How does Kyle Reese get the picture of Sarah Connor?
May 14 2009, 2:36 PM EDT | Post edited: May 14 2009, 2:36 PM EDT
In the first Terminator movie, Kyle memorized a picture of Sarah which he later used to identify her when on his rescue mission? If John jumped over J-Day, how does Kyle get this pic? Do you find this valuable?

Time paradoxes and so forth, different timelines... It's very confusing :P

The thing I hate about the multiple universe theory is that this question doesn't need to be answered. Nor does Kyle Reese have to go back in time if they happen to kill skynet etc.. etc..

That's my understanding of it anyway.

Good question.

Maybe he left the pic under that tree in the ammo box and showed it to Kyle....oh wait that was a dream of Sarah's or was it a glimpse into the unseen world?

Either way its a good question, maybe they wont put the picture in at all and continue to jack up the story of Terminator like they do with everything else.

John Conner gave it to him. Do you find this valuable?

I've also wondered that. Even when John didn't jump over J-day. He still jumped from 1999 to 2007.
And even if he didn't, with all the running and stuff he doesn't really keep any personal possessions....lol, maybe I'm going into this too far...

Myrrdin is right though....very confusing...

If John Connor jumps back to the past (our present, 2009, whatever) he can still give that photo to Kyle in the future. Do you find this valuable?

Drop box: good idea.
Everyone's forgetting Cameron's chip... undoubtedly a JPG bonanza. World biggest flash drive.

He put it up his rectum.
That's not PG so they couldn't show it on TV.

He didn't. John has inadvertently created this "Born to Run" future, which wasn't supposed to happen. If I remember correctly, John found the picture at Ellison's house, I think in 'Complications', but I'm not sure. But, jumping forward in time, John can't take the picture with him.
The multiple universe theory (which suits TSCC best, imo) implies that the picture doesn't really matter, Kyle has already got the picture and saved Sarah Connor in a previous timeline that has already happened - he doesn't actually have to do so again. I think.
It is very confusing to get your head around.

Within the concept of time TSCC uses you are right. Another timeline took care of the picture question.

"John Conner gave it to him."
Yes, in T1 it is presumed that John lived through Judgment Day and fought in the Resistance to become its leader before sending Kyle back. The photo would have been among his personal effects, and he gave it to Kyle.

Given that Born to Run leaves John in the future, having jumped through Judgment Day, and having no physical items with him, I would assume he faces a new future. And in this new future, Kyle is not given the photo, unless John can somehow find the photo in a cache (like a drop box) or in the debris of his old home.

Alternatively, it is possible that John later returns to 2009 and lives through Judgment Day so as eventually to give the photo to Kyle. Whether that happens is up to the scriptwriters.
