Crazy thought...
Nov 8 2009, 11:48 AM EST
I wonder (and this is a real long shot to say the least) if anyone has tried to contact Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger to see if he would do anything?I don't know if he would be able to do anything but I guess his word would hold some sway, I also guess he still has some love for the Terminator name. I know its a bit of a mad idea, it does appear quite easy to contact him and I wonder if bringing the cancellation to his attention would be a good idea? It can't hurt surely? Has anyone tried this already by any chance? Do you find this valuable?

Don't mean to crap all over your idea, but I don't know any other way to put it than brutally honest.Even if he wanted to do something, what could he do? Nothing. He's busy, first of all. And we don't want a old chubby Terminator. Do you find this valuable? |

I know but surely even if he says he wants to see the franchise (carry on) doing well it may add some weight to the rest of the fans who are supporting it?I said it was a crazy idea, guess im getting desperate ^^ Do you find this valuable? |

"I wonder (and this is a real long shot to say the least) if anyone has tried to contact Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger to see if he would do anything?Um... what do you want? A government bailout of the Terminator franchise? Come on... If he does have any kind of sway it's just because he played a role, not because he's a governor... and seriously... what could he do? If he does have any kind of sway it's just because he played a role, not because he's a governor... and seriously... what could he do?I seem to remember reading he had some money in Halcyon. Maybe that might give him some clout to influence the disposition of Halcyon's TSCC interests? [Edit] Just wanted to add another thought. Political figures like the Guv are more sensitive to loud activists who can develop their own public profile. TSCC fans are dedicated and proactive -- billboards and petitions are high profile. Maybe he would listen? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I found this page which has the option to send a message through the site as well as having his phone, address and email details:http://www.emailyourgovernor.com/california-governor-arnold-schwarzenegger.html Also: http://gov.ca.gov/interact#contact If its agreed this is worth a shot at least, is there someone who could draft a 'professionsal sounding' letter to get all our points across? Then we could either all send the same thing or just change it into our own words so we all cover the same points? What do you think? Do you find this valuable? |

Actually it isnt a bad idea, arnold is fond of the movie franchise, and he is married into a billionaire family, so he could buy what is being auctioned if he wanted to, and then put it in the hands of someone who could do something worthwhile with it. he wouldnt have to be involved personally. just buy it and put someone in charge of it.what is being auctioned off isnt clear, and whether anything related to Tscc is part of that is also unclear. asking Arnold to buy the franchise if auction takes place is a good idea, and it surely couldnt hurt anything. LOL But his voice would be heard as a thousand of fan voices... Why not ask him to make a statement? Crazy idea, but why not? Let's get MetalShifter involved. He should write Arnie. He is an Austrich too :P Do you find this valuable? |

"Without profit,Obama is useless in this situation I guess...I have always had the opinion that Arnold was a shrewd self promoter, but having seen some of his other movies, there was nothing that really grabbed me as firmly as Terminator. Arnold's reputation for me was built on his performance in T1 and T2, Predator was a plus. He was somewhat eroded by T3. I am ignorant of Arnold's creative contributions to any of his blockbuster successes. Feel free to enlighten me. Perhaps Arnold would be willing to be a spokesman, if he could be convinced (paid?) of a winning story arc for the Terminator universe. It seems like it would be largely a risk to his reputation, with little opportunity for reward to Arnold. What any franchise needs are: 1. A large, paying audience that can be accurately measured and thoroughly exploited. 2. A story arc and tone that will attract and grow that audience over time. 3. Production values that will ... ditto The Terminator franchise has a disadvantage because its central premise is negative: Skynet and its Terminators are either a direct personal threat to main characters, or an indirect, developing threat leading to Judgement Day. The cute misunderstandings and pure relationship episodes that kept Star Trek going with a more positive tone, are harder to come up with in Terminator. When the relationships and character development were brought into Season 2, most of us hated it, and the touchy feely types who would have appreciated this were never drawn in because they already knew the negative central premise. Let me propose ANOTHER crazy idea: ==> "Terminator: Seducing the Tiger: Winning Over SkyNet." Do you find this valuable? |

Is there anyone here that would be willing to draft a letter? The better it looks\sounds the more chance of getting it read? What are the most important points to include? It doesn't hurt to try ^^ I actually thought most people liked the character interaction and development in Season 2 The fact that events are leading up to Judgment Day means there is always a level of threat in each episode, this means its easy to flip between discussions about a robots pancake recipies and the end of the human race. The Cameron character really makes the show for me as you never know what to expect, I love the conversations she has. I don't understand why you think having a negative central premise is a disadvantage when shows like 24 are 7 seasons in and all about a constant terrorist threat, theres still room for character and relationship development.
