Overnights Not Looking Good for TSCC

Fox has also taken a noticeable hit on Monday with is combination of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (#4: 3.4/ 5), and Prison Break (#4: 3.8/ 5), which is likely to end this season. The two dramas, on average, were down by 19 percent in the overnights from year-ago occupants Prison Break and K-Ville.

Most shows with these numbers would have been pulled and canceled without hesitation regardless of the network.

Was Fox given an "incentive" to give TSCC those back 9 episodes?

I'm not following preliminary numbers closely, but I don't think 3.4 is a new low for us. Where did you get 3.8 for Prison Break though, Berman has it at 3.5. Doesn't matter really, those are preliminary numbers, the overnights are what I'm interested in.

And of course there was an "incentive": WB put a hefty discount on the price, because it can see the investment as part of the marketing campaign for T4. I'm certain there will be a lot of T4 commercials during the back nine.

Too think that T:SCC numbers are going to grow over night is unrealistic. They're going to hover around the same mark until they get moved into a new time slot come '09. Nothing has changed. Do you find this valuable?

I was afraid this would happen. I posted a thread last week about the impact of the election.
The entire country is fixated on what could be a major political shift in national gov.
We're facing single party rule for the first time since Watergate.

Somehow tv shows pale in importance.I noticed the posting last night (here and other sites) was way down.
That's often a direct reflection on how much people viewed.

Yeah, those are Berman's and have Prison Break at 3.5. And those are just preliminary metered markets numbers, not very accurate. The fast affiliate overnights is where it's at, they have viewer numbers and demo ratings. My guess though, they'll be similar to two weeks ago.

Whatever the reason the bottom line is that those are shitty numbers. And yes, it does have to do with the timeslot so I'm hoping FOX moves it to a better day for the back nine. But damn, how can we do worse than Prison Break? I guess TSCC only appeals to a fringe demo... Do you find this valuable?

Idont know about the fringe demo, ive met people that dont like sci-fi but like TSCC.
I think it may be a lack of promotion, i never see any ads, commercials, etc for TSCC. Anywhere!!

They spend a bunch on promotion last season and the ratings generally trended downward from Ep 2 through to Ep 9. That tells me that the average numbers for S2 (approx 5.5m viewers?) are the numbers the show is stuck at. Drawing in a significantly greater number of viewers in the middle of the story line is unlikely. I think that's why there's less advertising for the show this season. The execs know that it will be more difficult to get newer viewers interested in the show. Maybe they're thinking of the law of diminishing returns.

Moving the show to another night with a stronger lead in like Bones or American Idol will help and I hope they do that. But I really think that to have any chance for S3, we'd have to get to a conisistent 7m viewers per episode and based on the numbers so far I don't see that happening. Of course, if T4 does gangbusters box office who knows? Maybe WB would convince($$$) FOX to renew in order to get some cross-selling advertising or something.

Anyways, I love the show and I hope they can tell all four seasons worth of stories they've got planned. We'll see what happens...

Fast affiliate overnights are in... as I expected: 5.16 million viewers, 2.0 rating in the demo. Prison Break only a little bit better: 5.24million viewers, 2.1rating in the demo. Do you find this valuable?
