So, question...
Oct 30 2009, 5:08 PM EDT
Say someone decided to take the events that have transpired in either T3/4 or TSCC and thus the changes made in the timeline, and go back to T1 and remake that movie. Who would you want this person to be?I'm not sure if he even likes Terminator, but I think Christopher Nolan would do the best job with it. Do you find this valuable? |

"Yeah, I loved his work in Batman Returns, and he has a good team put together. Wouldn't be a bad choice.Really? I've been thinking of how it would work with Lena as Sarah Connor. They can do things to de-age her. She doesn't look that bad, anyway. And maybe Jonathan Jackson as Kyle, since he already protrays him in TSCC. Or really, just any Terminator movie with Nolan behind it would get me excited. I'd love to see a film version of what happened after T2 and before T3. I mean, something had to have happened, right? Okay, okay, okay, forget about the remake thing.Maybe. Just think of like a sequel to T2 but prequel to T3 (with all of the changes), Whatever would be good. Do you find this valuable? |

"I'd want a few more years for CGI to progress. They have a cast of Arnie's face, so it's possible, but I want arnie to look real. The same exact movie, only a bit modernized, and better/more violence. Heck, they should take the old movie, HD it, and throw modern CGI in it. I like that idea better. A full scale update and re-release. Do you find this valuable? |

If they remade T1, I sincerely doubt whoever played the T-800 could do Arnold's performance in T1 justice.

I'd almost like to see just the same movie but with the scenes with the endoskeleton at the end CGI'd. So the endo looks more realistic and everything.

"Some movies should not be remade or should not have been made:LM, my mom saysthat Night of the Living Dead should not have been made. She watched it when she was young, and she still remembers it to this day. As far as The Day the Earth Stood Still, I got that when it recently went to DVD. I wasted cash on that. "Really? I've been thinking of how it would work with Lena as Sarah Connor. They can do things to de-age her.See, that was WHY I started watching TSCC in the first place! JF obviously had some different ideas other than what was expected of him to deliver. Whatever crew does TSCC in the future had better have a good resume in doing ACTION productions, that's all I have to say. I don't want to get sandbagged again with an "experimental" interpretation of a successful, clearcut sci fi action thriller. Do you find this valuable? |

"Some movies should not be remade or should not have been made:Hmmm. Jf worked on the last one - but his stuff was never used; isn't that right? The Day The Earth Stood Still shouldn't have been redone. The coolsest thing was the robot, and it only had a few scenes. Having Neo run around without using his techno capability (when clearly he could have at any time) was just lame. And he catches a hot one bc of this? Did he have a Jesus complex? I liked Spielberg's War of the Worlds, but two things bothered me.First, the battle scene that wasn't shown. Ray Ferrier runs up the hill chasing his son Robbie while Rachel is left by the tree. All the military equipment goes up the hill, too. Tanks, helicopters, humvees, etc. And the Martians are on the other side of the hill. At this point I am waiting for a big battle scene, but no, all we get is some burning humvees rolling back. There is a lot of flame and then the Martian machines rise into view. Hey!! Where's the war in war of the worlds if there isn't a battle scene? Second, Ray is in the basement with Ogilvy and he has to shut him up because Ogilvy is making too much noise. Ray tells Rachel to close her eyes and cover her ears and sing a song then Ray goes to knock out or kill Ogilvy behind a closed door. We don't get to see the fight. Come on, what is that?!! Are we to be treated like Rachel and protected from seeing the fight? I thought these two omissions were so glaring that they made the movie significantly less enjoyable for me. I thought it showed a gross intrusion of the producer's personal inhibitions or phobias into what should have been a natural flow of story exposition. I couldn't enjoy the movie after those scenes. Reflecting back, I see this as a common thread in Spielberg movies. Notably, the humans were depicted as unprincipled, incautious, and inept with weapons in Jurassic Park. Despite having a lot of guns, they seldom prevailed against the dinosaurs. I got the clear impression that Spielberg wanted to show the dinos as so superior to humans. We looked ineffectual in ET and Close Encounters, too. Ah, well. Still great movies, nevertheless, eh? Do you find this valuable? |
