work, or push back on Kevin Reilly and ditch the character once and for all. This half-baked Riley character diminishes this very promising series. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

At least Fox is taking an interest in the show.

Is it or is Fox trying to make it fail (look at the time slot they put it in!)? Fox and WB have no love loss between the two studios. And Fox is trying to put the legal kibosh on Watchmen, a WB movie that's been highly anticipated.

It seems to me the writers are purposely making Riley's character unlikeable to secretly show their annoyance at the Fox exec forcing in an unwanted character. Either way I am amazed how execs even have the right to make the writers add in characters on a whim. Fox, if you want to slowly bleed TSCC to death, you're doing an excellent job.

"Yeah I've previously posted about Fox vs Warner re Watchmen, it makes me mad to think that this show may mean nothing more to Fox than a pawn in their power games. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. "I read a post that intimated that the Riley character was forced into the series because Kevin Reilly "strongly suggested" that John Connor have a girlfriend introduced early in the season.Josh Friedman had always thought of the character but was going to put her in during episode 5 or 6 or 7 or something and Reilly thought it should be 2 and so they compromised on 2. So don't be thinking Riley doesn't have a purpose or that she's in there just cos Fox exec said so, she was always going to be in the show. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

It was a compromise. He was originally insisting on Jar Jar Binks. Me no think so....Did they name the character Riley and make her annoying on purpose? I actually don't mind her. It's a little interesting to have someone who's out of the loop. Ellison and Charlie can't play that role anymore. Do you find this valuable? |

"Did they name the character Riley and make her annoying on purpose?"The character's name was originally Becky until the "compromise" when they changed the name to Riley. And I personally don't think Riley is annoying so I don't think they're doing it on purpose. Some like her, some hate her. I think a lot of the John/Cam shippers don't like her simply because she's with John instead of Cameron. And I've noticed a lot of non-John/Cam shippers don't have a problem with Riley because we don't care if John is hanging out with Riley more so than Cameron. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I personally think Riley is believable as a character. Irritating, yes, but I know tons of people who are like that in a way. It's also interesting to see Cammy interacting with another woman who does not know who or what she is. It allows Cammy to learn about being a woman and not learn to be like Mission-Crazy-Sarah all the time!!!

But Cameron is already mission-crazy so there isn't much to learn from Sarah anyhow. The show has touched on it before and I think they'll continue to do so, but Sarah and Cameron are not as different as they think they are. And not just because of their mission in protecting John.

She has awesome boobs so big win on this decision to add her. Summer's hot in a totally different way so nice to have a contrast. Now we've got the perfect show of action and sex appeal.

"Now we've got the perfect show of action and sex appeal."No crap. Got a hot looking 40 something year old woman, a hot 30 something year old woman, two hot 30 something year old men, a hot 20 something year old woman playing a late teenager, a hot 20 year old man and a hot late teen. I mean seriously if these actors weren't so damn good at their job, I'd think I was watching 90210 on crack (no offense Brian) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

If you were to look at the actors at a convention or something, you probably thought this was another "Starship Troopers" movie with all the pretty kids getting decapitated and all.

I like Riley character. I mean it is quite likely that in reality John would meet some girl that 's interested in him. Beside Riley is hot! I gus John has problem with determine either he wants to make up with Rile or not - if he does, she may die. Besides when/if she find out about the whole thing (end of the world in 4 years and stuff like that;) she may not be pleased. Meaby even panic? That may be interesting ^^

This is obviously a talented group of people who have a great story to tell. It seems that the role of the executive is not to direct storylines, but to get the right people in place and let the professionals do what they do best. As far as I'm concerned, the sudden introduction of Riley's character has been the WTF moment of the season thus far. John brings a stranger into their midst who freaking spends the night, using essentially the same technique Cameron used to make friends with him. Shouldn't he be wary of strange girls who approach him at this point? I mean, WTF? Do you find this valuable? |

Why "stupid"? You have no idea what would be the conclusion of her presence in TSCC. I think its not fair to say that.

not to worry people, I am quite sure Riley will go soon.she has not played any significant part in the show. she might just pass on like Charlie's wife. and i am pretty sure Riley is just a part for John to realise she is not for him. PS: i agree totally to everyone else. Riley has to go. but not suddenly, maybe a meaningful death saving John. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
