"I agree with HK, A big part of his attitude towards Cameron was of the fact that she called out his feelings, but also because she said he couldnt be trusted, remember in AMFTP when he said "I dont have to answer to anyone" "not even you".. I still think he is kinda hurt by all that, but for the love of god, get over it already."I believe he said "I don't have to prove myself to anyone - including you" to our dear Cam. Now, he's out to prove that he doesn't have to prove himself by being a wreckless fool. What Cammie has to do is stroke his ego. Make him feel good about himself. Give him encouragement. His ego is obviously shot to hell which is why he hangs with Riley. In her own goofy way, Riley strokes John's ego. It doesn't matter to me if Cam is being manipulative. All chicks do that. But they usually do because they feel they're doing what's right - which is their way. But Hanging her foot out the window, switching the radio to her own tunes, being a brat with Derek (neither of them know Fischer), sweet little smiles to John. That's Cam just being Cam. Out of this whole scenario skynet, terminators, and judgement day, Cam is a fringe benefit and John should be taking advantage. Maybe he's worried that he doesn't know how to make her come. That's one of the main reasons he should studying Cam in depth. Like I said before, JC from T2 would be all over that Cammie. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"That being said, we have to accept the fact that we are watching a SciFi program, and that means that sometimes, improbable, unlikely, and even impossible things are going to happen. It would be a pretty boring SciFi show if everything that happend was completely logical and totally believable ."Actually "we" don't have to accept that, and many Sci Fi fans of the "old school" like me definitely do not. In my opinion, the best science fiction stories are predicated on a limited set of (ideally) coherent assumptions that determine how the plot develops. Part of the challenge of good Sci Fi is staying within the initial boundaries. Stories that continually introduce new gimmicks in order to jazz up the plot or to solve narrative problems aren't nearly as interesting. At the other extreme are stories whose assumptions aren't critical to plot development at all; they're just window dressing. Prime example: Star Wars. Take the heroes, villains, battles to any other time and place, change the props and costumes, and they work fine. Alternative: The 13th Floor. Absent the technology and hierarchy of worlds and the whole thing falls apart. In my book that's real SF. I wonder, does anyone else subscribe to this, or is it just an antique way of thinking? 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

yeah I agree, John and Cameron need to have actual physical contact before we start going in depth on robot and human sex.

"True indeed, I dont know why John isnt getting deeper into that head of hers, I mean look at the possibilites we have here."I've been wondering the same thing. In T2, John was inseparable from Arnie. It was just question after question and they didn't scratch the surface. He seemed to find fulfillment in the interaction. But as it is now, he seems to have limited interaction with Cameron and actively tries to avoid her. To an extent, I can understand this is a form of rebellion. Let's face it, he carries a massive burden and the future outlook is pretty grim. At the same time, she throws off human signals from time to time. She's made it clear that she's "different." She may be a machine but she is quite attractive, and she is a sentient being which does make her alive in her own way. With that said, he's alarmingly incurious about her. I get the whole thing about her representing the future and his role in it. But I also know that 16 year old boys tend to only think about one thing, and it ain't the role they have in the future. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"She can physically feel as we feel: all it is is nerve endings (on our skin for example) sending messages to our brains which we then interpret (pain, pleasure, heat, cold, etc.) What Cameron doesn't possess is the reflex reactions we do. For instance, when we touch something hot, we recoil because we register pain. She doesn't suffer the pain, but she interprets it as "not good" because of the damage it can incur and that's why she would be inclined to recoil. Think back to when we're kids and physical pain is sufficient to elicit tears; we'd fall, skin a knee and cry because of the pain. As we get older, pain no longer makes us cry (or at least it takes a higher degree to do so.) Cameron has the ability to cry, but only as a mechanism she'd employ to pass for human, not as a reflex to physical or emotional stimuli like us.I think your objectivity fits very well with the writers' approach. IMO your last two sentences would make a great maxim for fans. Well put! The only problem I have is with your reference to Cameron's "evolving." What does that mean? How would that work? (that is, what subserves the changes?) And why? Bio-organisms evolve via specific mechanisms that are integral to their structure and origin. Absent intentional design, why would a machine "evolve"? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Perhaps, if she said she could feel pleasure too, then he'd be more open to her. What kills me about that scene is JC says, "I know you don't have emotions yet..." What are the writers doing? Are they writing off Allison from Palmdale like that episode never existed? How did Cromartie get that picture of Cam then? How did he figure out that her chip was damaged? Wasn't John stunned when he saw Cam laughing, playing, and enjoying herself at the halfway house? JC's lack of inquistitiveness is unfathomable. Anyone would be asking Cam about that no matter what the circumstance. Is he that hurt because she said he can't be trusted that his brains no longer work? Maybe he needs a chip in the head. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Perhaps, if she said she could feel pleasure too, then he'd be more open to her.The pic of Cameron was taken by the grocery store security camera when she had her error during the Alison episode. It wouldn't be hard for Cromartie to get it. He was able to figure that she's damaged judging by the blank expression on her face in the photo and the pile of produce scattered about. In addition she didn't kill the kid when she should have in the bowling alley. Do you find this valuable? |

