Yes. Don't they have crosswalks at the mouths of freeway entrance ramps where you live? Traffic lights?

What was the traffic light? Did the cyclist or Dekker run a red light? Just because it's a crosswalk doesn't mean people are obeying the traffic laws. Do you find this valuable?

At this point it doesn't matter how much of it is the cyclists fault. If dekker was driving drunk he was committing a crime. No matter who was at fault in the accident, the police had just cause to test him.

Its another good reason not to get behind the wheel when you've been drinking. No matter how well you can drive, you might meet the cops through no fault of your own. I'm sure Tom could afford a cab.

Sorry for confusing the issue.

There was no traffic light mentioned in the article. I just threw it in there as an example of a modern traffic flow control feature one might find in the vicinity of an entrance ramp. Like a cross walk.

Speaking as someone who's ancestor was fatally injured in a car driven by a drunk driver, there is no excuse for drinking to impairment. Have a beer or two, or one mixed drink, and then knock it off.

People do all kinds of stupid things when they allow themselves to get drunk. Some reversible, some not.

That's pretty recent news. How can he plead not guilty when he tested well over the legal limit and hit someone too. Whatever...

Well it is pretty simple. The Thomas Dekker that was charged with the DUI was the one from the future, not this Thomas Dekker.

Perhaps a "Not Guilty" plea is the logical starting position for negotiating a reduced penalty. Presumably, he has retained a competent lawyer.

Obviously he's pleading not guilty because he's not guilty.

Possibly, it's just a legal tactic. On the other hand, hopefully the plea is not going to insult the judge's intelligence considering he/she will have his alcohol blood level test in hand.

Watching TV shows doesn't create drunk drivers. Canceling TV shows does! I mean Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was a good show, man! It was a good show, but we've never even got a final episode!

People who have seen Scary Movie will get the joke.

great comment , made me laugh

TMZ has obtained the police report from Thomas Dekker's DUI bust in North Hollywood late last night -- which states the actor hit a 17-year-old kid who was trying to ride his bike past a freeway on-ramp.

According to the report, CHP officers who arrived to the scene claim they observed "a collision involving a silver Toyota Matrix and a bicycle blocking the #2 lane on the on-ramp."

The report explains that the victim was "ejected" from his bike and fell onto the street. Cops say he was eventually transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

Cops then suspected that Dekker had been drinking and arrested him for "DUI resulting in an injury to a party involved in a traffic collision."

Dekker was arrested and transported to Van Nuys jail where he was released early this morning on $100,000 bail.

so.......they may not have tested him for drinking? says they just suspected him of drinking.

Translation: He was high. There's no way to legally test for that yet. So, whenever an accident occurs in which the cops suspect the driver is on a controlled substance, they use this bs instead. Otherwise, they'd have simply made him blow.
