The Women On This Show Are Driving Me CRAZY

So....

1. Riley is completely playing John, even though she *actually* likes him and feels terrible about it.
2. Jesse is completely playing everyone. Derek just spilled his entire story to her, and she STILL refuses to tell him the whole truth.
3. Sarah is getting bat shit crazy and (apparently) starting to lose focus. She's concentrating on details instead of the big picture.
4. Cameron freaks out sometimes this season, then is totally normal sometimes, then freaks out again. She never tells the whole truth either...

Why does everyone have to lie to each other and be so confrontational all the time? Are they forgetting they're all in this together, for the same objective --- to stop Skynet once and for all?

Almost every episode this season has been a "doom and gloom" episode, and it's largely because none of our heroes are willing to work together. Haven't they learned anything yet?

You forget the men..
1. Ellison is playing both sides of the skynet/human war.
2. Derek is lying to the Connors.

John seems honest enough, though.

Im a fan of duplicity.

Cameron said it best, girls are complicated, best just to leave it at that. Seriously, I don't know why the women are all, um...the way they are. From a male point of view they are being very short sighted and inefficient. It seems like everything would go a lot smoother for the Connor Crew if they would just loose all the secrecy and acting. But on the other hand John has not been the most honest person so far this season either. The character dynamics of TSCC remind me of those on Battlestar Galactica, and I hope that at some point the characters will reach a breaking point where they set all their personal issues and mind games aside and do what needs to be done together. Of course things always go back to the way they were, but at least for a while everyone is doing the right thing.

I agree with you on the doom and gloom quality of the episodes. I love this show, but every time I watch a new episode it gets me really down. It is a great show and I love it, but it always makes me feel depressed after watching all the bad stuff that hits these characters. The show could afford to lighten the mood every once in a while.

Ok I listed where all the rest of the male cast was also dishonest, but I couldnt think of one for John. When was he dishonest? He seemed like the odd man out to me!

it's doom and gloom BECAUSE nobody's being honest. at least in season one, Derek Sarah and John were working together with Cam to beat skynet. Now you know people aren't telling the whole truth and it sucks. Not even the cute little Cam moments every epp make up for it anymore.

and yes...we girls are...quite complicated...but not THIS complicated! geebus!

Well, you have to add some tension otherwise it would always be straight forward and not much fun.......so there has to be twists and turns.

That way you're always guessing as to whats going to happen next.

why didn't he tell his family when Cromartie visited the house?

Why did he feign aquiescing to Cam, then skip off to Mexico with Riley?

Why does he keep lying to himself that he could possibly have a normal life?

Shall I continue?

Well...has Weaver actually told a lie yet? She seems straightforward, if anyone could figure out the right question to ask. "Hey, what are you doing, anyway?" "Oh, I'm building a computer that will kill every living thing on the planet. Have a nice day." 6  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

Man, everybody's messed up in the mind! If you ask me, the sanest guy around was Cromarite before they gave him the axe.

Main reason I like her. Of all of them, if you want to know something you only need ask. Jesse could have crossed over into that club, but then she didn't tell Dereck about Riley when he trusted her with his greatest secret.

I guess my point is that it seems like nobody is really a good guy. Yeah we need tension, conflict, suspense, etc. etc. to keep the story interesting...

But we need something happy or uplifting to grab onto at some point. The whole point of tension is that it is building up to a release: tension & release, tension & release. That's true for anything --- movies, books, TV, music, whatever.

But all we're getting is tension, tension, tension. I think the strong women in the show are best suited to bring us an uplifting change, but for some reason, they're all kidding themselves and refusing to do it.

I remember Josh said the reason all the FBI agents died last season was because Charlie and Ellison refused to be honest with each other --- two alpha males with big egos.

So why are the women doing the same thing now?

wow some good posts
"Almost every episode this season has been a "doom and gloom" episode"
yes they need to lighten things up on this show a little, this is one reason we have lost neilsen viewers, they like happy stuff , and this show doesnt have enough " funny or happy " moments
also the team isnt much of a team, if u compare to say ncis which does 12 to 15 million viewers, the team jokes arund with each other, loves each other and has a good time beating the bad guys, and then they also have the serious drama.
but they have enough upbeat stuff to " balance "the gloomy stuff.
Well...has Weaver actually told a lie yet?.... yes she lied about the memory of the butcher paper. that was all I could think of .

Healingmind beat me to it, but I was thinking of when John lied to Sarah and Cameron about seeing Riley.

I had never thought that Catherine Weaver was the only honest character on the show. It makes her that much more intimidating that she does not feel the need to hide anything. She is the exact opposite of Cromartie who nearly always lied his way into everything. It is interesting that machines would go to complete opposite ends of the truth/lies spectrum in order to accomplish their mission.

I've voiced similar complaints about this in the past. That there's not enough lightheartedness in the show. It's always been my contention that lighthearted moments are what make us human. And if they lose sight of their humanity, how can they fight for it?

I think what we're also seeing is that the terminators are neither good or bad. They're largely neutral characters who are fulfilling jobs. Unfortunately that usually means trying to kill John, but even then, they usually aren't acting out of malice.

As for the dishonesty, Cameron does lie, but so far, all we've really seen are lies of omission on her part. A failure to tell the whole truth. Derek, Jesse, Riley, Ellison, and John all tell outright lies. John's lies usually stem from his desire to escape his destiny and I can't really blame him for that. Ellison is lying because he thinks he's doing what is right. Derek is a survivor and does whatever he needs to do in order to survive. Thus far, Jessie and Riley are lying for their own selfish gains. What's interesting is that Sarah is much like Cameron in that she mostly sticks to lies of omission.

Didn't Weaver lie to Elison about the "plane crash" that supposedly killed her husband (the reality appearing to be that she, the T1001, killed both Weavers and took Catherine's place).

Granted, if I remember that exchange correctly she pointed out that Elison lied in the official report about Cromartie killing the FBI agents, so I suppose she's still distinct in being the only character on the show thus far to have only lied to someone who was also lying...

That's what Sarah is trying to do, trying to stop Skynet. That was the reason why she is trying to track down the turk and she considered the three dots a message from the future to solve the enigma.
