"I'm guessing he's not hurt badly, because if he was it would probably be the first thing TMZ would be keen to highlight.

"Terminator Kid viciously mauls bicyclist half to death" would garner more attention than "Terminator Kid injures bicyclist." "
That's possible. TMZ loves to contort those headlines

"D*** LM, that's a lot of injury to your wife. I hope your wife is doing well now."
Still undergoing therapy 3 days a week.

Will never be able to do many things we take for granted:

Running, jumping, walking up and down hills, driving a stick shift car, riding a bike, walking on a treadmill, kneeling, and the list goes on and on.

She is a trooper.

Wow, that is terrible. It makes you feel lucky when you can do those things. I hope she comes out of this better than expected.

"Geez, that sounds terrible.

Did you think his punishment was appropriate or too much or too little?"
I thought he got off way too light.

He started drinking at noon while at work. His assembly line shift ended at 3:00pm and he drove 5 miles to a bar arriving at 3:30pm. He continued to drink until 6:30pm, while the bar kept serving him.

My wife was heading home from work at the same time this joker decided to drive.

He walked to his car and drove (?) out onto a two lane blacktop road, lost control, went into a field, over-corrected and careened across the South bound lane and hit my wife head-on who was driving in the North bound lane.

My wife was wearing a seat belt and the police said it saved her life. The other guy wasn't wearing his seat belt and he was ejected into his windshield but not through it.

Her car was totaled.

Because of the extent of her injuries, I thought he should have been sentenced under the felonly DUI charge, but his lawyer plea-bargained and got the charge reduced.

I think drunk driving has touched everybody's lives...my grandfather was killed by a drunk driver when my mom was two. She ended up with a physically and verbally abusive step-father.

I'm sure most people never even think about the consequences, or that there will even be any, when they drink and drive.

"Gusar, just read LM's post about it.

THAT'S why DUI over here is such a big deal. A friend of mine died because of a drunk driver when I was in high school."
And yet, despite these fines, this stuff still happens. Again and again. In the US as well as in Europe, where the fines are much lower. So, I'll still say putting a guy in jail for one year because he got caught with DUI is excessive.

Though I see this is a very emotional subject for many, so I expect to be lynched and all my arguments dismissed, no matter their merit. Kinda like trying to discuss gun laws.

They used to be to lenient and only recently have gotten stricter with DUI . Your over the limit, you lose your liscence. You have to attend multiple classes, very expensive lesson. This is all to avoid the next step when they may hurt someone. But then you hear cases like the NFL receiver who just served 30 days for killing someone ! My uncle was killed by a DD when I was in high school. He was coming home from his second job, on his motorcycle to save gas and was hit head on at 50mph. The whole extended family at been at his new home 2days before for a surprise party for my aunt who has just got her masters degree. That was 20 years ago, he recieved NO jail time. Definitely this. ^

@Erin: It's the curse of Edward Furlong. Thus proving that TSCC really is the rightful successor to T2.

On a more serious note, frankly, his behavior makes me sick. Way to lose a fan base.

Sorry to hear that about your uncle. Drunk driving is definitely a bad move.

This will probably effect Dekker's fan base in a very negative way. He's going to lose some fans for sure.

Edit: This is also bad news for TSCC fan base as well. Since he plays the important role of John Connor, many TSCC fans are going to be turned off by him permanently. Not good for the franchise.

Stupid Dekker. What a dumbass.

I hope the cyclist is alright. As much as I love Dekker, I hope he has to pay time/money for the damage he caused.

Sorry to hear about your wife, LM. I've had leg injuries/problems myself (but they're good now) and I know it's a major impact on life quality.

As for Dekker, I do hope that he gets a suitable punishment for his crime. That cyclist could just as well be dead.

I cycle a lot and I am lucky that we have lots of cycle lanes in the town/city I live.

Yeah, I cycle too. Fortunately, I have a lot of low traffic secondary roads to ride on. But I was almost nailed once if I had been a half a second further down the road.

found this with little more info.
Thomas Dekker was arrested on Wednesday night (October 14) for drunken driving after allegedly sideswiping a cyclist in San Fernando Valley, Calif.

The 20-year-old actor, who played John Connor on Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, was booked into Van Nuys Jail and was released early this morning after posting $100,000 bail.

TMZ reports the victim was 17-years-old and Dekker was arrested on a “DUI resulting in an injury to a party involved in a traffic collision.”

I thought he was older than 20, I will wait and see what the full story is before passing judgement. and if he was drinking too much and driving maybe this will keep him from doing it again.
I doubt the cyclist was seriously hurt , or they wouldnt have let him out on bail so quick. hopefully just a few bruise's
the thing is alchohol is a narcotic , but it is portrayed as a social beverage, by the media and companies that sell it.

He is 21, there is a utube video of him celebrating his birthday with some friends, he was trashed, it was at least the second utube video of him drunk. Not counting the Dekker tapes , now that I think of that. Do you find this valuable?
