A big shotgun double barrel is always an awesome powerful gun to use and i think the remington 1974 is probably cool to use!
It also has to be the famous dirty harry 44 magnum!

"big shotgun double barrel ... dirty harry 44 magnum!"
That's silly.

Sidearms and shotguns are pretty useless against terminators. Even 7.62/.308 is barely harmful. Anti-materiel weapons work best, such as a M82 (preferably Mk211 ammo). Other than that you've got explosives.

THAT'S SILLY!

I always sleep with a trusty bucket of water and pack of AA batteries under my pillow.
It's a lot cheaper than any of the junk you just mentioned and it gives me 120 seconds to dechip 'em.

tell that to kyle reese, in T-1 thats all he had , a pump shotgun and a police .38
he did ok.
you have to combine alot of running with those LOL but they arent silly
and they can do damage which after awhile can add up.
also the guns some people say should be used, are
a] hard to get, and so is their ammo
b] hard to carry around, or conceal
In both T-1 and T-2 the fun was as you watch the movie , you wondr just how are they going to kill this thing with the weapons they have and it cant be done, and then at end they luck out with the machine killing a machine , and the molten metal killing the liquid metal.
T-3 had this as well, but T-4 threw this concept out the window.

Anyway, if you will encounter a terminator and you will have no weapons, you can still spray him with a water, and then wait until he get rusty. ^^ Do you find this valuable?

Remember, if it's a T-888 or something, you can zap it with a tazer or hit that fucker with some 115V AC and he'll go down like a rock. :P

Because we all now how awesome shock dampening assemblies are when they can't handle outlet voltage.

And you can nuke them anytime as well. 100% success. no doubts, no need for thermite anymore.

Not the OP, but the author of the page this thread is attached to rules out some of the heavy or exotic stuff.

I wouldn't even bother with the 5.56x45mm or .223 Remington stuff. It's just too weak, not enough punch with that light projectile. 7.62x51mm or .308 Winchester for the earlier units would probably be effective though. 7.62x54R, and 8mm Mauser would do well also. Maybe 7.62x39mm as well. You can acquire this ammunition relatively easily as well, there's a lot of surplus hanging around.

Non-corrosive ammunition would be the preferred choice, but corrosive would do if properly stored.

Yeah, the 7.62X39mm armor piercing in the right place might be very effective!
There's lots of that stuff and lots of guns to put them in as well.

Almost forgot about the old classic .30-06 as well. :)

There's a lot of M1919s around. Semi-auto kit guns are reasonably cheap to acquire.

Full-auto stuff would be harder to get, but if you have machining skills, it wouldn't be too hard to fabricate your own set of sideplates for a set of full-auto internals.

And you can set up M1919s in a variety of calibers as well. They'll take 7.62x51mm, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x39mm, 7.62x54R, .30-06 and others that I've probably missed. You just have to make sure you headspace properly or your weapon could explode in your face.
