"I have to agree that the music in the Cromartie ambush scene didn't feel appropriate. It didn't set the right mood, and it kinda drew me out of the scene. It certainly didn't enhance it."
i was not a fan of the music either. it didn't quite fit. when sarah broke down, i teared too. lena really did a good job. it reminded me of the tape of her in the psych ward...last time that i can recall her getting upset like that.

"I think that song has something to do with "The day of the dead" theme for the town, and the episode. Just like in the premiere, Josh likes to have the lyrics tie into the action. "
The lyrics of the song:

Salías del templo un día, Llorona,
Cuando al pasar yo te vi;
(You were exiting the temple,
Llorona, when I sighted you)
Hermoso huipil llevabas, Llorona,
Que la Virgen te creí.
(A beautiful blouse you had one, Llorona,
I felt the Virgin’s presence in you)
Ay de mi, Llorona, Llorona,
Llorona llévame al mar.
(Oh, my Llorona, Llorona,
Llorona, take me to the sea)
A ver a los pescadores, Llorona,
Que perlas van a scar
(To see the fisherman, Llorona,
What pearls they will take out)

I was hoping the lyrics had something to do with the fight scene, but not really.

that was awesome. Remember the deleted scene in T2 director's edition? this time no one was going to put their hand over that chip. And Sarah Connor finally got to smash a chip for good. could be kinda cheesy smashing a lil chip, but fits so well with the story knowing all the evil in that small thing.

Here sobbing was real effective. My reaction changed from cheezy to holding back tears in a second. I didn't expect it either. Great acting and writing knowing how the audience can be real invested in this show and the characters.

That scene was really powerful. Sarah's breakdown and then John holding her... It was so intense... I don't think I can find the words to fully describe it. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm glad it wasnt just me...I thought that one of the most powerful moments of the series...and strange that a destroy-a-chip scene could have such an effect. Do you find this valuable?

I think this scene was intentionally played up, because (I think) later events will relate to it.

"Love the entire cast, they really have great chemistry together.

I thought the scene with Sarah smashing the chip tonight was fabulous; I was waiting for some really raw emotion from her, and tonight we got it. I wish they had actually gotten more of her face while John was hugging her, because it would have been a fantastic moment to see. "
If I was Thomas I would have asked to re-shoot that scene at least 12 times. While I am a dedicated Summer fan, I am totally in love with Lena and am gratified that she had this much face time in an episode.

I thought that aftering smashing the chip a few times, that Sarah let off a few bursts of 9mm on it. Personally, I think it would've made the scene more powerful, but what do I know. Doing so probably would've been dangerous (ricochet), but would've highlighted the fact that there was some raw unfiltered emotion coming out. Do you find this valuable?

I think smashing the chip with the butt of a submachine gun until it broke was sufficient in demonstrating the raw unfiltered emotion, and made the scene much more powerful than it would have been to have her simply shooting at it.

I totally agree. Awesome moment.

I sort of liked that they really didn't show her face and all you saw was John's reaction to holding his mother while she sobbed. I mean, Sarah Connor was actually sobbing. To hear that was very powerful.

No doubt it was a powerful scene.........Lena did a great job as she always does :)

Cameron pulled the chip out of her pocket, I assume she is the "chip keeper" ...so does that mean she knows how to dispose of them properly.......or does she keep them for other reasons? (please no "Cameron is going bad" theories...lol)

"chip keeper" Good one! LoL You're right though, usually she IS the one to destroy them. I was a little surprised she gave it up to Sarah so readily, but glad she did. Was something Sarah needed to DO.

Not only the fight scene, but while Sarah was smashing the chip. It's just the season 1 opening theme, and doesn't even fit! That starts off urgent, and then the introduction of the strings adds a somber mood to the tune. The music here should have been a build up that got more frenetic as Sarah went absolutely nuts, then quited down, perhaps with a bit of sorrowful undercurrent, when John embraced his mother.

I was reminded of the scene in T2 when John was comforting her in the Dyson's house after she shot them up.

She wants SO BAD to escape the nightmare.......and who can blame her. :(
