"well i think ben stiller just got some big award at the mtv movie awards guess they were on to something LOLTerrible, terrible disappointment, and NOT because Deadpool... wasn't Deadpool. I could let the butchering of Deadpool slide if they produced a good Wolverine film about Wolverine (because that's what I expected from a Wolverine film), but the darkest days of the man's life became a schoolgirl romp and excuse for cameo mutant appearances. That's the shorthand review. I could go into much more detail, but this isn't a Wolverine thread. Quick final word though: The Wolverine film is so poor that the makers of the Deadpool SPINOFF want to totally ignore it. Says volumes. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"i wonder how many other x-men they will make origin movies forWolverine 2 and Deadpool (though he's hardly an X-Men or regular adversary of them) are green to go. X-Men First Class (a story about the first X-Men) is likely to happen. X-Men Origins: Magneto may or may not happen. Gambit could have happened, but I think that's been shelved. FOX isn't done milking the cow yet. Do you find this valuable? |

Me and Akuji finally saw it today (Sunday 7th) and it was AWESOME. There were a fair few in the theatre too. All the premiere seats had been reserved, and that's saying something at this cinema. I gotta say though; John should've bloody well died, man. No way should Marcus have given his life for John. Marcus stole the film, hands down. They better bring him back in T5 and T6, I swear to God. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I'm not surprised T4 isn't doing well in the U.S. box office. It'll make back it's budget, so it won't be a bomb, but WB wants a $400 million gross total. That doesn't look likely to happen now. It's sitting at about 105 million after 3 weekends in the States. Most of the revenue is going to come from foreign markets now, and WB's going to have to split that pie with Sony, who's distributing. The foreign gross is 97.2 million, so it's made it's budget back, but a chunk of that goes to Sony. This is a disappointment for WB, make no mistake about it. We may be seeing the death of Terminator as a Blockbuster movie franchise. If it survives, it'll be transformed into something else. But Halcyon has to be looking at these numbers and determining that the demand just isn't there. These numbers do mean that any thoughts of the movie saving TSCC were ludicrous though. I'm not sure Terminator has this really big fan base. Oh there are Sci-Fi fans who like the first 2 movies a lot, but they're not fans of the franchise itself, and that's an important distinction. If you look at Comic Book stores or merchandise, Nerd Central, you'll see that the Terminator franchise doesn't have nearly the same footprint as Star Wars, Star Trek, the typical comic lines, etc. It's simply not as big a deal. Yes, you have T2, a blockbuster movie from James Cameron and Arnold at the height of their careers when their names carried tons of weight. But I don't see where exactly the proof that Terminator films are this big franchise with tons of fans. Of course, TSCC is another matter. I'll bet you the vast majority of Terminator fan demand is for more of this series in some way for WB right now. It remains to be seen what they'll do with the property, but if they think they can make a good profit cheaply with TSCC, they'll do it. 4 out of 9 found this valuable. Do you? |

What was the advertising cost for the movie? Another $50 to $100 million? The whole thing about the movie having to be a blockbuster to potentially save TSCC I thought was flawed. Though I did hope a blockbuster would mean Halycon/WB see the potential. But now if the movie had been huge then they may have seen no point in a TV show. I think the movie not doing as well might make them re-examine their outlook. AND they can so easily blame Fox for the show doing poorly (relatively) they can save face and play politics. They can look like saviors of the show to a very devoted fan base. Do you find this valuable? |

It must be embarrassing for WB that a tv series was better than their 200 million $$$ movie. (the budget shocked me too. Google it yourself)Obviously TSCC couldn't compete with a movie Fx budget. TSCC made up for it with superior writing and character development. budget reported here *spoilers here** http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminator_salvation The first Terminator movie budget was 6.4 million. Amazing how ridiculous movie budgets are these days. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

But I don't see where exactly the proof that Terminator films are this big franchise with tons of fans.I have no idea if this is accurate, but IMO it is something that is worth thinking about. Personally, I was always a big fan of the old movies, but to be perfectly frank I never thought of them as a thoroughly developed franchise; certainly not compared to something like Star Wars. As iconic as the old movies were, I can't help but think that there simply wasn't a whole lot given there to explore as a viewer or fan, and thus no real foundation for a big fandom. This, of course, would be what TSCC was in the process of changing. It complicated the T universe, adding things like the greys and the rogue terminator faction, Kaleba, FBI agents etc etc. Do you find this valuable? |

"I just can't get in the mood to go sit though this movie when TSCC got cancelled right before it came out. It's like trying to be in the mood to make out 2 seconds after getting kicked in the crotch. "What made it worse is that the WB pitched T4 on TSCC's cancellation notice it sent out. "The saga continues..." For me, it died when TSCC was axed. T4 was barely above T3, the bright spot was a certain cameo near the end. Do you find this valuable? |
