Great video about robots in war

Here is a great video by P.W. Singer at TED Talks discussing the use of robots in war and how they change warfare and what war means. It is about 16 min long and well worth the listen. Terminator is mentioned twice specifically, but it is very meaningful talk about the future of war. There are many photos and videos of real robots in this piece.

(many formats, suitable for viewers in any country)

“In this powerful talk, P.W. Singer shows how the widespread use of robots in war is changing the realities of combat. He shows us scenarios straight out of science fiction -- that now may not be so fictitious.”

“In P.W. Singer's most recent book, "Wired for War," he studies robotic and drone warfighters -- and explores how these new war machines are changing the very nature of human conflict… “

Here are some tasty morsels to whet your appetite:

'Last year in South Africa..an anti-aircraft cannon had a “software glitch” and actually did turn on and fire and nine soldiers were killed.'

'This is not even talking about armed autonomous systems with full authority to use force. And do not believe that that isn't coming. During my research I came across four Pentagon projects on different aspects of that.'

He also mentions a list with Hollywood's top 100 heroes and top 100 villains of all time. “Only one character made it onto both lists, The Terminator...”
