" Before this show I was some what a geek i mean I enjoyed tv shows (Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, Firefly). but i never went to fourms and posted or laughed at inside jokes from the show in everyday life. so........ the question is has T:SCC turned you into the geek you thought you never would be. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)"A geek? I always prefer the original meaning of a word or descriptive term. “Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs, with a strong predilection for demanding that the writers of plays be replaced.” That latter part dates back to the plays of William Shakespeare where the “geeks” demanded that even he needed to be replaced as they sat there chewing their chicken heads. These days a geek is simply a slang term, noting individuals as "a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, gaming, etc.” Going with the second definition, I would say that there are more then a few of US here. I was fascinated with sci-fi even before Star Trek and was so glad when the origianl series was on. But I don't consdider that geeky. To me geeky is more about computers and elecronics technology. I'm so nongeeky "my tom cat is black and white".But this is absolutely the first TV forum I have ever joined. If not for TSCC I probably never would have. The members, show and moderators make it fun. Do you find this valuable? |

Yes it did. I had never attended a convention to meet meet actors and buy all the geek merchandise until I saw Summer Glau on Terminator. Summer and this show did me in. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
