"I really like BAG and Derek. If you guys had to choose some other actor to play him in Salvation, knowing the age of Anton Yelchin as Kyle, who would you choose. "
I can't think of any young male actors. But if Kyle is in the next movie and he age progresses to the point in T1 then Brian could play the role of Derek. Since that character has not been established in the movies, this character could be transferred over without a problem IMO.

Yeah, I agree. He should have went down in a blaze of glory. They could have at least had him sacrifice his life to kill that terminator like grapple with the terminator as he pulls out a grenade that forces him to kill himself along with the terminator.

I felt like that too at the beginning, but they gave him a soldier's death. Mercifully it was also quick and sudden so we didn't have to endure on of the dying-in-someone's-arms-scenes.

Boromir and Aragorn pretty much showed the rest of the industry how dying-in-the-arms-of-my-commander-after-a-heroic-last-stand scenes are to be done in The Fellowship of the Ring and it would take a LOT to better that :-)

We love you BAG... you are a great Derek. Looking forward to seeing you in Season 3, or in something else really cool. Maybe the Green Lantern... You'd be an awesome Hal Jordan. Seriously Brian, thanks for all the hard work. Do you find this valuable?

I thought BAG did an excellent job playing Derek. Derek and Cameron carried the show, IMO.

Sorry if the mention of Cameron upsets anyone, but every thread has to mention either Cameron or Summer..........it's the law.....lol.

Like I said......I loved BAG's performance as Derek.........one thing bothers me though..........why was he always out of breath? This is not a dig at BAG, obviously the directors either told BAG to do that or he just did it and they agreed that it was ok. I was just wondering.

I liked him too, especially the part where he talks about torture and pain when they are interrogating Fisher. He went out very unconventionally for tvshows standards. I can understand people don't like it but I loved it and it was one of the best moments of the entire show. I do feel he was underused in season 2. I also liked Dillahunt's portrayal of both Cromartie and John Henry.

A little OT, but...

A while back I'd read an article where BAG talks about his desire to play The Green Lantern in an upcoming movie. If I remember correctly, it was in the context of Megan Fox preparing to play "Fathom" in a movie (Marc Silvestri's comic book adaptation), and her possible consideration to take up the Lara Croft mantle in the next movie. Let me say, this was all speculation and such but during the interview, he talked about wanting to play Hal Jordan (GL).

I heard recently that the role went to Ryan Reynolds. Did anyone else hear anything about this? Even if it was to the contrary? I'm a big fan of both actors, but since TSCC, I've been hoping this would be a sort of resurgence for BAG.

(Though I'm really gonna miss Derek Reese...)

Have a great weekend everyone.

One thing that I thought was great about BAG's Derek Reese, is that he really does look like he could be an older brother to Biehn's Kyle Reese. Also, he was a much needed source of testosterone on the show, since it certainly wasn't coming from John.
I loved how Derek was always unafraid of Sarah, despite how domineering she always tries to act, and never hesitated to call her out on what he thought she was wrong about, or to give her a tongue lashing- for example, "Right back at you". I loved how BAG delivered that line.