Ajhil: you obviously know what you are talking about. Science Fiction in the classic sense does remain within the boundaries of science. what we see today is often blended with Science Fantasy which uses purely hypothetical and fanciful concepts. I do expect a certain amount a realism in my SF and TSCC is no exception. Before I go on let me state some of my basic thoughts.1: Cameron is a machine. Cameron is a Terminator she has an artificial edo-skeleton covered in flesh (possibility of some inner organs) for a body. Her brain is a computer chip. these facts will never change. 2: It is conceivable for science to develop a processor that functions like the human brain. it is also conceivable that if this processor were to be powerful enough it could host a self aware consciousness of equal if not greater intelligence than our own. These two basic concepts, I believe, are within the boundaries of Science Fiction. We go beyond those boundaries when we begin to start ask questions like: 1: Can this sentient machine feel emotions? 2: is this machine a "person" (note: did not use term "Human") 3: If it can feel how does it experience those emotions? 4: does it have a soul? When we start asking these questions we are venturing into the realm of Science Fantasy, or even psychology and religion. These things are acceptable to me as long as it is done well. I do think that it is a possibility for Cameron to become her own person capable of feeling emotions and even able to love.in her own way. I hope that she will become he own unique person and be capable of true emotion. I hope she will form a close relationship with John. I will be glad to clarify my position to any one. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

I agree with everything you've said, except I'm not so sold on the fantasy assumption that Cameron will (essentially magically) develop human type emotions. In fact, as we were discussing on my recently hi-jacked thread, I find it more interesting, even in some ways more dramatic, to speculate if and how John might have a relationship with a non-emotional robot that's fantastically adept at emulating emotional responses. To each his own, I guess. Thanks for your thoughts. Do you find this valuable? |

I didn't reply in your hijacked thread as the focused was lost when people started to sway towards comparing binary gates to neuron functions. Here's my take on machines with emotions: The technology Machines are not wired to have emotions in anyway. Hardware is (currently) not designed that way. Hardware provides the raw processing power to facilitate processes which are controlled by software. Unless a software which has emotions written into its code, the software will definitely not be able to identify with emotions. (I have another theory on how software can be made to function like a human brain, since the hardware seems to have reach a point of being able to handle the raw processing power required for the software bit to do so, but I'll save that for later) Next, let's touch on the subject of Cammy Cammy cannot and will not develop emotions overnight. It would definitely kill off the entire intellectual stimulus found with the show. Cammy is developed to learn how human behave and MIMIC them. She may not feel the actual emotions involved, but she understands that when a human experiences a certain stimuli, the human will react in a certain way emotionally. And with that emotion, the human will then proceed to take a certain course of action. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Continued. Ran out of space...After countless hours of interacting with human, Cammy would have developed a database to store the appropriate emotions to stimuli received, followed by the responses and so on. This does not mean Cammy has developed emotions. It merely means she has developed an understanding of emotions, what causes it and what it leads to. And ajhil, you would be accurate in stating she can even mimic orgasm in response to the movement rate of the male in that situation, simply because it is the appropriate response at that time. It does not mean Cammy experiences the feeling which lead her to that response. This brings me to a question which I find interesting: Are we humans not programmed in the same way by our parents or peers? We simply store the knowledge to respond to situations in the form of an emotion. Machines will store such information in a database in a hard drive. Both methods of storing "data" produces the same response. Difference is for a machine, they never truly feel, but they understand. Your 2 cents? 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

All of this shit is why people hate nerds. People are citing all of this logic and fact to claim that Cameron cannot experience or feel this or that. Leave it to the nerds to be party poopers. I've got news for you. Cameron can think or feel what she wants when she wants if that is where the writers wish to go with the story. It's fucking fiction people. They can do what they want to do. Leave it to the nerds to be party poopers. The nerds on this wiki have to remember that Cammie was made more than 20 years in the future. Technology always moves forward by leaps and bounds. Just a few weeks ago I saw some amazing stuff with neural interfacing to computers and servo controllers in a hospital for the handicapped. I recall years ago seeing a video in Russia where they showed actual cyborgs picking up 500 lb tree trunks. The consumer toys at frys electronics even barely scratch the surface of the amazing computer technology in industry and the military - especially in the realm of quantum computers. Truth is stranger than fiction. As far as we know, we may have cyborgs around us everyday without knowing, but we treat them like regular people because we figure they have feelings. Same is true of Cam. As far as we know, those glimmers of humanity is who she really is. Same is true of John. Those glimmers of strength and intelligence maybe who he really is. The problem is life is short and TV shows are even shorter. WE don't need any formulaic 90210 dumbass teenager to keep us interested. We need a prodigy who comes up with some amazing shit to make us proud of JC. Do you find this valuable? |

They will drag out reams of pointless formulae by which it can be proven that Cameron cannot feel. News for you all - nothing is absolute People once were absolutely certain that a giant waterfall waited over the horizon, because the world was flat. "Continued. Ran out of space...I, in person, agree with you on that. The cyborgs are just programmed and designed for mimicking the human emotions and feelings, but they are uncapable of feeling the true human emotions. Behold that ''Cyborgs are designed to blend in the human society, just to BLEND IN the human society. Not to BE a part of the human society. Inside the machines, there are only computing, calculating, digits or whatever words you prefer. The point is, a cyborg is ever a CYBORG, whatever how skillful they can mimic people. Therefor I keep myself, more accurately, force myself to remind that our dear Cammy (what a lovely name) is a machine, not to be fooled by her. What is point watching TSCC if the terminator is no ever a Terminator??? Please feel free to retort. :) Do you find this valuable? |
