Season 3 Fan Fiction Project: "Unofficial Savior" underway NOW!!

Love me, hate me (you know I rant about JF, so get over it) let's put the politics aside, and get the show on the road.TPTB have cancelled TSCC, and thus screwed the fans. The finale leaves us not knowing what is going to happen to John, Sarah, Cameron, John Henry and Catherine Weaver. Derek is back, so is Kyle and Allison from Palmdale. John is separated from Sarah, who remains in the present, but he in the future is not the future savior of humanity he is an unknown. CW is with him, but ducked out for parts unknown for purposes unknown. JH has Cam's chip and we don't know where either is, or why. We don't know if Cam is dead, gone, salvagable, or scrap. We don't know if John can get back to the past (present) or to Cam (with or without her chip) and his mother (who may or may not die of cancer). All this, and losts of other factors (Ellison, Savanah, Dison's son, etc.) make for more loose ends than the average fan can handle (I certainly can't). This has bugged me, to an extreme degree. I ranted to JF on his blog, hoping that he would step up and let fans know what he ideas were for S3 since the show is cancelled. But he has effectively abandoned us - telling us to give up (when the battle cry of TSCC fans and Terminator charaters and its mythos is the NEVER give up). I personally think that he set the last of the series up to leave the fans in a lurch, to effectively stick it to TPTB by sticking it to us. But that's my opinion, and you do not have to agree. I do view that he put Cameron - the most interesting sci fi character on TV since Mr. Spock (and JF's own creation) on the back burner for S2 out of spite, just so you know what I think of that guy...so I'm not one for kissing his tush just bc he was the creator or the show runner of TSCC. All that led me to get past the idea that JF alone had GOOD ideas about what a TSCC S3 could be like. Do you find this valuable? |

cont.And seeing T4 and then reading the prequel book inspired me that I could write a fast paced, action oriented, TSCC S3 book that DID follow Terminator canon and make sense and have good tactics and logic and be enjoyable. I am starting this thread to discuss this. I already have a private email address for the TSCC video game project, NoFateGame@yahoo.com. For any discussions on the actual plot - if you want to be involved with its development, please contact me there. I only ask that if you become part of the development team, you do not reveal what the plot is until we in fact produce a book. This project is open to everyone that is a TSCC fan, and I also expect that we operate in a spirit of comradery so as to meet the mutual objective of providing some closure, and maybe opeing up new possibilities for enjoyment with TSCC. Everyone's opinion is valid IMO, and trying to shout each other down because they have a specific viewpoint will not me allowed (Jameron, AJ, infighting, etc.). We (I) will determine plot and charater development based upon what makes the most logical sense. This does not necessarily mean we'll offer what a specific TSCC sect will want to see. Nor are we trying to please everyone. What we (I) am trying to do is make the best core product that we possibly can. What I mean by this is certain elements of TSCC were tactiaclly sloppy, like making Sarah a introverted ("crazy") person, who was more distracted with her own doubts and personal concerns than she was for Skynet making JDay happen in 18 months and half the people on earth dying because of it. Oh yeah, and the prospect of scary killer robots jumping out at any time sould seem to keep one on high alert! Do you find this valuable? |

