The trailer alleges that Connor will bring the war an end. I don't think sooo. James Cameron hasn't produced as many episodes as James Bond movies. Give him credit for not doing it because the track of the Terminator series is in SciFi. His plot lines have traversed across time.
The technology has evolved and pushes the viewers and the hardcore fans in ways that can turn them off or turn them on. Ultimately the TV series has been a filler and its characters have to survive in the interim period between T2 and T3. I don't think that the T4 movie can or will address all of the other future plot lines the TV show has revealed. Bale is Dark Knight that the mopey haired TV John will become.

John Commer It might not bulk up before the TV show is terminated, but remember just how many different TV shows were spawned by Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and of course Star Trek,
