Josh gave us one of the very few unique shows which will still be remembered in many years. For me (and I assume for many others) it's surely no exaggeration to mention TSCC in the same breath as Firefly/Serenity. Both shows were their creators' strokes of genius and had the luck of a brilliant cast in a whole.
Maybe after some time JF gets ready to fight with us for the continuation of TSCC (let me call it TSCC's Serenity). But at the moment he deserves us to back him up and thank him for this great show.
Schmacky's very nice idea of a video message is just the right thing at the right time. And for those who don't want to appear on a video or simply don't have the technical equipment for it, there is the possibility to write a letter or an email.
So Josh, big thanks for the brilliant show, maybe there's only a very small chance, but we should take it!
On your feet, soldiers!

I don't really care to make a thread on its own but I'll mention in here. I sent a message to my friends list and hopefully they sent it to their friends list, etc...

But I'm going to be making a collective video of fans to show appreciation for Josh. Just record yourself, upload it and send the link to aschmacky@hotmail.com You can try sending the link as an attachment as well, I guess that depends on the file size.

if you don't have a camera, but have a microphone on your computer, just record your message that way and send that audio clip and a photo of yourself to the same email.

Please no youtube links. Send me the raw file. Thanks

"Sorry Josh, Sorry Lena, Sorry Summer, Sorry Thomas, cast, crew caterers, none of you have jobs right now, and the hustle begins again, keep your heads up somehow it will all balance out. "
TentoTwenty, I am sure the regular cast members will get into new projects very soon or have already found them. I think it was Zack who confirmed in a chat at savethescc.com that also the writers are all (?) in new projects already. But there are other people and we not even know their names and they might now have a real problem. I do not know tv business in the US but I know poeple in this business or close to it in Germany and I can tell you it is a very hard business and often it is not a nice business.

Haven't read all the posts; but I've read all that JF wrote on his blog. I've visited that blog before - long before all this - and always found ti funny. But this one is a doozy- anger, rage, sense of betrayal, and let's be honest, heartbreak.

I'm not going to be untrue to myself and pretend I did not criticise him. I did for some things, and stand by that. However, I am also on record as stating that I find the story he created a bold, golden stroke, with concepts that I absolutely like. My support for this has earned me some brickbats from some, but what the hell. I make no aplogies for saying that JF gave us something adventurous, His invention of Cameron and her very human feelings; her caring and definite love for John, his own feelings for her, were/are horizon breakers. Thank you Josh, for that; and this story DESERVS to be continued..- for several seasons.

It is clear that perhaps his story was too adventurous for some om the networks. (More fool they). The networks appear to want cardboard instead of caviar. Dumbing down, seems to be the name of the game. I hope not. I hope there are people out there within those same networks, who still apprexciate bold, intelligent, and challenging work. JF made his mistakes; but the sum of what he laid down will remain indelible, for all to see..

The other thing the rage in his blog brought home to me is that my belief that he was hamstrung by intereference was true. Something rotten in the State of Denmark. The manner of his dismissal makes all those movies/series about people being dumped proves that reality, as usual, beats fiction hands down.

To err is human, Josh. To create as you have done, divine. Thank you.

Oh yeah I know Lena and co have jobs lined up, but for that first instant they had nothing, that's all I meant as for the others the people who made the show behind the scenes, those grunts just doing there thing, they are the ones I feel for.

Friedman's writing is indecipherable in both blog and television format.

Are you saying that everyone should understand you and your classmate when you talk engineering jargon? Do you get pissed at doctors and lawyers when they use their own jargon and you can't understand them? Josh is using his own industry colloquolisms - especially the F words.

If you're not here to support, then what are you doing here?

"Yes. Other shows do 22 right now. There's at least one upcoming scifi show with 22 eps per season. If you as a showrunner (alone or as a team of showrunners) ensure you have enough writing staff AND have a story plan for the season, 22 eps are fine.

Unless outside forces meddle. In that case RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGEEE!"
I guess it's a matter or opinion. There are a lot of shows I've liked that did full 24-26 episode seasons in the past, but most of them just end up doing the same stuff over and over and it gets old fast. All the elements of House are great, but IMO 24 eps or whatever they do is too much. Same for CSI and Law and Order. As I said, Lost has several episodes a season that end up being a lot of filler, even now that they have an end in mind.

My favorite non network shows lately are Mad Men, Dexter, and The Wire (now gone). I liked The Shield a lot too, along with Deadwood and the Sopranos. It seems to me those shows benefit quite a bit from that 12-15 episode framework. Josh and Ash have both commented on what a grind the 24 episode schedule is, and that they'd prefer to do 13 at a time.

I don't think it has to do with amount of writers, it's just to pack a good wallop you can't string things along for so long. X-Files was very good at going off track and doing different episodes, but if they tried that nowadays I can only imagine the cries of Chris Carter ignoring what the fans want, as we hear often on this forum. Heroes has tried to do more shorter arcs, but it doesn't help them much. The creativity seems to suffer.

I don't think TSCC got a chance to have this problem, since they had so few episodes in Season 1 to begin with. The mandate from Fox to be more episodic in Season 2 is what I think messed them up the most.

I will say this for my part:

A lot of the Josh "hate" I felt was due to the lack of contact we had from him during the whole process. And what little we did get from him were cryptic impressions of surrender on his part. We heard nothing from him about fighting for the show, while we and others on the crew were working our asses off.

But the source of this "hate" was *lack of communication*.

I needed to hear his side of it before I could take a sympathetic tack towards him.

He is a genius.
He does deserve our support.
And most of all; he does deserve our apologies.

I'm sorry, Josh.

'nuff said.

Josh won't be out of work long.

from his imdb list
http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0295264/bio
His latest script project has been adapting "Ghost Soldiers" for Steven Spielberg to direct and Tom Cruise to star in. That script is currently being used in pre-production.

working with Steven Spielberg? Sounds like a big step up from busting his ass for tv.

It'll take awhile for him and the fans to get over TSCC. Eventually everyone will move on. TSCC will be one of many noble attempts to adapt a hit movie into a tv series. It rarely ever works. But, I'm glad they tried with Terminator.

Maybe the Josh haters will finally shut up. I've been telling everyone for a while now that he feels incredibly low because he lost a beloved thing. Did they believe me? Nope. Misdirected anger, as I posited.

Several guys on the wiki, and I won't name names, owe the man a public apology. I hope you're big enough to admit you were wrong.

JF also wrote the first version of War of the Worlds. It got tweeked after, but he got 1st writer credit, iirc.

I'd imagine it'd have to be a doozy of a concept/script that would get him back into TV.

I hope he does come back to TV. Movies do spectacle well, but I think television is where dialogue and characterization is at it's best. Somebody just needs to learn how to make money off of good product when it can't suck in the average reality TV fan. Something on FX or HBO would be nice, if they'd get into SciFi.

Thanks for some great memories JF and here's hoping we get some more.
