"I read a post that intimated that the Riley character was forced into the series because Kevin Reilly "strongly suggested" that John Connor have a girlfriend introduced early in the season.

Now everything makes sense. I am sad that Kevin Reilly decided to exert his power to the detriment of the show. Most fans reject her character and see her as extraneous. I would ask Josh Friedman to demand that the writers either find a way to make that character work, or push back on Kevin Reilly and ditch the character once and for all. This half-baked Riley character diminishes this very promising series. "

"Josh Friedman had always thought of the character but was going to put her in during episode 5 or 6 or 7 or something and Reilly thought it should be 2 and so they compromised on 2. The character was always going to be introduced, it's just that Reilly pushed for it being sooner. So don't be thinking Riley doesn't have a purpose or that she's in there just cos Fox exec said so, she was always going to be in the show."
