A teleplay for an episode
Mar 11 2009, 7:00 PM EDT
"Assistant Needed:" Cameron's glitch comes back and she teams up with a newly arrived Terminator to kill John Connor. The attachment on this page should lead you to the script. It's in PDF file, so you'll need Adobe. This is my first (and maybe my last) attempt at this, so let me know if there are any problems. This is not prose, it's a teleplay, written as if it were a script for an actual episode. Read below if you need a quick guideline on screenplay format if you're unfamiliar. The backstory is kinda loose, but it takes place some time during the back 9 episodes of Season 2, or the beginning of Season 3 (assuming that there will be a season 3). Keep in mind, I haven't watched the last episode yet. I've been avoiding it, knowing that if I watch it I'd probably end up rewriting the whole script, and then the next episode would make me do the same. I'd never get this done. Don't be surprised if characters drive different cars than you're used to. It's also implied (albeit brieftly) in this episode that Riley and John did not work out. SCREENPLAY FORMAT. This is a SPEC SCRIPT, not a SHOOTING SCRIPT. So you won't find camera directions, although I do use POV to describe what the Terminators see. EXT. means Exterior. INT. means Interior. I use the word "Insert" to suggest a closeup on a cell phone screen or a sign. I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEEE COMMENT! Even if you think this is the worst piece of trash you've ever read. You never know, I might actually agree with you. Now I can finally watch the next episode. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I've been trying to write one of these myself but not for T:SCC and i'm finding it a real struggle to know exactly what detail your meant to put in and what your meant to leave out. I'll definitely give it a good read through and post up some feedback. The thing that immediately stood out to me when i read the first few pages is that Cameron's dialogue is a bit out of character, it uses some 'human' phrases and mannerisms that she probably wouldn't. The heavy Jameron aside, I think you could make her speech less long winded, more direct and to the point. But i'll give some better feedback after i've read it all and congratulations on managing to complete it! I hope I get this far someday. Do you find this valuable? |

I read it and it would make a spectacular episode but I have a few nitpicks. If Cameron and Smith wanted Derek dead he would be dead. They are terminators, they would've killed Derek. Cameron must've known about bulletproof vests and one of them would go for a headshot at least. Since Derek and Sarah are high on the priority list I'm sure any machine would make sure Derek was dead.Cameron blowing a kiss before taking a shot...very unlikely. Also, I don't like the Jameron bit but that's my personal view on that subject. I mean I...I actually still don't know where I stand on that subject. If some miracle happens and we get season 3, they should give Cameron a boyfriend, not John. Just to test the waters. It would make for some interesting television. Morris, where are you! But an action packed episode like the one you wrote would be a good thing for the show instead of the slow episodes we had lately. The script was well written and carefully thought out. I'm not a writer but it looked professional enough. You're buckethead right? Your review was actually the best I've seen out of every review. I agree with you on every subject. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Especially if you're like me and used to creating your own characters and not having to be limited by what other writers have done. One of the hardest things is to learn that screenwriting format. But I have a program called Final Draft that makes it a lot easier. Do you find this valuable? |

It's not very logical. Not going to mention what I don't agree with, because I was always taught not to defend or explain what I've written. Seems you've read the whole thing, or at least pretty far into it. So at least the script wasn't a total failure, I guess. I was afraid no one would read past the teaser. The amount of action in this script could not be done on the show. They don't have the budget. Yes, I am buckethead. Thank you very much. You can expect more Terminator videos in the future, BTW. Down the bottom, near the discussion section. Not here, the actual Fan fiction page. There should be a section for attachments. It's small, but it's there.

Aww....that was a great story! Very satisfying read. =)Even if Cameron had a couple uncharacteristic moments, I loved the whole thing. Great work. You should drop by the Jameron thread sometime. =) Do you find this valuable? |

Thank you very much. That's refreshing to hear. I was beginning to think that this really sucked.I'll definitely stop by the Jameron thread. Maybe I can get people from that forum to read this as well. Do you find this valuable? |

Hrm... look like you gave Cam nearly full emotion development. You made this a safe work. as i see there is no way BadCam or TSmirt would let Derek alive. Cam blow a kiss before shotting... LOL. What's the point of doing it? Like "Hon, i love you but my mission is to terminate you." ? Or "One last good memory from me before you gone."? anyway. A warmheart fanfiction to read. nice work! Dude, this SO doesn't suck. You should have a bit more confidence. Some good writing there. I wanted to elborate on the Derek being shot thing. Remember in Samson and Delilah, Cameron walked into the room where John had just killed Sarkissian. She immediately scanned him and knew he was deceased. In T2 Arnold engaged the Swat team and reported no casualties. Somehow terminators can know FOR SURE if someone has died or not. Do you find this valuable? |

Definitely right on that one. That would be the major thing I would change if I were going to revise this.

"Hrm... look like you gave Cam nearly full emotion development.Glad you liked it. I shouldn't explain the kiss, but I'm going to anyway. She blew the kiss at him to distract him before she took the shot. To make him think "Why did she just do that?" instead of thinking about how to escape. I probably should've made that more clear in the writing. Maybe gone to her POV and said: "Action: Distract" or something. Do you find this valuable? |

This story is another version of the "Samson and Delilah" plot but this time Cameron's glitch seems to happen out of nowhere indicating that she has become too much a risk to be further around John. The action contains sufficient drama, tension and suspense. I think the dialoge when John is sorry about how he has treated Cameron does not fit with the show. He has not been mean to her because she is an easy target and she will take it all. He has been mean to her because he loves her and tries to deny and fight his love. He feels bad about it. Because of his love he again rescuses Cameron and saves her life. This is what we have always got from John Connor in the show: Finally he stands to his cyborg companion.Having Cameron crying two times is a bit too much to me. In the show we have seen her crying in "Samson and Delilah" when Cameron tries to manipulate John. Then we also see her with tears in "Allison from Palmdale" when she is in infiltration mode due to her chip malfunction. She shows real emotions which are not just mimicry and manipulation, for example when she is afraid of John ("Mr. Ferguson is Ill Today"). These are usually very reduced. I think that it would be ok to show her with tears because of real emotions but only in a very dramatic and special scene. She should not show crying like in Allison mode. I think the effect would be much better if there is just a single tear. Less is more in this case. The drama is good but the final solution feels too sudden and easy. But the final picture when Sarah awakes again and the first she sees are Cameron and John in each others arms is quite strong. Do you find this valuable? |

Knight,I haven't read your stuff (yet) so I wan't comment on that other than to say I'd support you as a friend and colleague by doing so...but...man, you gotta view the season/series finale! You just gotta! Not that it won';t spoil the entire two years of the previous eps,, but you can't rant - as I do (or join in my own or even enjoy them - if you haven't gone through the same pain and loss WE other fans have had to endure care of Mr. Jf. You're in THIS boat too, bub, and being in a state of denial doesn't change that. Hey I even have associates that have gone through the entire series from the pilot and now are almost up to the finale just so they can rant with me at my current level of need for closure - that will never happen (unless we fans provide it for ourselves IMO). Misery loves company. You are our icon for that misery - our miserable - uh, that didn't come out right! - Champion. So you can't not know how messed up the T canon got! ---...other than that it's all good! Do you find this valuable? |
