Well, i've noticed that there seems to be a good amount of gamers on this board so I thought it'd be a good idea to create an OT thread where we can share friend codes and XboxLive tags and what not!And of course to talk about games. I absolutely LOVE video games and yes, i'm one of those few gamer chicks out there. We are here! It IS possible for girls to like video games I swear! :D Well, I had a question for you guys. I recently got a job and I've been saving up money to buy either an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 (I already have a Wii btw)... I have enough money for a 360 and i'm pretty much leaning toward getting one right now, but i'm kinda having a dilemma! The only console i've had for the past 4 years has pretty much been a Playstation 2 which I totally LOVE to death! Sony has never let me down and i've spent many an hour playing happily on my obsolete PS2 even 2 years since the next generation of consoles arrived. So, I guess I have somewhat of an affinity towards Sony, but that's just bias on my part. What i'm worried about with the Xbox 360 is the INSANELY HIGH failure rate! (16% AHHH!) The pros of the 360 is of course all the great games out for the console and the great online support. Playstation 3 pros = Blu-Ray, much lower failure rate, and of course my slight affection/bias that comes from my love for the PS2. So... which one should I get? O_O UPDATE: I decided on an Xbox and we now have a T:SCC clan up and running on XBL! Join us today and check up on this thread to see what's going on. Add o Summer Glau o (Serenity_17 on this forum) as your friend and start playing with your fellow T:SCC fans. We play quite a bit of Halo 3, some COD4 or we just talk and play whatever. (My gamer tag is triggerhappy039.) 12 out of 13 found this valuable. Do you?

from a fellow gamer girl, a PS3. but that might be biased towards the fact that I think the pS3 game selection is WAY better then the x-box's, and I also share a great love for my outdated ps2. lol

OMG, where have you been all my life, LOL I am a huge Gamer, my favs tend to be shooters, I'm pretty good too I once went 63 and 18 in COD4 Team Deathmatch on Groundwar, GET AN XBOX then get a Ps3 when you can afford it, I myself have a 360 but want a ps3 bad, just dont have the cash right now, I ve heard from friends that xbox live is way better than ps3's online gaming which is free xbox is not, anyway my gamertag is Commanderchang and no I am not asian, LOL

Well they are both centerpieces of a powerful Audio / video setupI have the 360 Netflix members will be able to stream 12,000 television and movies unlimited starting this month There are all the new complex games , then there all ports of classics Believe it or not I have spent the last year playing the original Pac Man, I am number 104 in the country. The ps3 has a built in blu ray drive which is great the 360 you can stream all mp3's through your computer to your stereo or tv or both. You can stream video as well, you just have to learn to do all these things. The 360 has a monthly fee, its worth it Do you find this valuable? |

You can buy a yearly GOLD xbox live account for about 50 bucks, thats what i pay every year and its well worth it,

There are a few good games floating around at the moment for it. Kinda depends what you like. Of course it's only really worth buying these consoles if you have access to a 1080p TV, otherwise graphic wise things will look just the same as the PS2, and Blu Ray would be a complete waste of money since it will run at the same definition as a standard DVD. Games wise, you got a few scary ones out that got some high ratings, a few good shooters... not so much on the story based RPG's (though so I hear Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFXIII will be PS3 when they are released). Overall PS3 is your best bet IMHO, simply because there is more to it, and they are very reliable. Plus pretty much all the decent games these days get released on PS3, PC and 360 so you won't miss out. Only good game I know of thats 360 only is Fable 2, apart from that you will find everything else on the PS3. Hope that helps :) Do you find this valuable? |

If you have an HDTV and do not yet own a Blu-Ray player, the obvious choice is a PS3. Most games are available on both X360 and PS3, so the option of being able to play 1080p movies is well worth the extra price.

Hmm, the problem is, I'm pretty sure i'm only going to get one of the consoles.To me, getting both is kinda redundant and a waste of money. Simply put, the consoles share MANY of the same games and buying both is a huge investment. Plus, i'm a poor teenager who has parents who are extremely anti-anything video game related... *sigh* Otherwise I WOULD go for both. And YAY LB for girl gamers! And I still totally hear my old PS2 to little bits. ^^ Do you find this valuable? |

The newer xbox 360's have the falcon chipset (smaller processor bigger heatsink) which is not as prone to failure as the first gen 360's get a 360 elite or make sure the it has built in hdmi, which is a newer board than the launch 360 and has the falcon chipset, I have a limited Halo 3 edition 360 the one that looks like master chief (green and gold) theyre hard to find though

I played WoW for about 6 months a couple years ago with some friends.Other than that I don't really play games. I finally bought a Xbox now that they are cheaper, and I took advantage of some weird promotion Microsoft was doing, they are paying me 60 bucks for searching on their new webpage. (It's ongoing.. check it out. Go to live, search for something, and on Ebay Buy it now, they give you a % cash back) ...I play the typical Halo3/Madden and I also have Fight Night 3 and Soul Calibur 4. Don't plan on buying any other games. Do you find this valuable? |

Well trigger, you have have started a war. there has been for xbox or playstation war since they came out. I say go for the 360. I've got that and i love it. It's worth the 50 bucks a year for online, which is better than the free PS3 online. I the 360 failure rate is no that big a problem now. The newest models have mostly fixed those problems. Just don't leave it on all day like my friend did. LB: the PS3 game selection is no where near better than the 360s. Xbox has Halo, Gears of war and a few other xbox only ones. They share many great games: COD4, Far Cry 2, Star Wars: TFU ect. Go for the Xbox trigger_happy. if you do, I'll forever be your friend (am already). Console games are graphically awesome, but often limited in scope. I'm a gamer if you are talking PC games, like MMORPGs. I hate linear games because you can't do something outside of the box and I'd much rather have a thinking opponent than one that does the same thing every time. I've been an on again, off again gamer since 2003, in SWG, COX, WOW, and Warhammer Online. I'm actually with the online guild HAUNT ( http://www.ghost-pa.com/ ). Are any of you guys or girls in PVP guilds? Do you find this valuable? |

Apoc of Egypt here,I would suggest a X360 mainly because the online multiplayer is better. You get what you pay for. Sony offers free online, but they don't maintain it as well as Microsoft does. They both offer HD movies capabilities and very few games are system exclusives anymore. They may say they are going to be, but normally the dollar bills roll in their eyes and they make it for all systems. Send me an invite if you get lonely on Xbox. And yeah you can even buy tv shows, movies, and old games (including original Xbox games) on Marketplace. btw Riley needs to go! Do you find this valuable? |
