Watchmen was excellent. I don't know what people were expecting. I think it faired a 64% or RT and that's what I expect Salvation to do once every review comes in. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

"Has it really been any other way though?

Watchmen was good. Just keep an open mind when you watch it. "
No, I don't think so.

Watchmen is a little controversial?

ok the critics dont like the lack of story in the movie WELL THEY SHOULD HAVE WATCHED TSCC FOR THE STORY!!!!!!!!! the movie is less than 2 hours and had to have conflict between bale's connor and ironsides general which equals some of the yelling they seem to be hating what do they think all generals and sergeants in a war are going to just all get along always and have tea and dumplings Do you find this valuable?

"I think it'll be good, screw the critics, they always seem to like those films that do poorly at the box office."
Like the original Star Wars films, the Dark Knight, Iron Man, Star Trek, Wall-E, Titanic, the original Indiana Jones films, The Godfather, The Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man 2, and (more relevantly) Terminator 2?

If the Star Wars prequel trilogy is being received better than Salvation (thus far, by these guys who apparently only love small-profit films) then we know we are in trouble.

"Only flaw too much sex otherwise a great film"
That was actually how it was in the graphic novel.

@ jht53: people were expecting another Dark Knight or super hero movie. Not a superhero movie at all.

Off Topic from Salvation:
Here's (IMO) the best thing to come out of the Watchmen and the Wolverine films.

Edit; Nah - the best thing to come out of the Wolverine film was this:

Click the Terminator Salvation link. This review is extremely encouraging compared to what we've seen so far. I think people familiar with the Terminator mythos are going to enjoy this more than Roger Ebert or some guy from the New York Post.

Well, this can't be bad -- the NYT liked it (and even mentions TSCC). A few excerpts from the Review (at, http://movies.nytimes.com/2009/05/21/movies/21term.html?8au&emc=au)

"Some things are saved [in "Salvation"], even redeemed, in the course of the movie, including, perhaps, the audience’s interest in killer cyborgs from the future and the fate of the Connor family."

"[This background from prior T-movies ] that’s without getting into the metaphysics of time travel, the self-updating allegory of technological anxiety, “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” on television or the complex development of a malignant military application called Skynet."

"featuring a bald Helena Bonham Carter"

" [the movie] has a brute integrity lacking in some of the other seasonal franchise movies. It parades neither the egghead aspirations of “Star Trek” nor the thick-skulled pretensions of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” but instead feels both comfortable with its limitations and justly proud of its accomplishments."

" [ It ]is densely populated with semi-important characters and crammed with exposition and incident, but it rarely feels busy or talky — and a mastery of the vernacular of chases, fights, explosions and crashes."

"With its clanks and creaks and broken-down contraptions, this movie is a battered Wall-E to “Star Trek’s” sleek and seamless Eve.

Which is fitting, since part of the point of the Terminator movies is to register ambivalence about technological progress, which fills our lives with all kinds of cool, convenient stuff that somehow brings an intimation of our eventual obsolescence. “Terminator Salvation,” digitally engineered to approximate a rough, analog feel, is less a cautionary tale than a consumer advisory. Enjoy your new gadgets, but don’t let them out of your sight, and don’t forget where the off switch is."