cont.I intend to try to get what makes logical sense of what we know/knew of Terminator up through T1, T2, and even TSCC and get it back on track the way it could/should have ben done - which means a broader scope than the characters being in a house or high school and doing a lot of talking inside. There's a big world out there and these are the people dedicated to saving it. If you wish to discuss you are welcome to do so, but understand we are going to turbocharge TSCC and put it on a much broader, deeper, richer scale, or magnitude. Terminator is an epic story. It also has deep undertones regarding society, mankind, science, war, suvival, sacrifice, and the tension and drama of unseen forces always trying to wipe people out - in general and specific targets. Sarah and John are such targets, and are fighting back, but few know it. They are hunted by many, but have survived so far - specifiaclly because they (in large part due to Sarah) have an all out commitment TO fight back rather than succemb. Sorry, but I see an extreme difference bewteen THIS character and what JF put out - or even JF himself (as it seemed he masked SC for his own personal struggles with cancer). I think we can and should do this ourselves, although IF there are writers, cast, and crew of TSCC or this wiki, or any other fan site that want to be involved they are welcome. I think it is the only way we'll ever get anything done. I think I have a broad plot and some exciting twists and elements fans will enjoy. But it is the plot development, how characters will act and why they would do so, as well as what factors would impinge upon them, these are subjects that I open the floor to, to have round table discussions about, so we can really have characters and a story that jump off the page, alive, well rounded, plausible (within the context of this sci fi genre) vivid, and viable. cont.My intent in this project is not to make money.from this project. As jor most of the stuff I've done on the TSCC blog and this wiki, its a labor of love. I don't own the copyrights nor am I trying to steal or bootleg anything from anybody. I don't care how TPTB view this: they have already screwed up Terminator with full control. I am trying to create what I thought the Terminator story COULD be after Sarah and John are left on theri own by Uncle Bob, and the potential I thought TSCC could be (as big or bigger a hit than Lost!). I also think Sarah deserves the tribute, as this is about this given era in her life; and she is the #8 butt kicker of all time...(#2 IMO just after Bruce Lee). I think cancer gave us a warped view of what Sarah and her life was all about. JF gave us some brilliant ideas: Cameron, Derek, time travel forward, etc. I think however, as good as his writing was, it was lax in the "Terminator" dept., and that is not a vector we will continue. Some may agree or disagree, but I intend to put forth a stroy, robust story. That means is core WILL be a sci fi action thriller, faced paced, deadly and deeply engaging. It'll be a thrill ride that will not let go of you once it has grabbed hold. At least that is the vision I have based upon the plot ideas i've come up with. If you have plot ideas please contact me. I promise you I will keep your personal ideas confidential, unless you allow me to share them with the round table group - if there is one - to specifically discuss, weight, analyze and ponder such submission. This thread is for general discussion on the project, its progress and fan participation. The email is where the disccussions on plot and character development will take place.And yes, there will be two levels, and outer and an inner circle. You will have to EARN your way into the inner circle, by your valuable contributions (which may be just applying good common sense or insight). The inner circle will have a higher level of influence and impact upon the project - as trusted advisors and contributors. And yes, even JF is invited. I don't hate the guy. I just think he fumbled the management and marketing of TSCC and it cost us the show. I also think some of the Termnator continuity and tactical approach left a lot to be desired (eg: Sarah going off by herself, not telling anyone where she was going and getting shot)). The T4 prequel book was 300 pages. I think we can do that. Maybe even produce a series of books, all with quality writing from a Terminator perspective. What do you think? Do you find this valuable? |

I do have some interesting thoughts written there on TSCC continuity if it were done on a clean slate - which is basically is now. These are ideas I wrote specifically to discuss TSCC from a new, fresh perspective, as if we were sitting in a writer's room blue skying the project. They are designed to hopefully inspire or incite you to create your own create spark, and bring some valuable back to the gorup. They are not canon by any means, but I view them as a launch point to START a discussion about what could be in the TSCC world, and why. These creative ideas are easily found by following the highlighted instructions at the top of the page, and scrolling down. I will be posting some new creative idea additions (extentions of these existing ones actually) shortly from another thread. This is my fav Terminator video. It is a deleted scene from T1 with young Sarah and Kyle and I think is great Terminator related writing.Here's why: it provides, drama, tension, action, and the pending threat of Skynet and Jday that you always remain aware of, yet it has no car chases, no explosions, no FX, and no, not even scary robots! Yet it is 100% Terminator, IMO, and is a stardard for me as a reprisal to TSCC fans who misguidedly think anything other than what JF produced and the way he produced it equates to mindless, dumb and boring action. TSCC fans are samrt, and talented, IMO, and I'd like to see up step our game up to the level that TSCC realy could and should be. I think this vid shows that we can have our Terminator and melodrame - even doing emo and crazy - if done SMARTLY. I consider this a "must-see" for anyone involved with the book project. Oh, and yes, expect to go into great detail studying and reviewing the T movies and the TV show, so we can get the facts straight - as weel as we can. Do you find this valuable? |
