Just to reiterate, there is no time travel in T4.The most critical piece of information is we will learn the exact date of Judgment Day. This will become canon. There has been speculation that McG wants T5 to take place in the present, while T6 will revert back to the future where Kyle will be sent back along with Arnold's T1 Terminator. T4 will be rated PG-13 while the DVD will be rated R (Moon will go topless as well as a number of deleted scenes will be added back in). Do you find this valuable? |

Looking at this trailer - which looks f*cking awesome let's face it - I start to feel that the clash of timelines between TSCC and Salvation is going to be seen as awkward, and unnecessary.I guess millions and millions will see this film, and the majority will come to see it as 'the' Terminator timeline. I imagine the film is so powerful even TSCC fans will really hook into its timeline, and deprived of further TSCC will start to gravitate towards the Salvation timeline. Maybe this is part of the logic of axeing TSCC - that it just seems too strange having clashing/contradictory main story arcs within the same franchise like this. It says to me that for a TV part of the franchise to return, they really need to somehow make the two timelines have a logic that allows them to co-exist somehow - rather than just pretending the other doesn't exist - either that or completely avoid one another. What could make life for the TSCC timeline even harder is if - as McG says - they're thinking of having T5 set in 2010 (in the present), where JC and supporters, plus the machines, come back on a mass time-travel, to have their future war in 2010. Doing Terminator stuff in 2010 is really stepping on TSCC territory. Where else has TSCC got to move? It would be better if T4-6 stayed post-JD, and TSCC stayed pre-JD, and then the two storylines can keep out of the way of one another. I am realising that once people see Salvation, the whole ending of TSCC S2 may seem to many as the imposter, and Salvation the real deal. It was less of a problem when our gang were doing their business in LA 2009, pre-JD. Continued.... Do you find this valuable? |

Continued...I would love to get Josh F (or one of our fan-fic writers) to sit down and cook up a whole new starting point for a TV show, that cunningly can exist alongside the TSCC timeline, and the Salvation timeline, without jarring discrepencies and outright contradictions. Either that or completely bypass them. Here's a few suggestions: What about a timeline set deep in the future, where the war was won by JC and Catherine Weavers machines, and humans and advanced AI are living happily together in a super-hi-tech late-21st future, only there's terrorist factions of the machines who keep trying to re-ignite the war. It could start with a 9-11 type moment. Or what about a whole series set in Perth, Australia, picking up on the Jesse thread, about how humans got back on top in Australia. Filmed in Australia with Australian actors, it would be a whole new ballgame for the Terminator franchise. Get it out of LA for a change. Or what about - say - taking the Stark ep as an example - a series of eps about resistance fighters and termies who have come back to odd places in history. Each would change the course of history. I'm trying to think of interesting aspects of the Terminator universe the TV show could explore, without having to become a clashing narrative with the big boys in T4-T6. Can people see what I'm on about here? Do you find this valuable? |

John would have to be sent back to the past at some point during a season 3 of TSCC if there is any hope of linking the show with Salvation's continuity. It's 2018 in T4 and John is in his mid-30's whereas in TSCC it's 2027 and he's, what, 16? The alternate timelines introduced by TSCC are extremely hard to fit into the movies' canon and it would take excellent writing to do so. If T4 didn't exist it would be alot easier to create a time loop linking the show's story arc to the events of the original Terminator film. The more I think about it, Friedman really screwed us over with the season 2 finale.
